Re: Fans wanting Son to skip the #AsianCup . South Korea have historically been an Asian powerhouse, but the Asian Cup has been our Achilles' heel. This might be our best chance to win it & end the drought. Son has sacrificed a lot for Tottenham, he deserves this chance.

Paik Seung-ho is a European quality midfielder, but is a bit of a tweener. Solid passer, but can be inconsistent. Good in tight spaces, but not elite. Gives effort, but not defensive minded. Hope he picks the right move, not just the high profile move.

Big difference between Bento & Klinsmann. Bento had a plan. He made playing out of the back a priority, made tough decisions like dropping Jo Hyeon-woo for Kim Seung-gyu. Bento deserved time even after disappointing at the AC bc he had a philosophy.

Exactly my point. Defense is what's keeping South Korea from realizing its true potential as a footballing nation. A NT manager should be trying to unearth hidden gems, players to fit their philosophy. Instead he's off to Europe to scout players we already know plenty about.

🇰🇷 attackers are starting to catch fire again. Son Heung-min w/ a goal (technically two goals) & an assist away at Man City. Hwang Hee-chan GW goal. Cho Gue-sung w/ a brace & an assist, placing him amongst the top goal scorers in the Superliga w/ 8 league goals.

Halftime notes: -WHERE IS HONG HYUN-SEOK -0 shots on 70% possession is unacceptable. -Teams have figured out the way to beat 🇰🇷 is to press high & pounce on turnovers around the box. -4.5 games of playing with a 2 man midfield & we still haven't figured out it isn't the answer.

My Lee Han-beom agenda is alive 👀 To me he's the blueprint for what you want to see in an ideal partner next to KMJ at CB. Instead of settling for the easy pass all the time, he's great at getting the ball to midfielders & forwards to relieve pressure off the defense.

South Korea needs more presence in midfield. In EVERY game 🇰🇷 has played so far, we've lost the physical battles. Bahrain: 57% duels won Jordan: 53% duels won Malaysia: 53% duels won Hwang In-beom needs more help & Kim Min-jae can't do everything by himself in defense.

At one point in time, Kim Min-jae was the only South Korean CB in Europe. Now Kim Ji-soo, Lee Han-beom, Hwang In-taek & Lee Ye-chan have joined him. Adding in some solid K-Leaguers as well, suddenly the battle for the 2nd CB spot next to KMJ is looking like a bloodbath.

Like I said, you can never count out Iran. This Asian Cup has shown it's not a one-horse race. Tajikistan top 8. Malaysia drawing w/ 🇰🇷. Indonesia R16. Vietnam 2 goals vs Japan. Hong Kong & Syria narrow losses to Iran. Jordan beating Iraq. Iraq & now Iran beating Japan.

An idea I've been curious about is Lee Kang-in playing at false 9, kind of like how Guardiola used Messi at Barcelona. Not saying he's the next Messi ofc (don't think anyone will ever be like him), but Lee Kang-in has the vision & technique to play a similar type of role.

South Korean legend Park Ji-sung w/ some sage advice about the importance of playing time to Cho Gue-sung. Hope more 🇰🇷 youngsters understand this. Going to a "big club" doesn't matter if you're not playing enough. Don't be too comfortable w/ a bench role in the #KLeague either.

My favorite thing about this interview was about how Lee Kang-in wants to be a leader. You can tell that he wants to be "the guy" for South Korea. Park Ji-sung passed on the torch to Son Heung-min. When the day comes, Lee Kang-in will be next.

In a recent interview with GQ Korea, Lee Kang-in mentioned that his footballing idol is Diego Maradona. LKI said that he watched a lot of Maradona's highlights growing up & that Maradona's playing style & leadership greatly influenced him. I can see that in the way he plays.

🇰🇷🇷🇺 Arkadiy Romanovich Chalykh is making a lot of waves in South Korea. He was born and raised in South Korea to Russian parents, and plays for the Incheon United academy. The striker is 6’3 although he’s just turned 14. He received call-ups to South Korea U-14s this summer.

It's time for Son Heung-min to play up top for South Korea. 🇰🇷 are creating enough chances (23 shots vs Jordan & 14 shots vs Bahrain), but need to be more clinical. 4 big chances missed against Bahrain. Only 7/23 shots on target vs Jordan. Have Son focus on scoring goals.
