No! In an attempt the sever the connection between mother and child, you would be introducing an unbreakable disconnect in the natural process of birth. And what’s worse is that people want this so they can…go to work? Deplorable.
Modern Christians: “Self-love is key.”
Medieval Christians: “The origin of all passions is self-love, their end, pride. Self-love is unreasonable affection for the body. (Maximus)”

As one who gets asked to officiate, I remind the couple that the ceremony is about the community bearing witness to their vows and participating as a real community, not simply a perfectly curated museum audience.
Early 20s: “CS Lewis has completely opened up a world to me, with God at the center, and has made Jesus interesting again.”
Late 20s: “Lewis is overrated and not that cool.”
(Experiences pain and near death of my wife and first son)
30s: “Lewis gets it and is underrated.”

Our Dr asked if we would get rid of the baby if we found out their had a disability. We said, “of course not!” - to which he breathed a sigh of relief.
I decided to organize the box of my Presbyterian Grandfathers hand-written and typed sermons into the decades they were originally preached. I’ve learned so much about him. He died when I was 11, and I never had the chance to discuss theology. And yet, we are talking now.
Baptism is necessary for salvation like it was necessary for the Hebrews to actually walk through the red sea. Not one would have wondered how their faith split the red sea in two. Not one believed that by their own power, salvation was being accomplished.
Friends, it was officially announced today that my wife and I will be planting a church in 2022, in Conroe, TX. We are very excited and prayers are appreciated.
I grew up in the charismatic church, and for the most part, still practice my faith as a charismatic (healing prayer, tongues, etc). What bothers me is the wretched state of preaching in a lot of the churches we grew up in:
No amount of private devotion to Jesus can survive the lack of Sunday worship. If you want a quick path towards shipwrecking a faith, look no further than absence on Sunday morning. It is the source of a great many errors and breeds nothing but discontent.
Today I set the table for the last time as a Deacon. It was emotional. Please pray for my family and me as we prepare for my ordination to the priesthood (God willing!) this Saturday.
@existentialcoms
Communist: capitalist should be compelled into financial bankruptcy by hired labor
Also Communist: economy can’t sustain such intervention, so we need a prison system to mind the gap through forced labor, maybe call it a Gulag?
See..they can do it too.
Man approached me after service today and wants to be baptized. It was his first time in church in a while, and he even brought friends. What a gift to witness the start of a conversion. Church planting is difficult, but it’s worth it.

It doesn’t seem like you are capable of a conversation without name calling. I would recommend you talk to someone, maybe a therapist? Seriously..
Friends, please pray for our church plant. Many of our core team are experiencing spiritual warfare and we need breakthrough, as well as strengthened hearts.
I believe that every Protestant should celebrate (not simply commemorate) the Reformation. It was nowhere near perfect, but the passion and belief that the word of God should be made available to the masses, as a means of promoting their own happiness (Luther) is glorious.
Nearly every excuse for aborting the fetus (rape, incest, etc) cannot be applied to the newly born child, since we consider him or her a life. Therefore, the only serious question is this: is the baby in the womb a life, worthy of protection and dignity?
Beloved, You are absolutely free to leave this therapeutic deism behind because it doesn’t serve you, you serve it. Embrace submission to Christ and you will be free.
I was installed as the Rector yesterday at All Saints Conroe. I’m so grateful for those who have prayed for our church plant, and for me in particular.
1. The amount of preachers who would walk up on the stage and say that God changed their sermon at the last second, and then proceed to preach a terrible 45 minute in-the-moment reflection, happens far too often and should be addressed by concerned parishoners.
I was one who used to make fun of cultural Christianity, and welcomed its demise. It seemed a perfect opportunity to finally be the church in a more robust way. What I hadn’t anticipated was the rate at which things would degenerate once the buffer of cultural Ch was gone.
Friends, my wife and I have found a house to begin our ministry in Conroe, and it happened quicker than we anticipated. It’s located right where we want to begin gathering folks, so please pray that it would be a place of peace and hospitality.
If you tell a child that they don’t have to go to church because they are tired, but must go to school because they have to eventually join the wider society, then you imply that there are more important authorities that kids need than God, and more important needs than prayer.

with my kids the other night and realized that Kevin went to church, and was strengthened by Christ to then go and defeat the works of the enemy (burglars). It’s a deeply Christian film, actually. 🤪
Don't watch Taxi Driver or First Reformed and think it is the best film on the inner life of the underground man. The best film is “Diary of a Country Priest.”
Wow: This “not religious” yet loving dad used logical reasoning—a gift from God—to care for the eternal life of his daughter, who was taken hostage by the UK government. Please pray for this family.

