Thread 🧵
I made this post about Megumi yesterday, good timing.
This was the FIRST time in Megumi's life, his wishes were respected by someone, who just cared about him WITHOUT any expectations. Toji/Gojo/Zenins, all of them failed him miserably, leading to this trauma-
Megumi is quite unironically the most developed character in JJK, I am just waiting for the fruits of his development.
He is product of systemic failure, child neglect, bad foster care, without any family. His story isn't flashy like Yuji, he suffers with deep mental trauma.

Also gege you FUCKING genius. We see a direct contract with this panel where gojo where meets him for the first time, and look at the difference. Genuine kindness by yuji and respect for megumi's choice VS a choice with no real agency and underlined selfish motive.
As I said in that post, Megumi IS unironically the most developed character in the manga, and now it's time to eat the fruits of seeds sown by gege from the beginning. I am PUMPED for the future chapters, I can't wait to see Megumi's arc now. Back to back two amazing chapters.👏
Yuji's unconditional empathy and kindness towards Megumi made him fight back. EVEN after Sukuna killing the only person who mattered to him (tsumiki) with HIS technique, sinking him in "bath" to corrupt his soul, Megumi is fighting BACK!!
we see him go through.
And YES Gojo too, Gojo fucked him up, badly, he was NOT a good mentor to him. I am not hating on Gojo, it's part of his character making him compelling, this distance with others, and struggling with empathy.
Imma say it again and again and no amount of those fanservice qna will change my mind cause this behaviour is very consistent in manga, but Gojo is NOT a good mentor to students and this has nothing to do with teaching them jujutsu. He cares for them but uses them all the same.
Gojo literally gave him a choice with NO real choice at all. Real choice would have been an option to let him opt out of becoming sorcerer altogether and STILL provide protection against the Zenins.
Megumi says that he doesn't care about his father, which some ppl take at face value, no man, NATURALLY a child CARES. He very obviously does (but in denial), the abandonment by toji and never really having a genuine adult take care of him, fucked him up.
Infact, adults have consistently failed him, including gojo, Megumi knew from the very start that gojo wants to use him for his political goals of changing the system, that's why you never see Megumi mentioning gojo once in this chapter. This was Infact a correct translation.
Apparently "Gege Akutami is a good mangaka" is a controversial opinion lmao.
Istg the moment something cool becomes mainstream, the quality of fandom degrades so much, so many ppl who "wanna" be cool enters the space and tries to degrade a good stuff to "feel" superior.
@ryusuu_ke
Yep man, he is not flashy or cool like Yuji or gojo, he doesn't consider himself any hero, his trauma will not get over just like that just cause its shonen, he isself destructive cause of it. He is very very realistic, love him.
Look how different the prospective of Yuji and Megumi have with life compared to Gojo/Sukuna/Geto. That's why their friendship (build on human connection) works so well contrast to gojogeto where strength was the initial factor that binded them.

What is the meaning of life?
The value of life lies in the tiny fragments, and within, lies happiness. Everyone has different definition of happiness, but at the end of the day, its the little, insignificant things that matters, that make people treasure their lives.
Imma say it again and again and no amount of those fanservice qna will change my mind cause this behaviour is very consistent in manga, but Gojo is NOT a good mentor to students and this has nothing to do with teaching them jujutsu. He cares for them but uses them all the same.
@Official_Dj72
Tells you that regardless of his care for students, he couldn't really connect with them enough to understand that this was imp. Him unable to understand other humans who are not as strong as him is his character flaw (makes him nuanced), Megumi didn't ask, he was never gonna.
Gege is genuinely a thorough writer cause even his power system is a character of it's own. Cursed Energy can't be brushed of as just a "system" in story, it has lore of it's own.
@AnCUtzaAuDitore
Ofcourse man it's necessary for the narrative, if gojo was differently written, the story would be different, DUH 😭. I am not harsh on gojo, I just tried to look at things from Megumi's perspective, Gojo being distant and unable to understand others IS important narrative point.
I really hate to be a "themes and such" merchant but what does all the students living but Gojo dies tell us and what does Gojo living but one of his students dies tell us? These two questions don't mean I want all four to live, they're just questions I'd like answered.
Shit man I saw a thread about gojo and megumi's relationship. Although I have no problem with that but it has made me realise that gojo's selfishness is considered very tame in the fandom cause of selective reading. Bro, he isn't THAT good of a person (he isn't evil, but please.)
