Heartwarming story out of SR ... Julia Hart hits her 1st career HR on the day the school dedicated its new scoreboard in honor of her mom Glee who passed away earlier this year & had worked tirelessly to help earn the funding for the scoreboard.
Your mom couldn’t be prouder Julia
So this was sitting in my inbox this evening. Super excited to play in the Scott Fish Bowl for the first time and help raise money to buy toys for underprivileged kids across the country.
Thank you to the great

Marcos Cintron walks off the floor for the final time as a Grove City Eagle.
@MamosMarcos
, it’s been a pleasure to watch your passion and zeal for the game these past 4 years. Good luck in your future endeavors
Grove City boys in purple 42 warmups prior to tonight’s D10 4A quarterfinal battle with Corry in honor of Jamestown’s Darian Keyser who passed away in his sleep earlier in the week.
If you have a moment today, please send some prayers my wife’s way. I won’t go into details but getting prayer warriors out in full force would be greatly appreciated
This superstar just finished her last round of radiation for breast cancer today. She has amazed me with her strength and courage every step of the way through this cancer journey. I can’t even put into words how proud I am of her!!!
Let this sink in ...
The ‘19 region golfer of the year & region baseball player of the year just dropped 41 on one of the WPIAL’s best teams in maybe his 3rd best sport?
This isn’t hyperbole -
@beith_beith
may be the best all-around athlete you’re gonna see in a long, long time.
After 9 years of losing — and 19 straight losses — to rival Slippery Rock, Grove City finally beat them win it counted for the District 10 title with a 52-41 victory
Pretty cool story out of Grove City. Rising senior Emily Donahue - who has diabetes - will attempt to play 100 holes at the Grove City Country Club Monday to raise money for juvenile diabetes research.
With an initial goal of $1500, Donahue has already reached $5000 in donations.
Grove City will be hiring long-time assistant coach Dennis Ranker as its new girls basketball coach to replace Chris Burtch.
Ranker — a Seneca Valley and University of Pittsburgh graduate — assisted Burtch for one year and former boys coach Don Fee for roughly a decade.
Please keep retired Grove City HS wrestling coach Marty Ruley and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Ruley had been hospitalized in recent weeks while fighting a really bad infection but has been sent home to hospice care so his wife Lorraine could be with him.
Congratulations to Grove City’s Zack Martin (Westminster for football), Becca Santom (Mount Union for track & field) and Clara Hannon (Grove City College for basketball) on your decisions to continue your academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
If you have a second, please keep Riley Sansom — Steve Sansom’s son — in your thoughts and prayers.
He’s the nephew of former Grove City HS standouts Dave and Brian Sansom.
His grandpa Denny is a fixture at Grove City HS basketball games
Just got confirmation from the Donahues.
Emily had 532 shots, 57 pars & 7 birdies over 120 holes to raise $6010 for juvenile diabetes research. She had complete rounds of 78, 80, 84, 81, 76 and 79.
Emily - & her dad Marty - started at 6 am and just wrapped up around 825 pm.
Is there anything Nathan Greer can’t do? The Grove City football and basketball star recorded his first hole-in-one today at the Grove City Country Club while playing with his cousin Trent Nemec (also a GCHS golf standout) and football/basketball teammate Gavin Lutz
There’s a District 10 trophy coming back to Grove City!!!!!
Congratulations to Coach Chris Kwolek and his Grove City Eagles on winning the program’s first D10 title since 1999 and fifth overall (1970, 1980, 1993, 1999, 2023)

Kolb and Abplanalp coach Pine Richland, while Phipps and Sample coach the Eagles.
Grove City caps the best season in program history with a 1-0 loss to Elizabeth Forward in the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals at SRU.

One year ago tonight, Lakeview’s Brett Beith put up a 41-point, 10-rebound double-double against WPIAL runner-up Sto-Rox at New Castle HS.
There’s no doubt in my mind that was one of the greatest individual efforts I’ve seen not only in a playoff game but EVER!
With Grove City football losing last night, my fall sports coverage schedule has come to an end. It went by in a blink of an eye but I had a blast covering my teams at GC, Lakeview, Mercer & SR. Thank you to all the coaches & players for their time & efforts this fall.
If you’re looking for something to do tonight, come down to Forker Field to watch

Not the greatest sequence of photos but here’s a closer look at Courtney Saylor’s diving catch in the fifth inning of Grove City’s 4-0 win over Knoch yesterday
The PIAA’s decision to cancel the spring sports season robbed the Beiths — Brett and his dad Bill — one last year together on the baseball diamond.

Nice gesture by the Grove City girls team before their matchup with Mercer. The entire team — including coaches — giving Mercer coach Aaron Cook a hug after a moment of silence honoring his dad - legendary Mercer boys coach Dave Cook who passed away earlier this week

Congratulations to Grove City senior Clara Hannon for scoring her 1000th career point on a free throw with 517 left in the third quarter to give the Eagles a 39-10 lead over Oil City
With my winter sports season ending with the Lakeview & SR losses, I’d like to thank all the coaches and athletes for their efforts and time getting games in.
Somehow, I was able to get my 4 schools covered 34x in 2 months. Safe to say, I’m beat but I wouldn’t change a thing.

coach Pat Forese gets together with some of his former players and assistant coaches Wednesday after the baseball field at Grove Ciry Memorial Park was renamed Forese Field in his honor prior to the Eagles’ game with Conneaut
Congratulations to Grove City senior Michael Brooks on being selected to the 3rd team all-state.
Brooks led District 10 big school players in scoring with 18.11 ppg, while also leading the Eagles in virtually every offensive statistic
Construction for Forker Field’s new turf field began Monday.
The turf along both sidelines & behind the goal posts have been removed as well as a portion of the playing surface near the home bench.
Crews were given early access to the field during the last school board meeting.
I’ve watched this 27-second clip a dozen or so times since last night and the thing I like most about it is the genuine reactions from Clara, Emma and Alli to Becca’s milestone basket.
You don’t always see love and affection like that in competitive atmospheres like athletics.
Another

@j_bush54

@RPIFootball
. Here’s a sampling of his signing day ...
Grove City junior Lizzie Malczak went over the 100-strikeout plateau on the year this afternoon in fine fashion, striking out 13 in the 7-inning perfect game against General McLane.
New look Sailors?
The Lakeview girls were looking for an alternative uniform look & settled on blue with the traditional red.
Why?
They’re the ‘Lake’view Sailors with Stoneboro Lake & Sandy Lake. It made sense to incorporate some form of blue into their color schemes
@HoopsSailor
Congratulations to Lakeview senior Amber Sefton on officially signing her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Grove City College
Congratulations to Grove City senior pitcher Mason Jones for signing his NLI to continue his academic and athletic careers at Division II Mercyhurst for the next four years

It’s a good day to be a Sailor or a Rocket. Good luck to the Lakeview and Slippery Rock girls’ basketball teams. Go get yourself a District 10 championship trophy.
Prayers to a speedy recovery to former Grove City standout and current Westminster freshman lineman Gage Dlugonski - who was having a great preseason.
He dislocated his ankle, broke the fibula and tibia at the ankle (3 separate breaks) and tore the ligaments in the ankle.

Steele is a SRHS and Slippery Rock University graduate.

A win 10 years in the making?
Tonight’s Rocket win snaps a 20-game losing streak to Grove City. Prior to tonight Slippery Rock hadn’t beaten their arch-nemesis since a 54-52 victory on 2/5/13 in Slippery Rock under Phil Bushre.
