@EmmanuelMacron
My French is a little rusty, but I get the gist. And most Americans agree that this is a bad decision that may well lead to increased violence. Trump is a disaster.
@lizzieohreally
Trash behavior.
There was a recent thread where someone proudly posted that they refused to give up their seat so a family could sit together. And ALL of the comments commended the OP.
When did we lose all kindness and compassion?
@DGlaucomflecken
If only your wife had called for the needed pre-authorization. You know, somewhere between calling 911, doing CPR, making sure EMS knew where your kid(s?) were.....

completely spineless when it comes to 45, so success in the midterms a must. Just don't want to put up w/ 45 for 4 years.
@DorothyNovick
Maddening. Absolutely maddening. Medical documentation is all about our meeting the absurd requirements of payers. Our system needs to be completely overhauled. Blow it up and start over.

So .
@childrensatl
put you through multiple dog and pony shows but the behavior of the attending went completely unaddressed? Sure, your post was a mistake. But the behavior that lead to it was far worse. As a fellowship PD x 13 years, that’s mind boggling to me. Thx for posting.
Couldn’t agree with this more. I’ve been working in peds critical care since 1997, and the steady decline in experienced nurses at the bedside has been so discouraging. They are the backbone of ICU care, and hospitals consider them easily replaceable.
They’re not.
Realizing the only way to make more money in nursing is to job hop every 2-3 years and/or go into travel nursing just breaks my heart for our patients. There is no value placed on experienced nurses who have seen it all & can handle it all. We are not at all incentivized to stay.
@carlycdebaca
My condolences on your loss. As a peds cardiac intensivist, I’ve seen countless patients benefit from Dr. Norwood’s innovation and creativity. His contribution to the field is unmatched. May his memory be a blessing to you and your family.

in the 1990s, this is both heart breaking and maddening. Ralph Feigin is spinning in his grave. I’m so sorry to hear this—as an intensivist, I know damn well that nurses are the backbone of the ICU.
This diatribe is beneath you.
“Rigged”? Really? You’re going to take a page from the MAGA playbook?
How about uniting behind
@RepAdamSchiff
to win the seat and campaigning like mad for the Democrat who’s running for the seat you’re vacating?
Be helpful, not destructive.
Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign and voted to shake up the status quo in Washington. Because of you, we had the establishment running scared — withstanding 3 to 1 in TV spending and an onslaught of billionaires spending millions to rig this election. (1/)

Hope you also include pics of “white people who go out of their way to offer a smile or friendly word.” And I hope we do (or eventually will) outnumber the others. I’m sorry you’re having to experience this—I know it’s all to common.

Sincere question—if the patient is that communicative, can they not reiterate their own wishes for the medical team to follow? Using a communication device?
(Peds ICU doc here, so genuinely curious. Very sorry you’re in this position, 1000 times harder on nurses than docs imo.)
@Phil_Lewis_
Dude, no. They should NEVER in a bike lane. It’s….umm….how should I put this….A. Bike. Lane. Cyclists shouldn’t have to worry they might get taken out by a delivery truck. That’s LITERALLY the purpose of having a bike lane.

I feel so lucky that I’ve not had a reaction of ANY kind to any of my COVID vaccines. I would think that I got placebo or wasn’t getting an immune response—but I was in a vaccine trial so know that my titers jumped!
Hope you bounce back quickly. 💪🏼
THIS. Unintended consequence of Magnet, IMHO. We somehow need to get back to where the experienced bedside nurse is valued and appropriately compensated for the invaluable contribution he or she brings to patient care.
When all of the senior nurses are pushed to get advanced degrees or pressured to take charge/leadership positions & move away from the bedside, who is going to precept all of the new nurses, take the sickest patients & be the resources for tough questions?

My daughter got the J&J vaccine today and got dizzy and nauseated afterwards and had to lie down.
Do you know how that makes me feel about the J&J vaccine?
Overjoyed. Because 2 minutes of dizziness beats COVID every damn time.

I was running a half marathon and stopped to help another runner in pulseless arrest. He was awake enough to try to form words each time I compressed. Eyes open, looking at me. Defibbed by EMS when they arrived. Good recovery, has no memory of it. But I sure do!

She stormed the Capitol wearing a Trump flag as a cape. I’m not suggesting she deserved it—but she certainly put herself at tremendous risk. Actions have consequences. It’s a miracle there wasn’t more bloodshed—and I’m fairly certain had the domestic terrorists been black...
@ShawnteJamesMD
Every person who works in health care, and every person in a high risk group, and everyone at risk for getting COVID should be able to translate that without hesitation.
(And yes, I realize that those groups encompass every living human. Kinda the point.)
@nursekelsey
Nope—still a NOVID. And I am quick to test b/c I’m a peds cardiac intensivist and don’t want to take COVID into the unit. I’ve heard of plenty of people who didn’t get it for a long time and thought they were magically 100% protected—and then got it. I don’t believe in magic.

Didn’t see the uproar, and won’t seek it out. In the recent American madness, you have been a voice of reason and clarity. So as a gay woman, let me say: apology accepted.
Hi Emily.
How many times have you had to tell a parent that his or her previously healthy child just died from

?
I’m guessing the answer is zero.
Consider staying in your lane.

P.S. Parents: get your kids vaccinated.
Chris, Are you aware of the hard numbers of likelihood children getting infected, hospitalized or dying from covid ? These facts are why many of my mom friends will not vaccinate their kids. Not necessary.

Came here to say this. And Coach Mulkey’s clothes are “look at me! look at me!” over the top; Coach O’Conner looks sharp, professional, classy. Ridiculous.
The end of a long week on service just got a little bit easier when the mom of one of my patients gave me these to say thank you for caring for her son after his heart surgery. To me, his stay was short and recovery uneventful. Routine for us—never for the family.❤️

The US healthcare system at its finest:
Patient awaiting transfer to subacute care facility. Insurance company denies payment for last 2 days of ICU care because care could be delivered in subacute setting.
Hold up to transfer? Insurance company has not provided authorization.
@thehouseofpod
I have always disliked the use of the term “my” when it comes to other staff. They aren’t MY nurses. They aren’t MY fellows. The don’t belong to me. They are colleagues.
Not sure why it bugs me. Kind of irrational. But there it is.
@DrRissman
It’s lazy. Read the chart. Call them by name. If you can’t find it on the front sheet, ask what they would like to be called.
It’s not hard, and I think it’s a sign of respect to call them by name. I agree with others that calling them mom and dad is weird.

Nope. You’re not.
And “you can’t call this a foul at the end of the game” is a ridiculous take.
Let the players decide the game? They did. By committing a foul. It’s a part of the game. Even at the end.

Someone should tell self-important anti-gun doctors to stay in their lane. Half of the articles in Annals of Internal Medicine are pushing for gun control. Most upsetting, however, the medical community seems to have consulted NO ONE but themselves.
