Did you know there are 250 working days in 2022 if you omit all weekends? If you take away 30 days paid annual leave, 30 days paid sick leave and 10 days paid family emergency leave, then a lot of employers are paying a year’s wages for 180 days’ work? That’s half a year.

If you ever find yourself about to comment/pass judgment on or interfere in someone else’s personal life/business, take a good hard look at your home, business, community and country and see if there any issues that directly affect you that you could fix or advocate for/against.

As someone who is now reaching 40 years of age while continuing to refuse to buy a vehicle for my private use, it’s heartening to see a public transport system introduced in my lifetime. My use of it won’t be performative.

However due to the fact that accountability mechanisms such as the HRCM and the courts are systematically defanged and rendered powerless when the actions of the State are involved, an obvious case of unlawful detention and torture has lead to a custodial death in broad daylight.

The accused parties must be arrested to prevent victim/witness intimidation and destruction of evidence. Allegations of attempts to intimidate the victim have been made. Why is arrest and remand a tool to be used only when low-income blue collar criminals are involved?

This headline should read “Child Abuse Suspect Not Remanded Because of PGO/Police failure” rather than point to inadequacy of the law or implicitly try to pin the blame on the courts.

My great-grandpa from my paternal grandma’s side is from Kulhudhuffushi and my great-grandma is from Fulidhoo. My great-grandpa was granted land in Mahchangolhi. The fact they moved in the 1920s shouldn’t make them more entitled than recent migrants. #EmmengeVazan

The services offered by @AvasRide are steadily declining. Drivers take on a ride and cancel it if they find someone closer by causing loss of valuable time. Taxi cabs don’t bother to take on a ride unless they stand to get more by crossing the bridge.

A sad day for the Bar. A member of our fraternity stands accused of forging court documents seemingly to fool his supervising attorney and the client he was meant to serve in a bid to cover up his lack of action on a matter under his care.
