Transport/modal cyclist interesting and often challenging Neurology I make it all better at home myself Photographer Baker haven't made a candlestick yet though
40mph zone, I'm doing nearly 30, the truck has been tailgating me down the hill, there's strong gusting cross winds
Reported immediately, just been emailed that it's being passed to the company to deal with in house
@AndyCoxDCS
I'm not happy with
@StaffsPolice
response to this
I reckon if you chased another driver down, rammed them off the road, dragged them from their car and assaulted them all with an accomplice along to conspire with you'd get more than a suspended jail sentence
Some Vroomer was (wrongly) banging on about ride recording and saying no one ever shows good driving the other day
These drivers had been behind me for about 1 mile, no tailgating, no horns, both waited until there was enough safe space to overtake, exemplary driving
There are now around 40-60 traffic cameras destroyed every week with a cumulative cost of around £18M since the implementation of ULEZ. You see public campaigns being run on SM, encouragement from MPs and Councillors and if anyones caught a community order to pick a bit of litter
Everyone has the right to protest, but no one has the right to break the law.
We welcome this sentencing and hope it acts as a deterrent to those who intend to cause disproportionate disruption to Londoners.
Listening to comments on the news about drivers being "forced" to ride a bike to work reminds me of how running was used as a punishment at school and what a dysfunctional relationship most of the UK has with doing anything healthy
Ah but it doesn't say that does it? It does say if you knock a cyclist off their bike you could be fined and advises on a method to reduce the risk of drivers doing so but that doesn't fit your anti cyclist culture war agenda does it
If, as said by Dan Walker the officer who attended when he was hit by a car stated that his helmet saved his life then surely that means they considered the driving was dangerous enough to kill someone so it will be interesting to see how it's dealt with by the police won't it
To the 'ard man in Aldi with his wife and young child, if I'm so weak and pathetic for wearing a mask in public what the FUCK does that make you trying to start fights with asthmatics twice your age and half your size?
Hesitated about going out as it was close to 11 when I got it all together to go then at 11-03 I nearly fell silent when NO55GAS would have hit me had I not veered into the curb which until recently had a very deep pothole around the drain cover which luckily I can now ride over
“Not a single insured driver convicted of causing death by careless driving was imprisoned in London over this period. Large numbers will not get onto bicycles whilst driving behaviour that endangers them continues to go almost wholly undeterred.”
So many questions, how did the bike hanger collide with the child? was the child on the pavement when the driver hit the hanger? was the child in the car? is there anything that can't be blamed on cycling infrastructure and cyclists?
When you have MSM pushing a narrative that there's a "war on cars" or a "war on motorists" then people will start to behave as if they are at war, with violence
When I looked at the mail report on Dan Walker earlier there was 1500 comments, couple of hours on it's almost 4000, the comments mainly blame the cyclist and are a shocking example of the radicalisation of drivers that's being stoked by much of the media
How did we reach the point that the same people calling for speed limits for cyclists are also campaigning against lowering speed limits for motorised vehicles all under the banner of "road safety"
How are you supposed to debate with people who believe Magna Carta not only enshrines their right to drive a motorised vehicle anywhere but also restrict where you can ride a bicycle
Closest of the day from BV61ZFA with a solid centre line and oncoming vehicle for extra entitlement stupidity in a 30mph zone, reg seems familiar making me wonder if this was punishment for something before
#cyclelikeyoudrive
I'm waiting on an email with the details of why but the driver of J6DLP who I reported last August gave a number of reasons for driving so dangerously so no action beyond a letter is deemed appropriate in response to this offence
Age was mentioned as was 🔽
Thought I MUST have had the closest pass of the day earlier on with YY60LXB but NO!