Most female characters in fighting shonen are put there for the sake of fanservice and be treated as prizes for the MCs. If that isn't misogyny, I don't know what it is
Still thinking about Sukuna and Yuji convo 🤧
"Sukuna, you are me"
"Born bearing a curse without even knowing it. What kind of monster that we would've become was a matter of chance. But I had my grandpa. Sukuna...Let's try one more time"
YUJI mfing ITADORI 🫶
Lol, nah, most jjk fans don't. Gege is writing a shonen manga. Within THAT demographic, he is doing very good work.
He isn't Mark Twain, Franz Kafka or Dazai Osamu etc. (not that they are Gods), but as I said, he is doing a very good job writing a piece of media.
@thrushcrossxoxo
I mean, he isn't really forcing him anything, it's right here. Expressing that he would be lonely without megumi is just a desire of a friend. Yuji didn't offer him any choice, I mean, he just respected MEGUMI's choice that's all.
But I get your sentiment. 👍
#jjk266
I just read the jjk chapter, and this was one real good chapter in jjk and for me personally as well.
Gege is a very good stroy teller in his own way.
Some unorganised thoughts:
Certain JJK fans are acting like stereotype Asian parents, putting unnecessary expectations on their child, and then getting disappointed when those expectations aren't fulfilled tsk tsk.
#jjk267
I loved everything about this chapter, everything! Nobara's comeback timing was perfect. Her interaction with Yuji 🥹🤌. Loved the fact Gege showed Utahime, genuinely thought why haven't we seen her since her CT reveal.
That being said, I am logging off, TL is toxic rn.
He did, what crime did he commit for a "redemption arc", he literally buried tsumiki, what was he supposed to do after finding out about his father's death through goofy ass letter, he was only raised by tsumiki and he literally lost his resolve to live when she died.
"Null" 🤡
Holy shit woke up to this reaching 8k likes, I am ngl when i say I wrote this for my 70 odd followers 😭😭😭
Also, I never wanted this gojo megumi debate. Maybe I should have added more Toji and Zenin clan panels to point out main point is showing how megumi got mentally screwed

*a good piece of work*
*some random normie tryna be cool* :-
"it's absolutely dogshit!!! Xyz is much better!!!!
(now appreciate me mfs, I am so cool, I said a good piece of work is shitty means ppl will think my taste in media must be abyssal huihuihuihui😌)"
I liked both AOT and JJK endings. I was one of the few on tumblr liking it back then.
Same shit ruined fandom again, theories. They are cool if for fun, but if you take them as gospel and author don't parallel the same, disappointment ensures (and ships wars💀).
It's so ironic to me how a lot of former Attack on Titan fans who didn't like the ending because "it was pointless" decided to flee and jump on JJK just for it to end with another "story is a cycle and this is just the beginning" trope lmao be careful what you wish for.
I fucking HATE fandom. I don't think I ever reacted like this, but nah, had enough, I HATE it here. I don't know how so many animanga content creators deal with these hive mind braindead morons, who don't even know how to properly consume a story.
@ShamanUnholy
That entire qna was ☠️
Editor - "Listen, dude, idk why, but this guy gojo is popular af, let's make more bank out of these weirdos by giving them more info about him to feed their delulus"
Gege - FFS!!! Leave me alone!!! But ughhhhhhhhh whatever, here!
Ahh man, I really like some of my moots, they r patient n don't give knee-jerk reaction. It also goes for those who didn't end up liking something I liked, cause at least you waited and listened to other side n didn't blame the author for everything. I don't like entitled ppl tho
Ahhhh ofcourse the bEsT part of this fandom the "GOjo faNs" I hope yall r in peace
Gojo will forever be Gege's character, the only canon of him comes from Gege, whatever bullshit- cough* peak storyline, u have imagined for ur pookie in ur head, it's not real will never be. Cry 🥰
It's like...
"jjk was good till my fav was winning/alive/getting screentime. But now it's bad cause my fav isn't shown by author boo boo"
I think it also stems from the fact that their fav can't even get that in future either, cause the story is about to end.
Hot take and No hate but some fellow Sukuna fans are starting to sound like those Gojo gaggers yall hate… “JJk is boring without sukuna now”, “Sukuna d*ath was bullshit” etc
It’s Easy to not hate on JJk when ur fav is alive
I think I have calmed down a bit. Gege is gonna deliver no doubt about it. I think I should get my life together and pick up that books back log. Can't stay attached to one series forever.
