1. Eastern part of Himachal was under Gurkha rule. Gurkhas were defeated by EIC. 2. EIC had a peace treaty that was actually accepted by Ranjit Singh knowing his own weakness. 3. In his own lifetime there were some overzealous Sikhs who accused Ranjit Singh if corrupting Sikhi.