I don't usually hit car windows but I really did want the driver to stop so I could
#seetheirside
instead of just feeling it brush past
Police, please be mindfull of how your public posts are being picked up and used to fuel anti-cycling rhetoric which is contributing to a more dangerous environment on the roads for cyclists and used to justify those dangerous driving practices
Cyclists, please be mindful of your speeds and just how this will effect you in the event of a collision. This group today on Dartmoor observed travelling at near 40mph on a 30mph restricted road. All stopped and offered appropriate words of advice 🚴♀️ 🚴♀️ 7163 &

From yesterdays ride. When the van comes into sight of me they go past 2 places to pull in and wait but chooses to accelerate towards me, I tried to make them slow down by moving to the right and as they got within 2m the driver jerked the steering in my direction violently
This is entirely the drivers fault, they didn't bother looking to the right just carried straight on to the roundabout but given the past few days local "news" articles this is also down to the lies and disinformation being spread by ReachPLC in their anti-cycling narratives
Absolutely guaranteed deliberate aggression from the driver of OU16JYX who had to gun their engine and accelerate to try and pass before the junction before brake checking me twice when I didn't run into the back of their car
There's only 1 person here behaving like they 🔽
Yes that's my wheel you hear skidding, barely had time to snatch the brakes and get in the gutter before J6DLP tries for a new hood ornament. my foot's on the pavement by the time the car passes, I'm calling that forced off the road
A50 A515 roundabout Saturday
Video clearly shows DT17UPS committing a driving offence in passing me on a roundabout, the excessive speed and cutting across my path should compound this, Derbyshire police think it only deserves a warning letter
Despite 100's of close passes, being chased by vehicles with angry drivers, being forced to stop and confronted with threats numerous times I didn't get run down or beaten in the street during 2022 so that's my cycling highlight, still being alive
As a cyclist today you have to get used to being told you should have anticipated any and all poor driving that puts us at risk....meanwhile in the real world this is what happens
@Northfieldcycl1
I can see them doing that over the initial driving but no action over someone stopping you and getting out ready to fight while the car rolls away is completely wrong, if he thinks that's Ok with the police what about next time?
@sasha_smasher
Thank you for both driving conscientiously and stopping to help, drivers like you make all the difference, sorry you had to endure the anger of other drivers
This is what it's like to be tailgated by a driver less than 2 feet behind my wheel while looking behind shouting back off as they get closer and closer until they use their horn and force their way past
@ChaseriderBus
all in 30mph zone in a village
Drives straight past the pull in and expects me to just get out the way, there's no way this driver was going to slow down until I forced the issue
They must have ranted on for 5 minutes after, full Bingo card, all my fault, people like me riding in groups all over the road are
With this being the print edition it means that everyone who drives to a supermarket today will see this anti cyclist dog whistle BS and get to stew on it a while before getting back in their cars looking for someone to take their frustrations out on....I'm not riding again today
I think the main barrier to safer roads for cyclists in the UK currently is the fact that Rishi Sunaks wife doesn't have any financial interests in bicycle manufacturing
This is just hate speech now but as it's directed against cyclists it's all just LOLs and clicks, the level of resentment and hatred being expressed by these 2 should be unacceptable in the media
"The ballsy acts of defiance have, in some cases, cost TfL a chunk of change as cameras have been taken out of action."
A quote from the Express from the article accompanying this photo, "the BALLSY ACTS" a MSM publisher praising and encouraging dangerous vandalism
I read this, it's just another regurgitation of the same sad old moans and insults all dressed up to "not be taken seriously" except is is and will be getting screamed at cyclists while people deliberately drive dangerously around them after being emboldened by reading it
If 20mph is dangerous because of drivers watching their speedo then why do those same drivers say it's Ok outside schools? surely that would mean they're driving distracted outside schools and should be campaigning for a higher speed limit outside schools to reduce distractions
This harrowing footage shows the dangers posed by those who drive whilst under the influence. You are putting your life and the lives of others at risk.
The driver was sentenced to jail after running over a cyclist in broad daylight.
Full story:
This is what happens when people see anti-cycling narratives being presented to them through MSM and SM and feel emboldened to take physical action against people who's transport choices they don't like
This is where we go wrong with road safety, describing an habitual offender walking out of court after a guilty verdict immediately committing more driving offences as a "blundering motorist" that's not a mistake it's complete contempt for road safety
I'm not going to spend 6 hours going through 12 minutes of video to show the 20+ close passes I endured on about 2 miles of road riding today as it's just too fucking depressing to realise how little many drivers care for my life and safety
@NorthantsChief
Your decision is now going to be seized upon by aggressive drivers and used to justify and excuse using their vehicles as a tool of aggression against VRUs and used as a mitigating precedent in court cases
PC Wyatt, a qualified forensic collision investigator for 22 years, added: "My main concern is that Joshua didn't have a helmet on." but fails to mention the excess speed, we're past victim blaming here this is simply justifying dangerous driving
This is an awful headline "cleared of killing cyclist" then what did kill the cyclist who was hit by a speeding driver who's phone records show he was using a phone at the time?
@xBaldiola
If you're arguing planting a bomb is legitimate protest but sitting in the road is domestic terrorism you're not really in a position to offer advice on comprehension
"Here's your mark, close enough to claim you're waiting but back far enough that no one will think you are, now wait for the cyclists.......and LIGHTS, CAMERA......annnnddd, INACTION!"
Personally I'd have gone for another take as this 1 lacks drama
How long have you been cycling on the road?
Since I was a child
No, I asked how long on the road?
Since I was a child
Really!!!!! on the road!!!!