Kusakabe going out of his way to tell the students (kids, victims, child soldiers) that they shouldn't feel responsible for the events of JJK is a good thing, actually.
He even acknowledges the wrongness of his own prior prejudice. This is how people heal.
I don't mind the interpretation that it's his mom. But why would gege put a woman we have NEVER seen in that panel. Plus, gege literally drew her fighting with sukuna to teach him about love.
++ her bangs! Tie her hair up and give her clothes, and it's literally her.
Ok, now that I have finally read the chapter, I really wanna know why there was so much hate for Hana? Everyone was literally tweaking to the point I, who muted every possible word and tag, still got to know about it. What is wrong with people man.
I remember making a post about this on my previous (now suspended) acc.
That I think Yuji is "false protagonist." Again before ppl jump at me, it's a literary technique.
It still means Yuji is the protagonist, but he is not necessarily the centre of the story.
this thread is getting some attention so a disclaimer, Gege didn’t say “MC-centric”. it was purely my impulsive impression using my own words abt the part that interested me after seeing the exhibition.
“JJK isn’t a story about Yuuji becoming something” is his words though.
@ShamanUnholy
I like her interpretation kinda, cause I recall uraume being called "monk kid/child." So it isn't that off canon interpretation either. I mostly see shippers reacting weird. A lot of them also don't want the other woman being yorozu, despite it making most sense canonically.🤷♀️
@Belevi23
I will sign the apology sheet, but happy announcement could be literally anything. These mfs said "big announcement" and it was just popularity poll 💀. What if it's some chibi anime series like that aot Jr. High/Rock Lee adventures/kimetsu academy shit...?
@ryusuu_ke
@ShamanUnholy
Bro if convenience is the argument you are using then honestly, gege has done that multiple time throughout the story. Yuta being there during crux in shibuya, Hana with Jacob ladder, todo helping yuji etc etc. If anything this is the most consistently convenient gege has been.
Ok shit, so this is what was going on, lmao 😭
I just unmuted the word gojo, and this is the 1st thing that popped up. I am laughing so hard icl.
Bro was like, either imma be the Strongest, or Die, or live my life freeloading as sug
@r
baby.
Q17: has he ever thought about quitting his life as a sorcerer?
A17: unlikely
Q18: has he ever imagined himself as anything other than a sorcerer?
A18: unlikely...a freeloading gigolo or sugar baby?
yall don't look at me
Ok imma say something about few female characters of JJK. (Just my personal opinion)
Mei Mei and Miwa are quite well written characters to me, considering both of them are minor characters.
(I have added shoko/utahime there in thread cause I like them both)
:-
I am a simple girl, I see hot a man (Kusakabe) and I automatically make him stronger and better in my head 😌 (Powerscaling? What's that? tsk tsk)
Kusakabe wins😌
@calypso_pepper
@pissjugson
He could have given him an option of not becoming a sorcerer at all the while also protecting him from the Zenins, letting him live normal life, he was the strongest, wasn't he? I love gojo, don't get me wrong, but I love him exactly cause he is morally grey.
Istg if I see one more post about Geto being female code or representation of women suffering, i will assume you are morons, whose ideals as big as sky but critical thinking and iq down to gutter, with toxic parasocial relationship with fictional character AND you STINK
The more I read about Stoicism, the more I hate everyone on Internet who talks about stoicism. Bruh, you r just straight up WRONG. People who hate on it on the basis of all the morons who advocate it probably never read it, and morons who advocate it DEFINITELY did not read it.
Yuji kinda did what I was originally expecting out of Kyoto school (back in 2020/21), basically contradicting the Tokyo school/Gojo's philosophy.
If gojo/sukuna looks down on ppl for being weak, then Yuji absolutely pities sukuna for having the so-called "strongest mentality"
Istg, duxk my adhd ass really, I simply opened my college notes on post modernism and existentialism. Then proceeded to waste an hour or so writing analysis of jjk ending with reference to that. I will not even post it lmao 😭😭.
To all the new followers here, I am a hella unserious, literature loving girl who dips out of this app for weeks without notice cause I got social media allergy. You are more than welcome to unfollow. Content like that thread is once in a blue moon thing, my oldy moots know😭☠️
"You are me" gives Yuji the agency he was lacking while fighting mahito, but also within the context of this conversation, it also humanises Sukuna.
