At 6:11 AM CT Bob Woodward disclosed on MSNBC, excerpts of notes reporting a closed-doors meeting this summer between Kamala Harris & Benjamin Netanyahu. Woodward statement:
[Kamala] was tough with Netanyahu, in a way that he did not like at all, and then she’s saying, Look at
One engineering blackpill I had to swallow when getting into industry is the finite nature of lubricants- you WILL leak lubricant, you MUST have it, and you CANNOT design things any other way sometimes or your shit will Explode
Every time there’s a Obama deepstate CIA false flag disaster conspiracy, the report comes out 2 years later and it’s always like “The accident was caused by insufficient lubricating oil” which sounds way too dumb except the reasons are complex and too much for them to learn about
No joke, today's frozen food discourse may actually improve my life, I've been too hesitant to buy frozen meals as a middle ground between cooking from scratch/eating snack-type foods/going out (never Doordash, though). Made it actually "click" for me that restaurant food is froz
For the unknowledgeable: moving metal gets hot, hot metal melts/warps/goes Kaboom especially under pressure. Lubricants dissipate heat and also remove dust/metal shavings etc that would cause extra friction, etc etc
You can actively cool lubricant but it will still leak
@halcyon_hazel
You had opposite problem for me (the 401k contribution I set wasn't properly added to my payroll for this whole past year and I just noticed so I missed out on corporate match this whole time) 😬😬😬😬
I just did not grow up eating a lot of frozen stuff, especially not microwaved, bc I hate microwave soggy texture. Today though I bought some frozen breaded General Tso's and am giving it a shot at cooking it in the airfryer
What Americans want:
•cheap goods
•high wages
•acres of property
•no traffic
•a big car
•no immigration
•cheap service labor
•no war / stop all other wars
•no foreign aid
•no welfare for others
•no cuts to welfare for them
•cheap housing
•infinite home wealth
Easy.
@cheer_wine
Big leap from "lookup menu before" to menu anxiety. I research everywhere I go on Google maps first to make sure I'm not wasting my time at some shitty restaurant where I wouldn't want any of the items
While I have you here- did you know that tires & brake dust make up a ton of microplastic pollution in our environment? You can't lubricate against that, and EVs won't solve it either- in fact they'll make it worse as they're heavier.
We need public transit in a big way
Sometimes you can use water! That's always nice. But a lot of the time you need something more efficient, more expensive, and something that must be actively & carefully maintained.
@opinonhaver
Electricians in industrial settings are not just there to fix things. If they do not know precisely what they are doing, people will get literally melted or blown up
@lefttwick
This is a bit cynical but I get the feeling we may see some sort of "therapist-lite" industry pop up which is just emotional affirmation with zero intention to improve people's lives (and no ability to help prescribe meds)
Not exactly the same, but I find the wiki article on Refrigerants to be fascinating- refrigerants & environmental laws tell much of the story of industry & government over the past little while
nobody wants to admit this but lubricant is the machine sweating and pissing at the same time
the only two times an animal is not doing those things is when they are doing nothing, or they are about to die
same for machines

You fool. You are a mere sheep bigot. You think all minorities are low IQ. I, the bigot shepherd, have memorized the IQ distributions of every African lineage
@JoePostingg
Many problems with California of course but one advantage to having the biggest state be a blue state means that there's thousands of environmental, safety, and other laws that would be uneconomical to comply with for only one state
While I have your attention, check out how parking requirements destroy cities- go look up your city's zoning ordinance and search "parking requirements"- you may be shocked at how much we legally dictate our land be set aside for cars:
@JesseForIndy
@nickroberts317
Take a look at our zoning ordinances' parking requirements and see what it does visually to the city. (There is an exception for Mile Square). I find the 1 per 150sf for Bars to be particularly egregious
@IRHotTakes
I loved DDHAT. You have to also keep in context Hasbro was launching a potentially gigantic franchise to millions of normies without the source material knowledge, and still managed to maintain the relative spirit without beating everyone over the head with references
@KermitHigby
@dogstar7tweets
@whstancil
Do you know anyone or read anything about clean energy economics? The IRA money turned the entire industry from stagnant to profitable and now solar/wind/transmission companies are investing in actually building capacity. It's really transformative

>Biden wins EC
>loses popular vote
>Republicans move to destroy the EC
>dems: "oh no, no please, not that"
>EC abolished
>GOP never wins presidency ever again

I would simply design a substance to move heat to exactly the place I want it, with perfect efficiency, an infinite temperature range, with zero environmental downsides, for cheap.
Simplest case: imagine a motor in a box turning a shaft that sticks outside the box. Motor needs to be bathed in oil to stay cool. Where the shaft sticks out- there's no permanent way to seal that gap in a way that lets the shaft turn freely
You can add a rubber ring seal to the outside, but eventually the turning motion will rub against the seal enough times to where it has to be replaced.
One more political thing to tack on here, don't mind me lol
Building more housing supply results in lower prices! we have a 10 million overall unit shortage in American cities that we need to correct:
In 2021/22, Austin had the highest rent inflation in the country.
Today the Texas capital is building more units as a share of inventory than any city in the country.
Suddenly, rent is falling by 7%.
I wrote about the lessons of the Austin miracle.

It was the World Socialism Center for Marxian Exchange of Voluntary Labor until Western Hegemony struck and turned it into the World Capitalism Trade of Stocks Center (and capitalist mall)
@watn_tarnation
I think it's something like, a very small number of rich people determine all the ins and outs of day to day lives of 330 million americans and their actions
By disrupting profit flow, those billionaires can press the Change Things Button
if liberals had simply implemented my exact policy agenda at whatever point in time I specify, regardless of material conditions, everything would be perfect now, but they didn't, so electoralism is stupid
@rjunkapoor
Over 40% of undocumented immigrants had legal work visas, came here via plane, and then weren't deported.
Also, applying for asylum is legal
@CollieYimby
People rag on business school but you just could talk to an MBA for 5 minutes of your time instead of staking your finances on ventures with zero competitive advantage
One thing I'm sure of- the Harris campaign strategy is to be on the offensive and they are the ones defining the media cycle. Instead of responding to baseless nonsense smears about Walz' service, they're gonna do stuff like this and intentionally piss off the Trump camp
@worsematt
it takes just a few logic points to go:
1. Biden is weak and ineffective on Gaza so far but there is a bit of humanitarian aid
2. Republicans have said they'd glass the place
3. we should probably make decisions based on the million domestic consequences at play
@sunflowertaters
The thing is that ANYONE can be a reactionary- that is, basing their politics on their emotional reactions to the world. Reactionaries may, then, contort their sentiments to fit whatever political group they ID with, or find a new group
It's not just logic vs emotion though
@opinonhaver
Look, if they don't want to talk about JD Vance fucking a couch I'm more than happy to talk about how Trump raped his first wife, raped E. Jean Carroll, and was very good friends with Jeffrey Epstein

I'm gonna go out on a LIMB here and say most people use a cup or pitcher to water plants instead of placing the entire thing into the sink
@crowder4lou
Stop. This is not an accurate understanding of vacancy. You need to dive into the actual length of vacancy too.
When a unit exchanges hands and undergoes renovation, it's vacant during that time but that is very different from long-term vacancy!
AUSTIN SINGLE-STAIR APARTMENTS!
Austin city council just passed a resolution directing staff to look at single-stair reform as a part of their 2024 building code update!
This is a MASSIVE step toward enabling more missing-middle and affordable housing to be built in Austin!