@RevKevDeYoung
Kevin, love this. Paul uses “chief of sinners” as a rhetorical move to point out his own need for Christ. He was not saying that he possessed a dual nature, one as sinner and another as a saint. Paul publicly addresses every church as a collection of saints, not sinners.
I have many evangelicals in my church plant who do not come from the Anglican tradition. When we do the Anglican-y things, I encourage them with the try-it-on principle: try this on like a jacket and after a couple months, tell me how you feel. 98% of the time they get it.
For any Christian struggling through disappointment, Jesus looks at you the way he looked at Peter on the shore after His resurrection, and says: I was with you then, I’m with you now, and I’ll preserve you to the end.
For all my new followers:
-I’m a Texan, and will (God willing) be priested on 9/26 into the Anglican Church (ACNA)
-I love Tolkien and Lewis
-I’m currently reading a lot of Greek and Roman texts
-Prayer Book Spirituality🔥
-Dostoevsky and Russian classics
-Encouragement
@SpringISD
You didn’t cancel because you had two upcoming student holidays. And yet, all districts around you were canceling. You’re negligence has caused much undo harm to families and students today. Houston schools should know better.
@EstherOfReilly
Sometimes people act like the biggest threat to American Christianity is normal people trying to read the Bible faithfully and raise their kids in the knowledge of the Lord. 🤣
August Beckham Beadle | 6lbs 7oz | Raven headed | Soon to be Baptized | Calm after a meal | Early Bird | Nap-a-holic | Favors the Irish | Deeply Anglican
6. Lastly, there is so much that the charismatic church offers the wider body of Christ. And I have met many pastors who never do the things mentioned above. Therefore, let us sharpen one another in love and honor, and always under the word of God.
“Slow to listen, quick to judge, they (young radicals) comply with but half of the Socratic practice of drawing modest conclusions from the little that one understands, for they draw arrogant conclusions from the little they understand.” - Kierkegaard
The most sacred part of the Coronation Service, The Archbishop of Canterbury anoints His Majesty’s hands, chest and head with holy oil in the Coronation Chair.
Regarded as a moment between the Sovereign and God, the Anointing Screen protects the sanctity of this act.
To put it plainly, Richard Hooker already answered this question for Anglicans: Roman Catholics are often real christians for the same reason that Protestants are Christians — the work of Christ, explained by the doctrine of Justification.
To put it plainly, Roman Catholicism is a heretical religion that preaches a different gospel than the gospel of Jesus. Roman Catholics are not Christians and should not be approached as brothers and sisters in Christ.

We gathered 25 people at my house tonight to eat, pray, sing, and talk about the vision of the church plant. Our first series of house church meetings begins on Feb 7th and I couldn’t be more excited about this.
1B. I’m sure it is possible that this could happen, but the liklehood that it is God, and not the lack of preperation on the part of the preacher, is really low. Where was God in your preperation? I’m sure he was not on vacation.
When prepping a sermon, I don’t like to consult with too many commentaries. It can often clutter the mind. However, I have a handful who are always on rotation:
1. Calvin
2. Beale, Barth, etc
3. Ratzinger
4. Robert Altar
Who is on your regular rotation?
2. Making the climactic moment in your sermon one in which you, the preacher, interpret a text by saying God told you something very specific in your prayer time, which is not in continuity with the church’s teaching on said text it extremely cultish and misleading.
I was looking through my mother’s 1970s scrapbook and found this picture of my grandfather in his Presbyterian drip. He would get his PhD in that decade and go on to start a ministry for the elderly while pastoring in New Orleans (Church of the Covenant Pres).
@DrJFronkl
I'm praying for the faithful priests in the CofE. Especially you, Fr Jamie: may you not waiver in your commitment to the gospel, or in your call to instruct the faithful. All of us will stand before God to give an account for both things.
The Prince of Wales demonstrates not only allegiance to the King, but affection and respect for his father. It was a beautiful moment for the world to see.
As an Anglican church planter, I have found that the bits of our tradition which may seem unapproachable to those who feel called to join us in the work end up becoming the very things which anchor our community in the launch team development phase*.
@legal_himbo
I hear you, but life is also about accepting limitations and making peace with what is possible. We shouldn’t take a leap into such a massive breach of human experience just to make up for those limitations.

Dostoevsky was destroyed by that terrifying experience. I believe this is what infused the rest of his life with an intensity for the infinite that cannot be put into words, only that which can be experienced. Is this not why his novels are mystical experiences?
We are all moved in! 20 folks from our cathedral congregation showed up at 8:30 in the morning and got us fully moved in with very little stress. I’m so grateful to the body of Christ. Seriously, what do people do without a church family?
We move into our new home tomorrow morning and couldn’t be more grateful. But if you have a moment, please say a prayer. Lauren and I have been packing our house for 10 days and still feel very overwhelmed with all the stuff. 🙏
One of my neighbors stepped into our church on Sunday. It was the first time in over 30 years that he had darkened the doors of a church, and he brought his entire family. For this, and many other similar stories, I’m grateful.

I never thought I would actually make friends on weird Anglican Twitter, much less that they would send me a premium Bible. Thank you
