#1
Prospect Reed Sheppard:
Statistically one of the best shooters in CBB history as a freshman, Reed has textbook shot form, something you'd show your children to model their own shot after. He is currently shooting a scorching 55% from 3 & 63% on ATB 3s.
HERE IT IS FINALLY: MY 2024 NBA DRAFT MODEL RESULTS!
I have the 2024 expected VORP/year results as well as the 2008-2023 draft years and their expected vs actual VORP/year.
Enjoy and leave any questions down below in the replies, I'll answer for SURE!
MY LATEST PROJECT:
The model leverages the college statistics of NBA prospects and predicts their expected VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) per year in the NBA, based on 15 years of NCAA data (per

am i missing something? seems like coby white is clearly below these guys??? mostly just a scorer who isnt really that amazing at anything else?
Big Board 2.0
Probably even more controversial than my first, these top 44 are my NBA-level prospects rn.
Ask about anything, I'll reply to every comment with real explanations.
@BlockedByBamba
NGL what are you talking about? lively had insanely good productivity metrics , PPG is not production only. Being able to contribute to winning on a high level while barely scoring may have even helped his case, bronny was not productive or contributed to winning sadly.
@brayknowball
i know we're used to this by now, but if you really look at this, it's insane. this is his rookie season. the worst he will ever be. he's probably going to average 30 13 5 5 2 in a season lol
@ToxiCity12mo
@NoCeilingsNBA
lmao “bonafide bucket getter” till he shoots sub 40% for half the season as a 6’10 player with horrible defense and horrible passing
This three point shooting is not to be understated, as defenses are now aware of his high percentages, and even in high coverage during conference play, he has started to increase his %, as of Jan 22, 2024. His current TS% of 76% puts him at the highest of all drafted players.
Notable prospects this year include:
Cody Williams (-0.242)
Ajay Mitchell (-0.548)
Kevin McCullar Jr. (-0.428)
Justin Edwards (-0.774)
Kyshawn George (-0.334)
Cam Christie (-0.426)
Notable prospects bordering:
Dalton Knecht (-0.126)
Ja’Kobe Walter (-0.03)
Tristan Da SIlva (-0.02)
@xknowsball
i'm actually a lot higher on this draft than most, i think the nba is at it's highest skill level and the prospects coming out of the draft are consistently better and better. people just have no solidified top prospects so they don't know what to do. will be many steals here fs
@bipolarclefan
@bostonburning
@Precision85
yeah exactly he just needs to get better at everything in the entire fucking game! not like he has horrendous shot selection, body weight, passing skills, efficiency, defense, and athleticism!
@EDBlaugrana
@CRTLND_CEO
@LegionHoops
difference is the shots he’s taking. he’s shooting 5 a game whenever and wherever he wants bc he’s their top guy and they could care less if he shoots bad threes, pop definitely won’t be letting him do that, i’d be surprised if he takes more than 2 threes a game, so shoots better
@MrOGhimself
@JVSwaps
@sixringsofsteeI
jrue ant jmac kat gobert? hello? lol 3 all-defensive team caliber players and all of them except gobert can shoot and score at will
I’ve been working on this machine-learning model on R for a while now, and I’m constantly improving it. I expect it to get more and more accurate as the sample size increases, and as I change the formula accordingly.
All of the stats used are taken from .
Also shooting 79% on Close 2s, 44% on Far 2s, and 83% from FT, so he can really score anywhere. This efficiency is unprecedented, and there are few drafted freshmen or even sophomores that have come close to these percentages on this volume of 3s.
Using my model, I’ve determined a “cutoff” rate for prospects that are extremely unlikely to become good NBA players. There are only 3 prospects since 2008 who have been under -0.16 expected VORP/year and became >0.2 VORP/Year players (above average), as you can see in the graph.
@CoreyTulaba
wow the passing looks really excellent despite all the misses. also impressed by offball buckets that's probably a big area of importance for him. i really think his shooting is going to come around he looks so fluid doing it
@NoCeilingsNBA
holland - youngest and most production in worst situation
buzelis - all around guy that improved heavily on D but shot and ft holding him back
risacher - the cold streak might be a regression to norm based on the past
knecht - doesnt do enough at his age for me except score
@Swingtharock
@jtakuz
ive talked about this w this guy already. these people fall in love with athletic nba looking guys like the blazers fanbase did w scoot and then been trashing him for months bc hes ass right now. reed literally does everything on both ends of the court but let’s take an athlete😂
Of course, shooting is not the only positive in his game, but it is by far the most important one if he wants to succeed in the NBA. His IQ is also off the charts for a freshmen, both on defense and offense. He almost always knows when to make the right Reed (lol) on the floor.
@100guaranteed
@andreweatherman
Zach Edey, with an expected VORP per year of 2.784, which puts him in between James Harden and Lonzo Ball at EIGHTH all time since 2008!
For a 6'3 guard, his defensive metrics are extremely surprising at first, with a 2.9 BLK% and a 5.0 STL%, but once you watch his games you can tell how intelligent he is on that end. Loves to disturb passing lanes for steals and strip ball-handlers, poking and prodding all game.
@criggsNBA
im curious on why you have alex sarr under devin carter. shooting leap only happened this year, older junior, as well as not an amazing playmaker
He loves to combine both offense and defense, using his defensive IQ to get steals and offensive IQ to make quick transition passes to his running teammates. His playmaking vision is underutilized in Kentucky's offense, with a 24 AST% and a 3 AST/TO ratio, he can definitely pass.
@FearTheBrown
@andreweatherman
i'll be posting the entire list of NCAA players currently in the draft by around next week, as well as the database of predicted and actual VORP since 2008, once I fix up some things.
His defense is even more surprising when you start to see him guarding bigger guards and wings, and even contesting bigs regularly, at his average size. His strength and frame allow him to not be pushed around, like many other smaller guards at his age, and he has great footwork.
@NoCeilingsNBA
this is actually insane, fuck the shooting drills i know he can shoot, but taller than DARON HOLMES and MATAS BUZELIS is nasty work. smith is that guy.
@GlobalScouting_
completely correct. this is why i have him

. these people talking about “low ceiling” HES A FRESHMAN!!! DOING THIS!!! most insane 3pt shooting season for a freshman ever and he has no statistical faults to discredit that. led a comeback all by himself.
