If San Francisco were a Texas city, it would be the 6th largest by population. Behind Fort Worth (which, Im guessing, never crosses your mind). Yet -- SF has a budget the size of Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Fort Worth -- COMBINED.

@MylesPynchon @michelletandler I think the current incentives support this. These scenes create more demand for non-profits. The non-profits, and their growing employee base, can actively campaign for the supervisors that fund them. Urban Alchemy has 1300 employees and expanded out of state.

Just closed funding on another syndicate deal 🍾 and learned lesson. The ability craft a good memo and email are 🔑. A few 💡 1) Every deal must be oversubscribed. Ideally 3-4x. Please keep it believable. If it's 7x over and you're still looking for funds it's not believable.

Because of the forest fires I invested in an indoor air quality monitor that also watches C02 levels. Now I know that about half the times I felt tired and wanted a coffee, C02 levels were high. I just needed to open the windows.

Reading studies on the efficacy of safe injection sites is a frustrating exercise. Meta studies that reference other meta studies that reference some set of studies in Vancouver in 2012. The Vancouver study ends up citing surveys of users from 2006.

A solution that allowed resumes to be centralized, updatable, controllable, AND gave the resume owner incentive to participate would benefit all involved parties (except the ATSes & resume databases...). What would allow this? Web3. Might be time to mint your first resume.

In a few years, about half the labor force will engage in some type of freelance. There are at least 6 publicly traded freelance marketplaces. Despite solid gross margins (~80%) they are mediocre businesses. TXN size is small, take rates are low, and variability is high

Creating in public 🧵 Just launched a new YouTube channel. Video is harder than audio, and I have a lot to learn on doing a podcast well. Descript makes it easy to edit audio. It can edit video, too, but matching up video scenes with talking and movement is harder.

@harryhurst I’ve found Investing time in the beginning of the interview to give background context on the role, company, and what you are looking for yields much better conversations. There many ways to direct a story, but a candidate can highlight the salient parts with background context.

The vast majority of work is doing asynchronously and through text communication. It feels anachronistic that the majority of the interview process is simultaneous and through video/in-person. Good email and IM skills are required in the current knowledge workforce.

Two years without stepping foot in an office. One day back. Im good. Offices are ngmi. Surprising to me: The pandemic upped expectations for teleconferencing video & audio quality. Execs upgraded their telepresence with high-quality cameras, microphones, & lighting.
