Here's another speed tip🧵 Web safe fonts... Use them. Before Google fonts we used fonts that were available on every computer. The reason back then was because you didn't want to use a font that the visitor's computer didn't have and for the page to show up blank or garbled.

Do me a favor and transfer your domain to a registrar that updates DNS quickly instead of having your domain registered by your web host. Cloudflare, Google Domains and Namecheap are all good options. I've been waiting for hours on a DNS change holding up a website migration.

Make sure your lazy loading is not lazy loading elements above the fold. If you lazy load above the fold you may create CLS issues for yourself. Many plugins automatically exclude things like your logo but it is good to check and do manual exclusions if need be. The biggest

If you must use fonts that have to be loaded. Load them from your site and make sure that they are in WOFF2 format. DO NOT use TTF font files. They will be on average 4x the size of the same font in WOFF2. 🧵👇

Lazy loading is a good idea. 🛑 However, you need to make sure that your content above the fold is excluded from lazy load. Most plugins have settings for this. For example your logo being lazy loaded can cause CLS problems.

@NinaClapperton I think he is in a tough spot. He is a talking head for Google. He says what Google says they are about. The problem is their product is ran by AI and machine learning now. So they only know some of the inputs. Google employees literally have no idea what is going on with changes

WordPress 6.3 is out and many people are having trouble in the WP admin dashboard after the update. Before reverting, clear unused css in your optimization plugin and then clear your own browser’s cache. That has fixed nearly every problem I’ve seen. 10+ clients.
