Are there 'background design for storyboarding' classes? As in, efficient bg design that doesn't have to be beautifully rendered illustrations. I think a basic understanding for bg design is useful, which I generally have, but as a TV board artist I'm also kind of useless 😅

3 yrs ago today when I was a PA/Revisionist I did a test for a storyboard role. I spent the night doing it at the studio and got so little sleep, it was awesome to later find out I got the job. I worked, did the test, then worked again. It was a work sandwich (do not recommend)

I met Kathleen at a mixer years ago. Her and Mike Cedeno were so warm and friendly to a nobody like me. I remember her asking if I had met Glen Keane yet (who was present) and I said "Oh no, he looks so busy." She smiled big and said "We'll introduce you!" and guided me to him.

I just found out that my first year stop-motion teacher passed away. Most people will know her as an effects animator for Disney and Don Bluth, but to me, she was that sweet woman who only had kind words and was always happy to help me improve. RIP Kathleen Quaife😢

If you're serious about storyboarding or thinking about dipping your toes, I HIGHLY recommend Kris' lecture for actual production tips on being the best board artist you can be. Never mind the fact that he's a very seasoned board artist, director, showrunner, and studio owner!
