Unfortunately, Lula only undermines his credibility as a 'neutral' actor. A lot of reckoning needs to be done in leftist & post-colonial circles in the Global South, who justifiably denounce the harms of Western imperialism, while failing to do the same against Russia.

@rianhez @XadrezVerbal É uma curiosidade genuína. Teria interesse em escutar os argumentos do Filipe sobre o tema. Estive na Ucrânia, Azerbaijão e Estônia e, conversando com as pessoas nesses lugares, a percepção que tive é que a URSS era fortemente marcada por dinâmicas coloniais.

This is a good debate. And there is more to it. According to a Nigerian colleague of mine based in Germany, flying to a conference in Eastern Europe is a preferred choice as it diminishes the risk of racist controls and border checks. Something overlooked by uni policies.

@JKleinschmidtIR Great and timely article. A condescending attitude towards 🇷🇺 is also common in LA academia. I find it amusing how intellectuals committed to anti-colonial causes often relativize 🇷🇺 sub-imperialism and marginalize 🇺🇦 agencies, which are often seen as an extension of the West.

@rianhez @leo_omagalhaes @XadrezVerbal Não é legítimo querer saber o que eles pensam, já que vivenciam essas questões mais de perto? Tem pluralidade de ideias nesse campo tb, como estamos vendo. Rotular o outro de 'assediador' por te questionar em uma premissa que é controversa é o q é ser baixo.
