I'm lost for words and admittedly in disbelief about the situation at
@iza_bonn
@simon_jaeger
was an important reason for me to join the institute and I absolutely loved being here! and now this... 😔

Great news that Armin Falk will not become the CEO of IZA!
The announcement caused a lot of damage, but at the same time it also showed how much people valued the institute and its network, which was heartwarming to see ❤️
Thanks everyone!
Now: time to rebuild!💪
„the Berlin location of IZA will be closed down.“
„the current CEO of IZA, Simon Jäger, has decided to depart from his leadership role at IZA“
„Armin Falk, the current CEO of the briq Institute, will take over the leadership of IZA.“

As a labour economist, I know that leisure enters the utility function positively, so I deliberately picked a starting month beginning with a weekend 🏖
But looking forward to the proper start on Monday and meeting my colleagues in Bonn on Tuesday!
Yippie, I've officially been inivited to join
@iza_bonn
as a research affiliate🧐
Honoured and happy to be a small part of it and looking forward to contributing to the network in the upcoming years!
(next step: dropping IZA DPs like they're hot 🔥)
The rumours are true! ⚡️
Today, I'm officially starting a part-time position at

Very much looking forward to creating synergies & collaborations!
What a nice surprise to receive the Lluís Fina Prize by the

Excellent conference overall, I can highly recommend!
And I apologise to all Spanish speaking people in the world for my miserable attempt to hold the speech in Spanish 🇪🇸

Do raises in potential benefit duration (PBD) cause higher aggregate unemployment? Economic theory: unclear🫤 For Poland we find: Yes✅

Always great to meet friends, colleagues & researchers to excgange ideas🔬
But a minute of silence for Nora Szech in one of the core conference events would have been a nice touch.
Such a shame that the opportunity was missed..

There can, of course, be reasons for buying local, but a lower climate impact is certainly not an important one

It's funny how obsessed economists usually are when it comes to causality.
But many (from large cities) appear to be unwilling to account for population size of the cities when interpreting & celebrating these numbers 🤔

Paris --> Barcelona is also great!
(or Berlin --> Stockholm)
There are actually a lot of good connections in Europe & I love reaching as many places as possible by train 🚂
Especially as one can work quite well in the train, so it's not even time lost. And it feels nice🙂
I also highly recommend the Paris to Milan train!
As academics who travel a lot for our jobs, we should really try to take the train as much as possible. 👇🏽

The book may be great (I have no idea), but the title graph uses the default colour scheme vom Stata???
It's so quick to make graphs look nicer than the default 🧐
Beautiful graphs are such an important element for communicating one's research, this deserves more attention!
This is a great book! Do you analyze survey data? Do you lack the stats training to address sampling biases or to use stratified designs? Were you trained in social science rather than stats? Do you want to up your quant game? Get this book. You won’t regret it!
