When I moved to Malaysia I only had $100/RM360 to spend for my first 5 months here. Things got a bit better at the end of my first year Guess what I then did? Start a YouTube channel lol. So I had to keep saving up to buy equipment etc I eat bread for like 2.5 years straight

What's the brokest you've ever been? In college, I was reduced to eating only bread, eggs, and cheese (cheapest calories I could get) because I hadn't saved enough the previous summer and didn't want to ask my parents for money. Lost 8 pounds over april/may.

Another shock was just how chill Malaysians are lol. Coming from Lagos where everything was done in fast forward I remember the first time i saw a friend flipping out about not having breakfast. I was like 😲. It took me a while not to judge people here about having it “easy”

How conservative Malaysia generally is. Back home I could meet someone for the first time, click instantly, get invited over etc Here, it takes multiple back and forth, application letter (lol) before I’m finally let in. Even general liberal circles still tend to be conservative

I'd go to the Giant grocer to buy bread for RM2.40. I'd divide the loaf so I can have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ate bread so much that in my third year I started having stomach troubles. It'll take me a few years to eat bread again after that time

This is one of the best purchase I made last year. A wifi IR remote control. Basically it copies all the remotes for AC, fans etc. Now when I go to bed, it automatically turns on the AC when the temp hits 25° and back off again in 15 mins. I'm living in the future baby!
