In the 80s, these communities were dignified and self-reliant. They even donated food and medicine to Museveni’s rebels. Today, they line the roads in tattered clothing to meekly receive biscuits from their Liberator who travels like a monarch, guarded by an armada of soldiers.

Like children who haven’t eaten meat in a while, we Ugandans are compensating by savouring the aroma of democracy (meat) that is cooking next door at the neighbour’s home😀. That’s my understanding of the palpable tenterhooks in just about every Ugandan WhatsApp group.
