. Using invivo ephys, optogenetics, tracing, behavior and more we found dopamine’s role in LEC fan cells/memory formation.
After getting swiped last minute on the first attempt for *not having candidacy yet*, I have convinced the NIA to throw some bucks at our project on AD memory circuit dysfunction.

In which we talk the current trend of abstract cognitive map-like neuronal activity being uncovered in hippocampus, PFC, and recently from our lab, the LEC.
We wrote an opinion minireview on knowledge representations in Curr Opin Neurobio.
"Reconciling neuronal representations of schema, abstract task structure, and categorization under cognitive maps in the entorhinal-hippocampal-frontal circuits"
Thanks to the kind support and masterful feedback of
@mike_yassa
,
@LalaEwell
, Dr. Gary Lynch, Dr. Chris Gall and of course
@kei_m_igarashi
, I may now put PhD Candidate on the email signature I should probably start using. Delighted!
And here it is. Been an honor teaming up with
@jun_heechul
to carry on the efforts of Drs. Soma and Nakazono in the Igarashi lab, and finally getting it out to the world
Our paper finally out in Nature!!!
@Nature
We found that dopamine facilitates associative memory encoding of fan cells in the lateral entorhinal cortex.

I’m presenting the recently published work on dopamine and fan cells supporting associative memory in the LEC. My session is Cortical Networks I on Tuesday, 8:45am PDT. See you there!
Excited to indulge in professional brag twitter this week with my first publication with
@kei_m_igarashi
,
@jun_heechul
et al. out imminently and candidacy attempt shortly after. Thank you in advance for bearing with.
Bit late as I just joined Sci-Twitter, but my PhD lab’s first publication is out. We claim the first major study of entorhinal-hippocampal dynamics in Alzheimer’s model mice. Epic work by the homie
@jun_heechul
(And hey, my name’s in science finally... acknowledgements lol)
Our new paper is out in Neuron
@NeuroCellPress
We found that "remapping" of hippocampus place cells is disrupted in Alzheimer's disease model, suggesting a circuit mechanism causing spatial memory impairment in AD. 3yr-work by Heechul Jun

Thank you to

, Tatsuki Nakagawa and faculty supporters for guidance (which I may now be qualified to pay forward, if anyone in the process would like a hand)

You seem like the kind of guy that thinks it’s edgy to say the n word and blames not getting laid on being too intimidatingly intelligent
Because if we don’t manufacture consent, how else will we funnel surplus Iraq War toys to our local blue badge wearing sociopath gangs for playing cowboy on the powerless with?
Last week, NYT published a major story that suggested falsely that police prevent murder and that one reason for increased murders during a global pandemic was civil rights criticism of police! The NYT did not disclose that the reporter was former CIA/Palantir/police/DA paid.
