This @theRCN chat is quite misleading. We asked for 5% above inflation, which at one point was 14%. That makes 19%. This separate pay spine was not on the ballot and us fishing the issue of yet another party cut. We need further strike action, not capitulation.

I am proud of my nursing colleagues who have a mandate for @thercn to commence industrial action. This is not a decision any of us take lightly, but without a major change them nurses and patients will suffer even worse. Disappointed that only 43% of @bsmhft nurses voted.

I wouldn't have been able to train as a nurse if I'd had to pay fees - indeed I couldn't have done it unless my employer seconded me for the three years. Thousands of people who would be excellent nurses simply can't afford to train. No wonder we're short staffed all the time.

@pbholmes Schools seem to forget that, when you tell them your child is sick, you are not asking their permission but informing them as a courtesy. Some schools really do need to check their attitudes.

@joncstone @colin_boyle_ If I, working as a nurse, lost my temper and caused life-changing injuries to an innocent person, I would be sacked, struck off and imprisoned - and quite rightly. But if I just used a car to cause the injuries, I'd pretty much get away with it.

Hey everyone; it's not #WorldMentalHealthDay anymore, but everyone with a severe mental illness still has it. There's a huge amount of work to do to make our society work for them. And a huge amount to prevent harm from MH services.
