Toddlers have no boundaries. My 4 year old and I took a bath and I was laying here in bed and she ran up and just literally spread my buttcheeks apart for no reason. “Ask before you try and look at someone’s butthole” isn’t something I ever envisioned myself saying.

I'm always surprised that not everyone with #ADHD knows about RSD (Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria) and it's like, a real important part of having ADHD. Let's break it down!

Okay so theres this #ADHD thing where people w ADHD are notorious for wanting to do EVERYTHING THEMSELVES and NEVER ASK FOR HELP OR DELEGATE. Obviously this can contribute to our over-commitment problem & leads to stuff not getting done, being delayed or done sloppily

I’ve heard ppl w ADHD say they could never manage pets or children but (assuming you like these smol creatures), you’d be surprised how much the urgency of care and routine can actually be *supportive* of an ADHDer. It’s easier to do things for others than ourselves sometimes!

I need to take a hot second here to talk about a real special kind of neurodivergent grief: The grief of recognizing that most people don’t socialize, interact, or see the world the way you do, and that you sorta CAN’T just “be like them”.

The weirdest thing about #adhd is that you can tell people you have it and they sort of SEEM to understand, and then later are surprised and upset when you do all the things that a person with ADHD would do. Like bro what did you think I meant when I said I had ADHD?

I think one thing people forget about #ADHD is that it creates a variable capacity. People don't understand how someone can be so high-performing and then the next time, forget something completely basic and important or make a really careless mistake.

while not officially in the DSM as part of having ADHD, RSD is widely known to impact many, if not all, ADHDers. It's the perception that one is being criticized or rejected as a result of neutral stimuli.

Maybe it's a curt email from a boss or employee, or a lukewarm reception to a gift you gave someone, or a response to something you said. It kickstarts a cycle of rumination & cyclical obsessing about yourself and others that is a one way ticket to emotional dysregulationsville

It's impossible to have healthy self esteem and good boundaries when you are suffering from RSD, because everyone's opinion of you is inherently more important than yours & you are in constant crisis mode so boundaries seem moot (whic makes a lot of social problems worse)

These are great things to delegate or ask for help with. But to do that, you have to get past all the "I should have's" and the shame, guilt and embarrassment. Because its NOT WEIRD OR BAD TO ASK FOR HELP. From your spouse From your boss From your coworkers From your friends
