If you're interested in reading the Re:Zero short stories but don't know where to find them or don't know after which arc/volume you should read them, well I made a guide on Google Docs that makes all of that clear. Anyways here:
Shonen authors sure do like not developing the "main ship" and pushing it to the side for most of the series and then forcibly making it extremely relevant in the last arc and attempt to make that half baked relationship one of the emotional crutches of their series's ending.
I dislike how ppl use the term ''Strong Female Characters'' bc it mostly is used in reference to female characters who are ''strong'' in ways associated with masculinity and men, and fails to acknowledge feminine strength or plenty of other ways women (and people) can be strong.
A frustrating phenomenon is when a series dedicates a lot to make viewers empathize with their main character who makes a lot of morally corrupt decisions that negatively impact the people around them, and fans will demonize the rest of the characters to justify these actions.
Why was seeing Emilia in action somehow the best part of this whole trailer? Looking absolutely flawless, and I'm absolutely loving the way they are bringing her ice brand arts magic to life.
Near every week, people will have the most inflammatory reactions to parts of MHA's new chapters. This week, the problem is that *checks notes* the villains has hobbies/interests like any other human being.
I think the biggest problem with fanservice is that most times, these sexual situations are forced onto the female characters. For the most part, they aren't willing participants with bodily agency, but rather continuously get ''accidentally'' exposed/groped or sexually harassed.
Erasing the trait that makes the oppressed group oppressed in order to unite everyone is such an abysmal way at worst and heinous way at best of concluding a series partially focused on deeply rooted systemic racism.
When I say that Re:Zero treats every character as the main character of the own story, it's no joke. There's a reason there's approximately 20 side novels (and counting) novels heavily expanding on the rest of the characters and their stories and struggles and character arcs.
Garfiel Tinsel is one of my favorite characters of all time, and so I wanted to dedicate an entire thread really delving into his own set of complicated and messy traumas and how they interlink with who he ended up becoming in the story proper, and why he acts the way he does.
@RblastisMe
So far, it has the exact same as the norm with Deku/Uraraka. Extremely half baked relationship that's been completely pushed to the side. There's major need of improvement if he has big plans for their relationship at the end.
A lot of people here seem to have this need of playing pretend at a skewed morality that is so terminally online and desperately wanting everyone to abide by that same nonsensical and hypocritical standard, and condemning everyone who doesn't follow along, and it's tiring.
dont get me wrong i love villain characters!! literally half my faves r villains but i think there should b a line drawn when the villain in question is also… a pedophile
It's weird seeing ppl slander R:Z for being dark and depressive all the time...as if the 2nd half of most arcs don't exist. R:Z can be bleak, but that only makes the climaxes filled with emotionally fulfilling character development and positive progress that much more rewarding.
@pablorozuya
Like even it failed as a subtextual ''romance'' let alone as the emotional crutch it tried to be. There's a clear lack of groundwork especially from Eren's side of things. Comparing it to the Armin/Eren friendship that had multiple episodes focused on it...makes the problem clear
''Tappei heavily suggests 12 arcs now''
THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE HEARD IN YEARS!!! LITERALLY GETTING SO HYPED WITH A GRIN ON A FACE RIGHT NOW!!! RE:ZERO HAS NEVER FAILED ME!!! NEVER!!! THE ONLY NEWS THAT MATTERS TODAY!!!
LEAK:
- As well as the Season Three announcement, there is a new Re: Zero game in production!
- Re: Zero's Arc 5 will get a Manga adaptation in Alive+ in the summer.
- Next volume is Volume 34, starts Arc 8, continues Empire Part. Tappei heavily suggests 12 Arcs now.

The problem I have with a lot of people who read fantasy as escapism is how so many of them make that everyone else's problem. Suddenly, every author has to accomodate their personal needs and wants, and only cover topics that makes them comfortable and exclude ones that don't...
Also it's a nice way to pretend that a series is ''woke'' and treats it's female characters well bc they have this ''strong female character'' when that female character is often lazily written or not given the same amount of complexity, depth or story as their male counterparts.
Thread of times the rest of the cast were ''defiant'' and/or ''suspicious'' of Subaru for reasons tied to his personality, actions and behaviors rather than anything else.
This is what happens when you see your partner as the physical representation of their whole gender instead of seeing them as their own person with their own set of interests/preferences.
The way I'm loving and enjoying the SoL side story content of Re:Zero more than over 90% of the media I've engaged with this year. This series will always have a hold on me I fear.
Well it's a wonderful thing that Re:Zero can't relate to that problem as made clear by the author himself both in the main story if you pay enough attention and said very clearly in Q&As such as this one. Built different fr fr.