👇read
1/ People are MASSIVELY misinterpeting this line "you are me" some calling it forced, or it makes no sense. its a direct parallel to mahito and yuuji conclusion. " i am you'"Lets break it down. Yuuji was at his lowest in shibuya, completely and utertly broken mentally.
Damn Gege, go write that idol manga, I don't think you will sleep well without it😭.
Whenever he tries to draw pretty girl sing, his editor tells him to stop tweaking and write sorcery fights.
More behind-scenes info from JJK Exhibition:
-Initially, Utahime’s Cursed Technique was to have her carry a karaoke microphone with a tape recorder attached, subtitles & a score displayed under her frame
Her CT would then be successful if she could sing her song till the end
@ryusuu_ke
They called me liar 🤧
Bro when the entire point of his character is solitude. How can this mf have that deep of a connection. He loved everyone but still couldn't understand them and they also loved him but couldn't understand him. HE DREW THE LINE.
Was reading on Attraction Bias, and researches are interesting.
It's true for fiction as well, cause any morally grey character who's also attractive have people justify their actions. Sometimes to the point its a completely different chr in their head.
@a_yolanda
Ummmm?? we are not talking about who was kind to megumi so Tsumiki point is useless?? I am talking about Megumi's agency. Also DUH, if gojo was that altruistic, then Megumi wouldn't be self-destructive (cause of toji too)n we wouldn't have this plot 🤨 what exactly is your point?
Idk why I feel like the school setting was more relatable to many ppl since they were easily able to compare it with naruto or mha. I think it's one of the reasons we got influx of fans when anime started.
Initial draft has more HxH or Evangelion vibes (for more niche audience)
I think I started reading jjk around start of 2020 (7-8 mon before anime I guess?) So it's been about 4 years, crazyy
But I am happy it's ending and life is also much busier than before so I don't even have time to read many series regularly, only the ones I find interesting.
HxH is COMING BACK!!!!!!
Killua and Gon ❤️ this duo is gonna comeback after LONGGG time, I am genuinely happy about it.
One GOAT taking his much deserved exist and another GOAT taking his much awaited entry.
I love multiple other series already (jjk was just one of them), but I don't think I will actively participate in any of this fandom shit. I find 99% of ppl in fandom very annoying. The only ones not are mostly artists and casual chill people with a life outside internet.
is with Yuji's character. Yuji's cog mentality was kinda complete shift of his nature, which did help him in some ways, but this, this is real Yuji, the one who loves and cares n is silly. He can't fathom someone abandoning all of that just for strength, n that's Yuji's strength.
Which is being extremely selfish and disregarding everything for the sake of strength. Sukuna can not find any beauty in the mundane and small things of life. He was absolutely thrilled when people were challenging him with HIS rules/mentality (like kashimo and gojo)-
@calypso_pepper
@pissjugson
Also, I am not pitting them against each other man, but saying Gojo was a good mentor would be incorrect cause then Megumi would have never been so self-destructive and depressed. I just like consuming the story as it is, that's all.
A Character Analysis on Megumi Fushiguro - The Shadow
( Do read this theory I posted earlier for more context and better understanding of the shadow and it's influence)
Sukuna never intentionally “ate” his twin.
It’s a biological reaction happening in his mother body which absorbed his twin into his body called “Fetus in Fetu”. For Sukuna case, his twin remains form on his eyes.
Most of Sukuna theme of “eating” is more symbolic than anything.
Shit man I want my old acc back cause I wrote a post about this too.
That gege deliberately keeps some deaths vague, so if he wants to change something he can, but doesn't necessarily mean he will.
And people have the right to be a little frustrated about it
If that was really it, that's gege's first major fumble in my books. No excuses, bro flirting in interviews with "at this point in time" instead of straight up saying the same thing he said now is weird. Big fumble
I hate these self-proclaimed "activists" speaking on misogyny. Stop speaking about an actual person like you know him. You have never met gege or even know what he looks like to call him that. JJK has a fairly decent female cast with good writing.
Why are y'all so scared of the word "misogyny" LOL if your entire female cast (minus one) is underdeveloped, underutilized, written off in the most dogshit way possible, is it really that insane to call it misogyny?
All three of them had extremely flawed view of life. Yuji tried all those things and failed. When he accepted himself again, it was then, he won.
He didn't need to "fix" anything, he just needed to accept the reality and move on.
