Niki Savva: "Morrison became the first leader in more than 50 years to spurn [the National Press Club]. Crash tackling a little boy on a footy field was obviously a much better use of his time. A strange unit for sure."
That last line cracked me up. 😂😂
Do the peeps who think George Kambosos Jr isn't the undisputed champion at 135lb until he defeats Haney also think that Canelo Alvarez needs to beat David Morrell Jr to be undisputed at 168lb?
Ring Magazine cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia fighting on the undercard of Usyk v Fury on Feb 17 will make his third bout in five months.
Other champions should take note.
Kudos to Tim Tszyu for not only talking the talk, but walking the walk.
In a 13 month span he has faced three Ring Magazine rated junior middleweights and now he will take on a dangerous, undefeated contender in knockout artist Vergil Ortiz Jr.
What's not to like?
CompuBox had Kambosos outlanding Lopez 26-9 in the last round, including 24 power shots to 7. Yet judges Glenn Feldman and Don Trella gave the 12th to Lopez. Astounding.

I'm at the pub on the worst date in the world some strange woman keeps looking over and playing with her phone.
I'ma move on to the whiskey and see how this ends...
Australia has three legit world title holders in men's boxing at the moment and I couldn't be happier.
Congrats to Jai Opetaia (Ring, WBO), Jason Moloney (WBO) and Tim Tszyu. Keep flying our flag on the world stage.
The most dangerous man at 200lbs in the world is putting in the work.
@jaiopetaia1
defends his

World title in a rematch with Mairis Briedis on 18 May in Riyadh. Tune in on

.
Just a few short hours after dispatching Ellis Zorro in emphatic style, Cruiserweight king Jai Opetaia is already on a flight home. Back in Oz in time for Christmas Day, still holding the one belt that really matters.
Not sure why people are so disappointed about Canelo potentially facing Munguia.
It's the second-best matchup in the division after Benavidez. I'll take that.
The WBC effectively giving Tyson Fury a free pass to hold their belt hostage has rendered the title irrelevant.
Thank God for Ring magazine champ Oleksandr Usyk keeping the heavyweight championship alive.
Usyk is without doubt the Fighter of the Year for 2018. Cleaned out the cruiserweight division, unified all four major titles, won the Ring belt & defended against a top-rated challenger. Not only that, he fought three times, a rarity in the modern era. Inoue deserves runner-up.
Still can't get over the toughness of Jai Opetaia. By the end of the fight his jaw was swinging like a dunny door.
One of the all-time great performances by an Aussie on the world stage.
Mark Wilson, the trainer of Ring Magazine cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia and world-rated heavyweight Justis Huni, has decided to step back from the sport.
Jai and Justis will now be trained by their respective fathers.
That ring announcer Rodney O is just terrible. Not only did he read out Gallen's name after each score to ruin any anticipation, he couldn't even get the judges' names right.
His attempts at interviews are even worse.

A good mate of mine got to meet Fighting Harada today. I believe he’s had some health issues in old age, but it looks like he was in great form today! Nearly 81 and fought the best of the best in his legendary career. One of the greatest to EVER do it and the 🐐 Japanese boxer!
Thanks to
@TimBoxeo
I've watched more club shows from around the globe in 2021 than in any year previously.
And thanks to
@asianboxing
I have been able to catch many shows from the thriving Asian boxing scene that would've otherwise slipped under the radar.
Follow these people.
Australia now has four-and-a-half reigning world champions: Jai Opetaia, Jason Moloney, Tim Tszyu, Ebanie Bridges and Cherneka Johnson.
This list could conceivably grow by two before mid-year w/ Andrew Moloney and Liam Paro in world title fights.
Exciting times ahead.
We all know that if Felix Verdejo is found guilty there will still be a corner of boxing Twitter that lauds him as a martyr the same way they do the cowardly murderer Edwin Valero.
What a shambles. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Jai Opetaia is universally recognised as The Ring champion and the best cruiserweight in the world.
Ring Magazine/IBF cruiserweight champ Jai Opetaia is on the verge of being stripped of his IBF belt if he proceeds with his defense against Zorro Ellis on the ‘Day of Reckoning’ card on Dec. 23. By

Paul Fleming is so great to watch, but every time I get excited about the kid he doesn't fight for another year.
At 32 he needs to stay active if he wants to make the most of his abundant talent.
Could fight for a world title tomorrow on ability alone.