There's a morbid subtext in modern isekai that commonly embraces the fact that the only way for socially beyond fucked up individual to trully thrive again as human being is to literally die and get reincarnated in a world that suits them more
And it's seen as the only solution
The moment anitwitter realizes that their fav characters don't always have to be the best written characters, that's the moment when we all will be free. It's natural for there to be a correlation between the writing and your level of appreciation, but people exaggerate.

Let women enjoy things for god's sake. Gay ships aren't inherently toxic, nor do they ruin anything. Just stay in your line and mind your business rather than try to police and gate keep. You're the toxic one, not them. Also many women on here do ship momo with jirou in fact.
Imagine getting a story as complex and layered as Re:Zero with hundredfold mysteries to solve, an extremely well-written massive cast that is seamlessly incorporated into the story, 20+ side novels to get into expanding the world/cast...and making it all about waifu wars. Like???
Even though most of the ppl they're demonizing are either innocent, mainly are demonized for having normal human flaws and/or making relatively typical mistakes, are slandered for not perfectly accommodating the MC's nonsense or/and are equally worthy of being empathized with.
Subaru finally made it on the Top 100 MAL characters with the most favs and I couldn't be happier for my boy. He deserves all this recognition and so much more.
Ppl who criticize Subaru being here don't know what well-written means. It's clear that you all are associating well-written with being conventionally likable and capable, when it has far more to do with the character being realistic, complex, nuanced, developed...like cmon now.
For my mental health, when this airs, I'll probably have to mute everyone who gave S2 less than an 8/10 who wasn't a novel reader before the fact or didn't become a novel reader after the fact. I have to put me first at the end of the day ♥️
LEAK: Here. We. Go!
I can now give you all full confirmation that Re: Zero Season 3 will be announced at Anime Japan on the 25th, as per the Volume 33 information page. I am so, so, so damned hyped for the season, I AM SO HAPPY THEY ARE FINALLY ANNNOUNCING IT!

I just want to make it clear that the fault isn't on the writers. I think it's fine to write morally gray or evil characters that you want the viewers to simply understand. The problem are fans that take it far and genuinely justify it all and demonize all the other characters.
In the context of Arc 1-6, Re:Zero's handling of it's large cast was near perfect, in a way that is so unseen in any major franchise I've seen. The deft handling of every single character's role, the gratifying momentum built and the sheer consistency of it all, was outstanding.
It's interesting that Rem is viewed as being part of this trope seeing as Rem isn't a generally nice person, honestly. She's just nice to the handful of people whom she is devoted to, and is either distantly respectful, dismissive or chaotically hypervigilant of everyone else.
I really don’t understand why Anime loves introducing nice girls who love the mc but have 0 chance of winning and being happy, like why make is hurt like this.
Reading the comments under this tweet makes it clear that there's little reason to care about most people's opinions about what I love because they're out there saying anything and everything at this point regardless of whether it makes sense or not.
Seeing certain fans gush about less the bare minimum as far as main romances go really highlights just how consistent and fantastic the writing of the Emilia/Subaru romance is to the point where every arc explores another facet of it, and adds to their overall relationship.
The Re:Zero subreddit should be terminated. The way these people talk about never every character, especially in the Emilia Camp is unbelievably infuriating. Just eternal nonsense about how everyone besides Subaru is depraved and aren't grateful enough for his godly existence.
@RblastisMe
When it comes to growing together and supporting each other, that's Deku and Bakugo...and yeah, it really has been disappointing seen the bulk of Uraraka screentime be about this barely developed "ship" with him. Horikishi needs to do a lot more with her individually.
Re:Zero fandom is very aware that there's a lot of complexity/depth behind the vast majority of the characters and they aren't defined by their superficial appeal, and yet somehow some of y'all think that Rem who was the central female character for two arcs is just her obsession
Yen Press are so dedicated to ignoring every LN side content that isn't EX to the point where they're even calling Frozen Bonds an "anime-original story" 😭
NEW MANGA ANNOUNCEMENT: Re:ZERO: The Frozen Bond
An anime-original story is now its own manga! Get a glimpse into the world of the half-elf Emilia and her spirit companion, Puck, before they first encountered Subaru Natsuki.
Notice how Echidna essentially used the same speech and actions and words in order to coax Subaru into relying on her and trusting her when he told her about his authority. This scene really highlights just how artificial and manipulative she was with Subaru.
I don’t care what anyone says, I really like this illustration. The specific colour grading is absolutely immaculate, the atmosphere is showcased in such an effective way and the contrast between Emilia and Rem (who both look fantastic here) and their environs works well.
