All you hear about are hospitalizations, yet many who have LC didn't even require hospital treatment. Long term illness is debilitating and the seriousness of it should be publicized widely!

@hraun14 @PeteUK7 That is so true. I tried telling my hubby about monkeypox today. He's read the "news" so he said "Don't worry, it's an STD." I had to explain to him that the CDC's own website shows that it can be spread via droplets, fomites AND airborne transmission. He thinks I'm overreacting.

My 107yr old grandma was in hospital with "not covid"/s pneumonia. (She tested - despite outbreak in her residence). I feel so grateful that I was able to fly to🇨🇦and see her before she passed. I hugged her wearing a respirator/PPE gown/glasses/face shield. I loved her so much.

He was the ONLY one masked at the school. At pick-up... Me: "How'd it go? Did you keep your mask on?" Him: "For most of the day, but I took it off in the MPR at lunch. They wouldn't let me go outside, so I sat away from the other kids. I hope I didn't get Covid,"😬

@AllyKeyLime Yes, if the teacher wears an N95 and they did it outdoors, I would allow that. We'll see if she will accommodate. I'm waiting for her response. It's crazy to me that she's asking though. 2 weeks ago, a child in my daughter's class had covid. It's in her school right now!

Feeling like things are out of control. My son who ALWAYS wears a 3M Aura took the bus home without wearing it today. He told me his mask broke and he'd run out of spares in his bag. Out with the nasal sprays. Praying to a god I don't believe in that he didn't catch anything.

@luellabentley15 My husband is in the same position. Every time you feel self conscious, ask the question, "Will your colleagues take care of you, or even keep you company if you become bed ridden from Long Covid?...No." Peers matter much less than you think they do. Keep protecting yourself!

My kids are starting school tomorrow. I'm relieved that my daughter's new teacher will support letting her always keep her n95 on inside. I'm still very worried though, bc even though she'll eat outside, it's still risky. Transmission is so high right now!

@dianaberrent I've found twitter to be invaluable during the pandemic. If you only got your news from newspapers, you'd think the pandemic was over and would stop protecting yourself. Scientists on Twitter have saved thousands of lives just through educating those who would listen.

My parents haven't had covid yet, and I believe that it's only because I've been relaying the info from actual scientists I follow on Twitter, and letting them know how (and why) to stay safe. @StephTaitWrites @nb_covid_info My elderly parents who used to be cautious, stopped masking in Jan, and now they're going on a cruise! I can't talk them out of it. I always say I have no sympathy for ppl who go on cruises during a pandemic, and now it's my own parents. I can't believe it. I can't protect them😞

@xompeii It should be the state's duty to evacuate people who are incarcerated whether they are "guilty" or not. They are human beings and deserve basic human rights. Our country needs a serious overhaul. There is no basic human decency (as in "protect each other") left in government.
