Last thought on coal: THE MARKET IS WRONG They say the market is never wrong, but it is this time. Thermal coal equities are in a nasty selloff MoM despite IMPROVING fundamentals. Large capital allocators cannot buy these producers, but YOU CAN. YOU don't have an ESG mandate.

Everyone likes to assume mean reversion in commodities, but this is a synthetically created supply shortage. ESG = no capital for incremental supply + tougher regs on permitting. Coal demand is at ALL TIME HIGHS, and will continue higher. Give me a REASON prices will fall.

@ldiped01 They have to insure their reclamation liabilities. At the end of a mine's life, the company must reclaim the land and it costs a pretty penny.. there's laws that regulate such activity/requirements. Pre-law, companies would mine out, then go bust and never reclaim the land.

Starting to think crude oil is the trade for 2022. It REALLY feels like covid is almost over.. basically half the world has omicron err a mild cold rn. I get the economic bear case from China RE construction, etc but there has to still be some pent up ‘Pandemic is Over’ demand.