Social media has made so many people forget that everyone has personal boundaries and that it's important to respect them. She wasn't okay with a stranger creeping up on her to reduce her to a number and that's pretty bloody understandable. Nothing worth villainizing there.
Arc 1-3 in R:Z was mainly just bouncing between 3 main locations (Royal Capital, Mansion and Lifaus Highway) with 4-5 threats and Arc 4 also bounced between 3 main locations (Sanctuary, Echidna's Castle of Dreams and Mansion) with 4-5 threats so that criticism never made sense.
Re zero season 2 feel off so hard, we went from a new location and threat every few episodes in season 1, to being stuck in 1 place dealing with the same thing all season 😴
The thing about power fantasies is that it's mainly about "taking revenge" on the people who "wronged" you meanwhile in Re:Zero, most of the people who tortured, killed, attempted to kill, abandoned or beat Subaru up have become the ones he cherishes and loves the most.
I see...
They included Meili bc they're adapting the ''Petra's Emilia Camp Struggles'' SS
They included Reid bc they're including an anime-only scene of Reinhard explaining the Astrea history
They included Volcanica bc they're incorporating Crusch's V4 speech with visual cues
I didn’t receive any LGBT+ awareness as a child. All I got was shonen anime caricaturing gay men as grossly effeminate creatures who harass teenage boys, the bible teaching me that it was an abomination and my mom telling me that it was wrong and bad.
The "every character in AoT is morally gray or awful" literally doesn't make sense to me because Falco exists. The goodest most empathetic boy to ever grace that universe who has been a bundle of thoughtfulness and consideration and politeness and selflessness and goodness.
I'm genuinely tired of all the unnecessary hate towards CritiCold like regardless of what he says, y'all will latch on to it and hate for no good reason. Everyone has their interests and hobbies that they express in their own way and there's nothing wrong with that, or with this.
First of all, these two characters are only superficially similar but ultimately very different. Second of all, now I have to see anime onlies open up their mouth about Garfiel as if their opinion has any weight/validity. Third of all, y'all need to put respect on Bakugo's name.
@RblastisMe
Not just the ship aspect, their entire dynamic is bland, underdeveloped, barely given any screentime with no depth or substance.
Contrary to Bakugo's and Deku's relationship.
And that's the problem, Uraraka is just there....she's one of the girls that's just there.
Unlike for a lot of people, I don't find Re:Zero Episode 13-18 hard to watch. I think it's Re:Zero at it's best. What's hard to watch/read though is people's reactions to that part. It's absolutely ridiculous just how much people fail to understand any of it.
I love l how ''Choose Me'' is essentially Subaru asking Beatrice to adopt him. He knows in his heart of hearts that Betty can take care of herself. She's really capable, mature and independent. He's able to admit that on the other hand, he desperately needs guidance and support.
People who dislike characters because they "cry and whine a lot" are the weakest link especially when these people dismiss the very real struggles, insecurities and problems these characters have to deal with and completely overlook the character's arc/development. Tasteless mfs
The first to yell “There was no plot development/nothing happened” but exploring characters internal/external struggles along w their relationships to the people around them and how they affect each other IS development and pushing the story along; just not in the way you want
Me when people complain about R:Z being structurally very complex with a vast interconnected cast, for having a deeply flawed MC in a general and moral sense, for having a extensive plethora of short/long term mysteries or about it constantly adding onto itself and it's cast:
Tired of fans who put zero weight into Re:Zero characters' backgrounds. Everyone else was socialized in the fantasy equivalent of medieval Europe. They are systematically set up to not be as socially aware of systems of oppression as Subaru, who came from 21st century Japan.
Two of the fandoms are on the list for the crime of having a big part of the fanbase push for gay ships and it's so funny how a lot of men on anitwitter see that as such a problem that they will group them together with the fandom that is infested with a large subset of nazis.
Let us all be surprised and outraged that the antagonist who constantly made video games reference over the course of the series...actually played video games growing up.
The way this man Tappei is expecting readers to read a whole season's worth of side content to get the most out of the most recent volume/arc of the series. Oh, he's something else.
Anyways, Rin Tohsaka has such a fantastic character arc with her struggling with following her father's footsteps and becoming a cold and calculated magus who pushes others away, which she can only do by purging the very humane and kind girl she really is.
Naw Subaru supremacists are too much. They'll literally ignore every theme of the story and instead create and perpetuate this narrative that Subaru is always right, suffered more than anyone else, is better than everyone else and is entitled to everything.
@MahoShojoNoYoru
We're never going to progress as a community until people understand that a consequence of being socialized in a sexist society, leads to the vast majority of people, especially men, to develop deeply ingrained sexist biases and beliefs. Subaru isn't close to being an exception.
