Here's our preliminary snowfall forecast for Friday thru Christmas. Also, clarification on previous tweet. There was a semi-colon between the 5-10+cm forecast for the GTA & 30-60+cm for snowbelt areas. The GTA is NOT the snowbelt & won't see 30-60cm! Sorry for the confusion

Tonight's sunset time will be 18 minutes later than it was in early December. The clear sky (in contrast to the recent weeks of cloudy weather) will give us daylight well after 5pm. Enjoy! :) Cold tonight, but milder for the weekend.

Early spring vs 6 more weeks of winter - aren't those 2 options saying the same thing?? 6 weeks takes us to March 15; If consistent spring weather starts mid-March isn't that an early spring in Canada? It's when we get 8, 10 & even 12 more weeks (like last year) that we get upset

30 years ago today (May 7, 1989), residents of Hamilton & Niagara woke-up to 5-15 cm of heavy wet snow. I remember it well! Daffodils & tulips were flattened under the weight of the snow. So, if you are tired of the rain, keep in mind it could be (and has been) worse! :)

24 cm of snow reported at Pearson from last night's storm (March 3-4) is more than the normal for the entire month of March (17.7 cm); That also gives us 116cm for the season which is also above normal (111cm) even if it doesn't snow again - which is highly unlikely #onwx

If we could include a disclaimer with today's forecast it would highlight the risk for snow totals to substantially over or under achieve at your specific location if temps are just a degree colder/warmer - always a risk w/ heavy precip, temps near +1C & strong wind off Lake Ont.

Gorgeous weather across the GTA & Niagara this afternoon & evening - feels to me like the best weather of the year so far with warm sunshine, temperatures in the low to mid 20s & light wind. Enjoy!! 😎

Several high temperature records this afternoon in Southern Ont. including Pearson - currently 12.2C breaking the record of 11.0C from 1991 & Hamilton 11.9C breaking the record of 10.6C from 1991; St. Catharines is 15.0C! Hard to believe wind chill was -30s less than a week ago!

Many are asking about the hazy sky. Yes, smoke from the western U.S. wildfires has reached southern Ontario. The haze/smoke should continue thru Tuesday. The haze will likely hold temperatures back by a degree or two during the day

If you noticed it was a hazy this morning you are correct. Smoke from the fires across the western U.S. is spreading east and is now over most of #ONwx .

February snow totals at Pearson are 30.8 cm; This is 128% of our normal for the entire month (24 cm); For the season (since Oct) we are at 109.6 cm; While it may not feel like a snowy winter, this is 148% of normal for the date & even above normal for entire snow season (108.5cm)

Saturday will be the calm after the storm across the GTA - a spectacular spring day w/ light wind, sunshine, lower humidity & highs in the lower 20s; Some sun & mild Sunday morning, then becoming cloudy with afternoon showers & falling temperatures; Sunny & cool early next week

Skeptical at this point that we see anything more than scattered flurries off Lake Ontario during the day - too much dry air to overcome despite cold east wind off the lake. Better moisture arrives tonight - by that time the wind direction should keep the band south of Toronto

Relatively uneventful weather next few days but increasing threat for a snow storm this weekend. Potential for 15-25 cm of snow for most of the GTA & 20-30+ cm for Hamilton/Niagara w/ extensive blowing & drifting snow & dangerous windchills; More details:

Temperature finally climbed above freezing at Pearson last night for the 1st time in March & 1st time since Feb. 24th; Past 2 weeks temps have been ~7 degrees C colder than seasonal; Milder week ahead - slightly below seasonal start but quick shot of much warmer weather late week

Closely watching Friday-Sat. for a major winter storm in vicinity of Southern Ont. Uncertain about exact storm track & placement of arctic boundary; All options still on the table - from mostly rain to substantial ice &/or heavy snow, or we just get clipped by edge; Stay tuned!

Looks like we have a slight shift north in storm track, so most of Golden Horseshoe should see snow totals near high end of 4cast ranges; Apologies, I won't be able to keep up w/ requests for localized totals today so be sure to check our app & website for your local numbers :)

You are free to disagree, but temperatures of -15C to -18C have never felt as good as they do this morning in the GTA! This time yesterday the wind chill was in the -30s. With nearly calm conditions this morning it feels roughly 15 degrees "warmer" than yesterday.
