Growing up middle class, I was very aware of how my family was not as well off as my peers. I will never forget the day my dad sold our Mercedes S Class to fund my degree at Columbia B School.
But I overcame all these struggles and more to become a successful hedge fund manager!

Don is a master of the craft and I don't think he needs to prejudice himself by reading beforehand what Rowling said. He would simply use his considerable skill to convince her on the topic of gay marriage or whatever.
@nameshiv
Err have you read about his foundation's interventions with regards to women's reproductive rights in poorer countries? Or them trying to keep AIDS medicines unaffordable in the midst of an epidemic? Or Gates' role creating the current vaccine inequality?
I took a year of unpaid medical leave because of depression and my manager who constantly emphasized how he didn't really understand mental health went above and beyond anyone I've ever heard of, to make my life easier even before my time off, by exercising basic human empathy
This is probably not controversial among the folks who follow me but it is controversial among the folks I'm around irl. But if you're progressive and religious, you're progressive despite your religion and definitely not because of it.
So our lovely landlord has seen it fit to give us one month notice and vacate. We're looking for 3bhks or 4bhks to rent.
There are 3 folks, 2 guys and a lady, and two cats. Some of us eat meat.
We're looking for 3bhks or 4bhks in the kondapur and not-so-far from kondapur areas.
@IChotiner
Quite amazing to see him regurgitate these pre-2014 Indian Modi fan talking points in 2017 right after Modi had shattered the Indian economy by withdrawing all our currency notes with no prior notice in Nov 2016.
It's been almost a week without smoking and it's been surprisingly pleasant. I used a book called Easy Way To Quit Smoking by Alan Carr and by the end of the book, I was a non smoker.
Can't still believe it, that's why I waited a week instead of posting about it immediately.
The interesting question here would be whether one sees any woman wearing a hijab as overtly religious? Is it similarly overtly religious when a Sikh man wears his headgear? Is it similarly overtly religious when a Brahmin wears a naamam or a poonol in public?
I am not an atheist but in last few years I have become allergic to overtly religious people and those who choose religion as their main identity. Completely turns me off. In fact staying away from such people & religious extremists is how I protect my faith and spirituality.
A secret visit of RaGa to the White House means a regime change operation has moved to the next level. As India rises AND refuses to align fully with American foreign policy positions, Modi in office poses high risk. They need a puppet regime. Expect significant meddling in 2024

I didn't realise that comics are a "solved" art form. That there's only one right way to do them
If you don't see that the text adds a specific tone to the comic compared to the silent version, that's fine but it does add something. You not getting it or valuing that something
@TamilRatsaschi
Why don't you do a bit of research instead of asking trans folks to defend their humanity for your benefit? It might shock you but tons of people have spoken/written about what you're asking.
@strongbags116
@LolOverruled
He literally just showed an example where resources were pushed into making people's lives easier and managing the drug habit safely, instead of focusing on more policing and how this has massively worked in reducing drug related deaths.
many humanitiescels think that their education has given them some deep insight into the world and other people and then start essentialising their studies as inherently progressive with some sort of magic antifascist properties and think it's the one true path to enlightenment
I have a Q for the
#LGBTQIA
community in India.
You (rightly) expect everyone's support in your battle for your rights.
Will you also support my quest to make Thallumaala compulsory viewing in schools, colleges and workplaces atleast once a quarter?
I don't understand why regular bhakts have their knickers in a twist about the documentary. Everyone knows it's true and brought him into power precisely because of it. It is not particularly gauche to admit to it either in the current political climate either.
@nise_yoshimi
White columnist with large forehead: Again and again the Hard Left refuse to pay attention to genuine concerns of the people actively summoning Moloch
The other thing about the Kerala Story movie is how so many people have very little clue about ISIS. Which religion ka folks do you think were killed the most by ISIS? It was Muslims.
Here are two portraits.
One is by Raja Ravi Verma, which perhaps, you have never seen.
Another is by Leonardo da Vinci which you must have seen million times.
Now think about how marketing and propaganda lobbies bias our minds.
@kushfehmi
This is like Steve jobs taking a dollar a year salary with massive stock compensation and not selling them during his lifetime so that he could transfer them to his wife tax free post death

So your argument is that the rich are not that bad. Unless there are rich folks in the Left, in which case both they and the Left are bad. Is this right?
@panaurti
Many anarchist takes on twitter seem to come from deep personal trauma. One of them got super upset at me when I disputed the assertion that children know exactly what food their bodies need and I said that you need to sometimes push them to eat veggies and other good stuff.
"Facebook doesn’t have a mind-control problem, it has a corruption problem. Cambridge Analytica didn’t convince decent people to become racists; they convinced racists to become voters."
What a line!
Mark Zuckerberg is not an evil supergenius. He's not a supergenius, or any kind of genius. He's just an everyday mediocrity like you or me, someone who talked himself into thinking that he should be the czar of 3 billion lives.

Look up misclassification of gig workers all over the world. Classifying them as independent contractors is almost always used as a way to not provide benefits, proper wages, reliable schedules, and so on. Read about the life experiences of the workers who deliver your food.

This Hinge match wants to pick fight with me about how billionaires are necessary for the economy to "churn". Taking a deep breath and running away in opposite direction🏃🏽🏃🏽🏃🏽
@DearthOfSid
Reminds me of that Rajnikanth film where he's also an encounter specialist and human rights activists are portrayed as evil or impediments to justice.

Thank you ma'am for your casteism. In these difficult times, it's very important to ensure that we have enough casteism in the world.
Thanks for showing the world your merit. BMKJ 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I've got a great idea to reform justice system. Replace SC and HC judges with a Nilekani software that compares the assets of both parties and directly declare victory for the richer party.
And in a tenth of the cases(must be random), flip the logic. That is, poorer party wins.
@nameshiv
Or what he's trying to do to India's rural healthcare system? What he tried to do to the US education system?
These are off the top of my head. Pretty sure there's more. He's a legit supervillain.
Even before that my manager just treated it as he would any person needing accommodations like being physically ill or going into or coming out of a maternity leave
@sadelokeshi
My skin is currently glowing from the fever I caught a couple of days ago.
Also your tweet reminded me of the time a lot of folks were upset that Madhuri Dixit(I think) was using some super fancy cosmetics as opposed to the cheap soap she used to peddle. Like kuch bhi lol
Last weekend, I was at

Lmao my Christian relatives who are nominally anti BJP are telling me right wing talking points about Muslims in UP and Hindus in Pakistan. Utter hubris about BJP's prospects in Kerala.
