With Coinbase, Lightning will be enabled on exchanges that do the majority of volume in crypto (binance, kraken, okx). Lightning has no blocktime or confirmations… Instant deposit/withdrawal to/from exchanges. Study inventory management.

@jfrisch21 I don’t see why not. We might need to beef up our node implementations but no real protocol changes are needed. Lightning isn’t a blockchain, so performance scales quite linearly with the graph. It can handle crazy workloads with the right hardware and networking setups.

@mempoolmonkey I get your points but it's important to understand that payments ≠ trading. Today only a small % of bitcoiners really care about moving sats faster and it's all for payments -- it's not optimized for trading whatsoever. Trading is higher incentive
