Watched two Malayalam art-house classics this week.
Mathilukal & Vidheyan. Never seen them before.
Have newfound respect for Mammootty.
Gargantuan acting prowess & range.
In the last 40-odd days, I've lost a lot of things. A couple of kilos in bodyweight. My sense of inhibition. Job. The list goes on. Murphy's Law, I suppose.
Today feels different though. My 6-year-old nephew sent me his first email. And for some reason — I've found hope again.
Real talk.
"I've lost my job. Don't know what's next."
"Rather work elsewhere than endure this pay-cut."
"Do I continue paying rent or vacate & go home?"
"My best friend got sacked! How can I help?"
Heard (or said) any version of these sentences recently?
This 🧵is for you.

Don't know enough about Ajith as an actor. But kickass pic. Totally relate with what you've expressed too.
Everyone finds things during long rides. Sometimes, it's stuff they're not even looking for.
Can't recognise the bike but won't parts of it be too hot to lean post-ride?
Me: Amma njan oru open mic eventinu poyittu varam.
Mom: Open mico? Ath entha?
Me: Oru mic set ind, varunnavark elaam paatu paadam, instruments vaayikaam, comedy parayaam, magic tricks kaanikaam, angane okke?
Mom: Oh cheruparambath kudumbayogam meeting pwolle, alle?
Shoutout to Irinjalakuda-based KLF! An affordable milkshake for lactose-intolerant people. 50 bucks.
It comes in Pineapple, Chocolate, Vanilla, Badam, and other yum flavours 🥛
Sometimes, my childhood friends and I go months without talking or texting.
Then, they'll randomly ping, usually late at night, and we'll have a deep/meaningful conversation.
This was NOT one of those 😅
@joelumon
Oru myrum nokanda. Go chase what you want to do. Prove everyone wrong. Things will be tough but atleast you'll be happy. Fuck people & their opinions. Btech did nothing for me either.
Undergrnd poi korre theeyum aaviyum kondalle mandi nanavullu.
Be the mandi you want to eat 😅
My brother lives in a city where there is virtually no rainfall! So, he romanticises the monsoon🌧
And like any good-natured sibling 😈 I send him tons of random videos & pics to make him miss it more.
Sample: This one has hot unniappams & coffee to drive the point home 🏡
They say the Internet never forgets. Holds true for Gmail too. Every day it reminds me that, back in 2004, I was a naive & cocksure teenager!
Despite trying almost every option to change my 'sign-up' name, it remains the same 🤣.
Now, it has become my daily dose of humility.
#WritingTips
People often think the hardest part of writing something is the first line. A hook. That succinct yet profound lede. Sure, it's a great way to lure the reader in.
Here's something no one ever tells you: Conclusions matter.
Most stories stop. Great stories end.
Funny how, as a community, Malayalis shunned the electronic music + nightlife scene but then embraced mainstream prog psy, deep house, etc., when it got introduced into their cinematic soundtracks.

Does anyone else have something a teacher said burned into their brain? Mine is when I answered a question in a seminar my first semester of grad school and the professor responded, “Ah, Thompson. Quick but wrong, as usual.”
Last weekend, I made the 330 km ride from Chennai to Bangalore. The route lives up to the hype. Perfect weather conditions helped. No pitstops. Glad I invested in padded riding shorts🍑.
Even though I had an

Rare family pic from years ago. Before cancer raked its claws into our happy household. Back then, video calling wasn't the norm. My brother was in Dubai. I was in Chennai. Folks were in Kochi. Here,we're seen mocking Dad who used to say NAMASKARAM to everyone when he got drunk🤣
Someone in the family wanted to connect with a good IELTS centre. They sourced it from a person who works for an ad agency called Hammer. This is how my sister-in-law saved the number.
What do you read it as?😂🤣😂🤣
Studies show that 8 out of 10 Indians, currently sitting in a pool of sweat, are contemplating working from the office - just for central air conditioning.
