I am honored to have been recognized as one of the Outstanding International Students at
@AuburnU
The award recognizes international students who have excelled in academics, leadership, and involvement
Grateful to my advisers, Drs. Hu & Appel, and
@AuburnAg
for the nomination.
I am very excited to share my latest publication describing my work on Wolbachia 🦠 in cockroaches 🪳 and the implication(s) of that for Urban Insect management
“Seun,
If you know any smart, hard-working, people who are looking for a masters in my program, can you pass the attached flyer to anyone who might find this opportunity valuable”
If that person is you, kindly check out the flyer for more info.
@matajson
Kindly donate toward the memorial fund for our brother and colleague, Dr. David Olabiyi, who tragically passed away.
The fund is to cover funeral expenses and support his family to pay their last respect to their dearly departed.
I am utterly humbled and honored to be a recipient of the
@NationalPestMgt
Foundation award. Grateful to my advisers, Dr. Xing Ping Hu and Dr. Arthur Appel, for their constant support and guidance.
Thank you
@NationalPestMgt
for the award!
I am excited to share the second chapter from my PhD dissertation. We wondered why there is a forest of publications on essential oils (EOs) and a desert of pointers on how these essential oils could be commercialized.
So we wrote a review!

Studying land law and labeling yourself a legal practitioner/lawyer is like killing 3 cockroaches 🪳 and calling yourself an entomologist/pest control expert 💀
Join me this Saturday as I share my - what can be, unburdened by what has been - scholarship experience so far in the US!

As I am aware that God has chosen to favor my undertakings. Indeed, luck and grace have been a light unto my path as I have journeyed from the hilly labyrinth of Efon Alaaye to the terrazzo floor of the Bass Building at
@Yale
University.

@futa
Somehow, I pursued grad education at
@Futa
and
@Auburn
, only to end up as the first in my lineage to earn a Ph.D. Very grateful to people who helped me so I could make it.

Looking back now, I wish I could claim credit for these trajectories. Or attribute this to any sort of brilliance. But I am fully aware of the luck I ride – the type that landed me a faculty position at my very first attempt!

My amazing mother raised me in financial struggle after her husband abandoned us. Things grew worse & death took her away from me. As a 15-year-old, my world came crashing & I assumed it was the start of the end. But it wasn’t – sometimes everything works not as expected!

I attended the
@corteva
DELTA symposium, which brought together 71 underrepresented scholars in agriculture.
And, I wrote an article congratulating
@corteva
for identifying the need for intentional recruitment of underrepresented talents in agriculture.
I have been asked to share some tips with fellow scholars tomorrow and I couldn’t be more honored. Thank you
@PaulEdem111
for the invite. And I look to chatting with y’all!
Tomorrow, the ongoing series on Fully Funded Post Graduate Scholarships Abroad will conclude.
One of the three speakers billed for tomorrow's session is
@iam_seunpop
who will be joining us live to discuss the theme.

Still, I had it easy and life wasn’t the worst – all thanks to her family. My avuncular saw to it that I attended college (

I'm immensely grateful to my mentors; Drs. Hochstrasser, Appel, Hu, Fadamiro, Held, and Gbaye - thank you for believing in me! 🙌 I have had to rely on these mentors as a drunk uses a lamp post.

Since I shared this, I thought it would be apposite to invite y’all to my Ph.D. Dissertation Seminar at 4: 00 pm CT on Monday 14th March 2022

Hi everyone,
I'd really appreciate it if you would share or donate to this GoFundMe for Gokhan. Gokhan and I were lab partners during my PhD
@AuburnU
. He needs your help to start again.
*Gokhan start again after Turkish Earthquake*
Well-written story. Full marks for the captivation.
Just a tiny weenie detail that I should have probably overlooked: German 🪳 are not “from Germany”.
To read more, kindly visit:
While in the house, we kept finding dead cockroaches (not the ones from Germany now cos I was able to get rid of all their eggs. The normal big ones) for the next one week, the children in the compound started finding dead lizards all over the place.
This is amazing
@AdamVirgile
Thanks for sharing it for FREE!!!
Thinking about it, I would love to have you do a webinar for a group of graduate students at Auburn. If that’s okay with you, please, let me know.
I made this thing in

Auburn should please keep my SOP far away from PG before he calls for revoking my PhD. I wrote that thing post-GRE so someone had to suffer like I did.
Remember when I used the word "apposite" in a draft & a Prof. maintained it wasn't even an English word.

They are the kind of scientists that prioritize the long-term benefit of their trainees over their short-term gains. Such a trait is rare. I appreciate this unique rarity.
Wolbachia bacteria are found in many insects but their presence in cockroaches is not well understood. A new study finds Wolbachia in four of 16 cockroach species and researchers hope further study may open doors to new management methods. /by

A new research review led by
@iam_seunpop
outlines current knowledge on essential oils for managing insect pests such as ants, termites, and cockroaches. Essential oils show a lot of promise, but more research on real-world applications is sorely needed.

A year into my PhD & I wanted to leave. It wasn’t becos I wasn’t getting D best support, ‘twas because I somehw (weirdly) became interested in something else
My advisers, Drs. Arthur Appel & Xing Hu, let me branch outside their niche, even when it was clearly suboptimal 4 them..
Besides being poor, taking a break is not on the menu if you are an international.
I mean do you want to keep working or do you want to get ‘booted out’?
A comment I can relate to. I went from PhD to postdoc to postdoc to faculty jobs back to back cause I couldnt afford a break. Every transition drained what savings I had or put me into debt. I wouldve loved to take a break after my Phd. It was financially impossible

I think Tiamiyu’s ill-gotten remarks on 🇳🇬 in the UK are a long game to apply for Asylum.

But I could be wrong. And he might just be another garrulous fella.
To my Day 1 buddy,

I probably wouldn’t have made it this far without your agbado🌽, Futa bread and beans, empathy, and dependability
Go on and have a great year!

Wishing you all an even more eventful and colorful ✨2023
Happy New Year 🥳
I see why Biola Kazeem piles on Rashford. Dude lacks a football brain. Only knows how to shoot a ball. That pass from Hojlund deserved a cut back. But he chose to go wide and smash the ball against the side netting.
APC is anti-progressive. I guess that’s what the AP stands for. The C probably stands for clowns.
Everything they touch retrogresses: Democracy. Rule of Law. Economy.
And now, they have successfully added tribalism to their tool kit. There is no depth they won’t go.
Shame!!!
Just sat through a VERY informative 2-hr talk by Dr. John Pringle on symbiosis.
Extra: If you’ve ever boiled your protein samples before loading onto your SDS gel, you have Dr. Pringle to thank for the accelerated denaturation of your samples ✌🏿

Fuel scarcity. Cash shortages. Gruesome killings. Riots. Kidnappings. Average Nigerian crying for things to be better. Tone-deaf to all of that.
But, tone-deaf Mr Speaker is more than happy be a video-vixen if the corn 🌽 is ripe and solicit for votes from the average Nigerian.
The on-field referee so far has been openly biased. Every 50-50 has been in favor of Ivory Coast.
The entire referee team has been color-blind to obvious fouls.

What is a ~lit review~ and why would graduate students and PhDs care to know?
(You tell me so I don't have to Google it.)
This is part of a series, You tell me. I may or may not know the answer, tho that's not the point; the point is your answers.
