I had my fifth grade teacher tell me there's nothing more than 100%.
To her credit, she operated at like 50%, so I understand that she can't fathom over 100%.
@Austen
High school guidance counselors have pushed higher education because that’s the hidden subtext of their jobs. As if it worked out really well for them, a high school guidance counselor.

"must be so nice to just hang out at home and watch tv"
sorry, i get more done in 2 hours at home than you do in an office, getting coffee, water, lunch, more coffee, playing foosball.
@GergelyOrosz
Even if the other engineers have nothing meaningful to contribute, them participating and hearing how the decisions are made helps them buy in and understand the plan. Team B every time.
@gfodor
she needs to work on communication. give her a report card
should giving teachers a mid-year and end of year report card become common? should you publish it online for other parents to see?
@airbagged
My dogs are friendly but I never put someone in a position to have to interact with them. That’s cruel and puts the dog and person in danger. Also, most people’s dogs are not that friendly.

“The code (that someone else wrote) is a mess (I haven’t taken the time to understand it) and it will be faster (slower) and better (worse) to completely rewrite it (not covering any of the edge cases or regression that the existing one does)”

Sure, just like you can't have negative numbers of apples, but it doesn't mean that negative numbers don't exist.
She had no business teaching math, many multi-subject teachers have no business doing much more than babysitting.
@pronounced_kyle
All those books are so bad. Thought they would be fun, just awful. Low effort, confusing. Pretty sure I knew more about Organic Chemistry before reading that one.

“Another tool for managers to feel they are in control”
Thank you. I agree with everything you said.
On my team, I refuse to do story points. I don’t care if we hit everything we put in to the “sprint”, things take as long as they take to get right.
It’s all for micromanagers

When I was young, I had four dozen eggs every morning to help me grow large.
Now that I’m grown, I have five dozen eggs and I’m slightly the size of a barge!

It’s like saying that anything written is derivative of anything the author has read.
Bold claim.
Artists need to be bold though, they are concerned about being irrelevant

My only date night luck has been putting the kids to sleep, have the babysitter there after we start bedtime, do an 8:30 reservation and be the last ones at the restaurant
@NickADobos
The structured outputs are legit though. OpenAI cooked with that. There are open source ways to do it, too, like Outlines by .txt, but still, integrated in OpenAI is nice.
@JoForLiberty
Would a 5% move in the direction of liberty be better than a 5% move away from it? Libertarians sometimes work in absolutes, but it’s incremental.
@thdxr
When interviewing somebody, I want them as comfortable as possible so I can better assess if they really have what I need. Being intimidating never helps.
Never seen a CEO hustle so hard for a

@didier_lopes
meming and posting ALL DAY and he secured the top spot for OpenBB. Lots of people complaining about Product Hunt, but he just put on a master class.

100%. I’ve used Python for 15 years and it’s an absolute mess. At the end of the day, I use virtualenvs and pretty much refuse to use any other method. I know how virtualenv works, I don’t run into issues if I can pip install it and I’m fine with it. I don’t obsess over it.

Doomsday scenarios are more likely with a private AI.
Think of it like an invasive species in nature. It is so impactful because it evolves separate from the environment it takes over.
A collaborative human-ai future needs co-evolution

I’ll forfeit every dollar I’ve put into social security if I never need to contribute another dollar. Let me invest my money the way I want instead of having the government do it
@dannypostmaa
It’s not just device infrastructure. The Shortcuts app has Automations that it can run. They hook into so many apps. They have your personal data and have a reputation for privacy. Some of the newer devices have ai-ready chips. They’re going to sweep with it

Home alone 1, Kevin was cutesy, hurt them a bit.
Home alone 2, Kevin kills them multiple times over. Gasoline in the toilet for harry, electrocuting Marv.
Home alone 2 is great though
@TBendixson
Especially for PMs, I don't see myself as working "for" them, but as much "with" them. And if they don't have a coherent vision or reasoning, I can't blindly follow them. PMs sometimes see it as "their team to manage", which isn't the right mentality.

I’m glad he was compensated. I hope those who made the bad decisions were held responsible though, not just the faceless state with taxpayer money

It’s still invokes your function though, so if you’re trying to avoid invocations to save money, it won’t do completely do that. It would save time and handle avoiding database connections if that’s what the rest of the function does. It could be the proxy to another function
Ashutosh cracked the code for consistency in DALL-E 3!
Not really 100%, but it does result in more consistency.
Here, he demonstrates how to maintain character consistency. It's a bit lossy still, but works better than anything else I've tried.
Here's where it gets cool. If

Hello everyone! With the introduction of seed in DALL-E 3, the big question arises: Can we achieve consistency?
And if so, to what extent? If not,
