Right now 3 to 5" should be the floor for most of us with this event but it looks like areas from I-79 to US 119 south & east are in line for 5"+ as a heavier band sets up. This could end up a bit further north or south but I suspect a fair number end up with around a half foot.

This can change up or down but it looks like a 2-4" snow burst Wednesday night once we change over from rain. Much of this falls between about 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday...so that's 1-2" snow per hour coming down with temps crashing through the 20s and teens. Thursday looks bad!

If the wind suddenly picks up around midnight this is why. The air over us is so dry that when some rain moves over it many of the drops will evaporate, cooling the air. Cooler air is denser air and it will suddenly sink to the ground, resulting in 30 minutes of 30-45 mph gusts.
