Presenting Polaris
The first OS project built from the ground up by the 🐻⛓️ team. Polaris is a general purpose blockchain framework enabling the integration of the EVM into any underlying consensus layer. Its current iteration has been optimized for the Cosmos SDK.

We'll be chatting about BeaconKit, the story behind it and how you can spin up your own multi-execution client EVM L1 or L2.
BeaconKit v0.2.0-alpha.1 is out, our first release post
@berachain
bArtio.
This is a maintenance release with a bucket of performance optimizations, code refactors and general bug fixes! Thank you to everyone who has reported issues.
@fahdananta
I wish I had taken risks sooner in life, but I am doing at now and thats all that matters.
Anyone 18-25 reading this who is deciding what they want to do in life, just send it, fuck up while you're young and enjoy.
.
@Berachain
should have better commit messages, "bet" is hard to tell what's going on 😅
Is something happening on 6/9? Seeing some commits to the main branch after a few months of pause.
@berachain
bArtio nodes running latest BeaconKit main are current consuming:
- Less than 1GB Memory
- 0.6vCPUs
- 2.11s avg 24hr blocktime
There are some things that make the GC work overtime I know I need to fix, another 10-15% reduction coming soon.
We’re excited to announce our new VP of Engineering,
@baloothebera
. He was previously a Head of Engineering at Mysten Labs, and brings his extensive experience in taking Sui from 0 to 1. Welcome to the Bera Brigade Baloo!
In a rare moment of seriousness from me:
I hope everyone enjoyed the AMA today, looking forward to full whitepaper, seed round and documentation reveal in the coming weeks!

EVM consumer chain proposal
Allocating 71.5% of supply to the community between ATOM stakers, CP, Hub validators and LP rewards
ATOM as gas token
I like it…now make it parallelized like Monad and you got yourself a home run for ATOM!
A homie new to solidity asked about merkle proof drops and I realized there is really no clean implementation of it anywhere. If someone wants to write tests that'd be lit.
@transmissions11
is there a more gas efficient way to verify?
comet gossip is so incredibly fucked, we are contemplating running a second p2p network to gossip transactions so that validators don’t miss blocks.
On our internal devnet you can see block times slow down during times of high JSON-RPC tx submission:
Bearish on people who think that what is going on with cosmos is an issue with the fee market and not an issue with the gossip rules/mempool construction.
dev bear’s super secret parallel evm
- semaphore on every slot
- semaphores are a weird spicy semaphore that respects TxIndex
- add a sync waitgroup and go routines to state_processor.go “Process()” function in geth
- Boom parallel good project

(this is a meme but
yeah Cosmos people need to sort their shit out. The fact that people don’t wanna be associated with the brand due to the politics is so negative it’s not even funny.
No more Comos based on profile
Still will build on the stack
Just too likely to get bashed by our our own community to want to be associated with unfortunately
Just handed in my resignation to my faang job, so I hope berachain isn't fake
I think we are hiring engineers, designers and BD or something but tbh probs fake so idk
That being said, if u wanna help build the first anon driven defi degen chain, hmu

Without an OSS community Ethermint wouldn’t exist as it does today.
@fekunze
I owe you a follow up from our previous call, will ping you!
That's our mf dev dawg 🫡
In his first appearance in months,

joins us on this episode of THC!
We learn about the LATEST NEWS on 🐻⛓️, their newest tech release with Polaris, and of course, some juicy alfa.

mw3 is basically perfect, bring back slide cancel tac sprint reset and it’s better than mw2019
Even without tac sprint reset, it definitely fills the void that mw2 left. (For context I played the shit out of mw2019 / wz1 and barely touched mw2 / wz2)
The thing that has always bothered me about the SDK is how it forces you to do things “the way the sdk does them”, without allowing for flexibility.
Things like modular encoding, allowing spinning up secondary services and generally giving the developer more control around how

+1, my ex coworkers (and friends at other companies) think I’m nuts.
Leaving FAAANG was the best decision I ever made, though spending a good chunk of time there was a huge leg up on learning good SWE practices.
Similarly, crypto tends to be much more popular and legitimized within the startup/venture scene than among the engineers resting and vesting at FAANG mega corps
I’ve been pushing to get this going for months, great to see it happening. Will be a huge.
@mark0baricevic
we will definitely need to make sure the eth key signing stuff is good. Will be important for M*tamask.
8/ Polaris public release kicks off the official rollout of the Berachain network! We will follow this blog post with an official protocol roadmap and publish an overview of the next milestones, including the much anticipated Devnet.
today i saw the founders of ethereum, solana, and cosmos all speak at the same event alongside a man in a bear suit
this is why it doesn’t matter how bad the scams, hacks, and regulatory crackdowns get
this is why i work in crypto
Can anyone at
@dYdX
elaborate on the engineering decision to have different process proposals for full nodes vs validators? what what the rationale?
@AntonioMJuliano
2/ Polaris is a general purpose blockchain framework that allows for the integration of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) into any underlying networking or consensus layer.
Okay Cosmos lads. I got an interesting one.
I am trying to store important, but non consensus required data externally and sync it using a ExternalSnapshotter. This data is only needed if you want to support historical queries (it’s basically just dumping transaction data).
7/ Custom Layer-2's
In addition to supporting EIP-4844, chain developers are able to use BeaconKit with any ABCI 2.0 compatible consensus engine, and thus can easily be plugged into Rollkit to create powerful layer-2 solutions.
Calling
@ethereum
core og devs whom I cannot for the life of me find on twitter (fjl, karalabe, holiman etc)
What was the design decision behind the statedb interface, processor etc not taking a context?
Was this just the way go was written back in the day? Curious on insight
This is a large part of why we chose to build our own take of EVM on Cosmos.
We took the shortcomings of each and blended them together in a new and more interoperable way.
to my knowledge,
@berachain
is the first project that intentionally indexes very high on both being a meme and being real tech
crazy powerful if it works

3/ This new library serves as the foundation and baseplate for the Berachain EVM network. Built on top of the Cosmos SDK, Polaris offers superior support for the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compared to existing implementations.
5/ Polaris was written completely from scratch and follows a modular plugin based architecture written in Golang. Dev experience was improved via the native go-ethereum client to ensure full compatibility and make Polaris “EVM on the outside, Cosmos on the inside.”

Thank you to every single bera for coming out, Smokey, Papa and I couldn’t do this without y’all.

I get this one a lot, so probably need to update docs on our side.
You can think of $BGT as an exponentially back-weighted function of your staked $BERA position, if you withdraw all your $BERA you lose $BGT, to prevent indefinitely being able to earn rewards.
My initial impression: this is a combo of royalties payments to $BGT holders + tax $BERA holders incur.
While early adopters exit their $BERA positions they can expect to earn future royalties paid in $HONEY, indefinitely. "Being early" will reward you with royalties forever.
7/ On average, Polaris is operating 2.013x faster on popular ERC20 operations compared to
@EvmosOrg
when comparing the nanosecond per operation for the highlighted methods.