Yes I had paper round when I was 12 and cycle proficiency at school before that all ON THE ROAD
@davidkurten
under magna carta you have the right to travel the length and breadth of this country in your own personal conveyance unhindered, they are breaking real law by limiting travel...
In September some parents will have to explain to their 6 year old kids why the woman that could easily have killed them when she hit them and trapped them under her car is still driving outside their school
@roadcc
There needs to be a change in how these offences are charged, you should not be able to admit to deliberately using a vehicle as an offensive weapon and be charged just with driving offences
Fucking cyclists!
People like this are why I CBA to respond to all the "I've been cycling every day for 40 years and never......" comments I get blaming me for drivers actions
"the judge said that whilst it was “an offence which clearly passes the custodial threshold”, he posed “absolutely no danger to the public"
.....well unless the member of the public is a cyclist but I suppose we don't count
"This bicycle path will cause restrictions on daily dog walking because cyclists and dogs could cause accidents when not in control"
A whole new level of othering has been unlocked
Well I tried, and set a new Dave Speed Record! but still didn't reach 45mph
You can see how difficult it is to maintain control from the vibration of the levers, the back of the bikes doing this too, you can't do this in central London
Sorry
@DecathlonUK
I don't want to be associated with promoting this kind of cycling around pedestrians so won't be recommending your bikes to people anymore
I'm only going to post 1 clip from riding to a road safety demo and back as there's simply too many and I'm not spending 4-5 hours making clips, this was the scariest, very close, I put the car speed at at least 50mph, had others closer but slower, probably 20-25 reportable🔽
He must know he's driving an illegal untaxed car and I make it more than clear he's being filmed a number of times and he still feels safe enough to block the road and threaten me repeatedly
This is why national speed limit on unmarked country roads is wrong, vehicle coming towards me would be considered to be doing nothing wrong, they must have been going at least 60, any animal, pothole or even a muddy patch could easily affect the vehicle path and cause a crash
This says a lot about our society
You shouldn't be talking because you committed a criminal act and it could affect the case but no can't talk I've got a media deal on the go and I don't want to spoil my payday
Narrow country road with slow down markings, blind bend with a junction opposite, oncoming cars and still the driver of MK66URU has to force their way through
This road gets muddy from farm vehicles, this could have ended a lot differently with a momentary lack of traction
Why don't I bother reporting much any more?
I reported this, police at the time said it "was clearly dangerous driving" I spent hours making statements while being treated as a hostile witness and was never told why there was NFA taken
I'm waiting on an email with the details of why but the driver of J6DLP who I reported last August gave a number of reasons for driving so dangerously so no action beyond a letter is deemed appropriate in response to this offence
Age was mentioned as was 🔽
A child crossing the street is hit by a driver, broken ankle, paramedics at scene say they were lucky to have 'escaped serious injury, all captured on CCTV as reported
Scum bag troll infers it was all set up deliberately
@ShivajiShivaLaw
Someone was randomly filming, a car randomly comes around the corner and hits a kid, 2nd car comes around the corner and randomly nearly hits kid and then both cars drive off. There was nothing random about this at all and no 20mph limit or other over-reaction will prevent it.
This is cycling in the UK, cars braking while passing as they're going too fast in a 30 with someone turning right just ahead then follows it up with a punishment pass into oncoming traffic while crossing a solid centre line
Dangerous driving for the sake of it and nothing else
@smrmerriman
Care to comment on why you wrote this about a closed road where the police were telling cyclists to disregard the lights and when you knew that to be the case?
If you're not paying enough attention while driving a motorised vehicle that you can crash into cyclists with enough force to propel someone 50m along the road then you are driving dangerously whatever the speed
The driver, who ran the two cyclists over killing them instantly and had pleaded guilty in court, had his prison sentence suspended by the judge...
Now, the deceased' widows are suing him for over £200,000 in damages
#cycling
No idea what this was about, driver of RJ08TZN wound the window down and drove very slowly while shouting some incomprehensible bollocks at me, deliberate dangerous driving and intimidation, I genuinely thought he was going to try and force me off the road, an everyday 🔽
In the multitude of reports, articles and polls on how to make the roads safer for cyclists this week one thing that none of them has covered is the thing that would enact most change which is addressing the attitude of far too many drivers towards cyclists on the roads today
SL18BPX
I watched the driver approach, I tried to make eye contact, they didn't move their head or check to the right just drove straight onto a roundabout then almost stopped 1/2 way round, elderly driver seemed confused about major road junctions, not good
@transportgovuk
What's unfair enforcement? are you claiming drivers are prosecuted for events that didn't happen or that the enforcement of motoring regulations against drivers who transgress those laws are wrong and should be stopped and if so which laws should be scrapped?
Journalist advising drivers to cope with road rage by driving in a manner designed to bring them into conflict with other road users in order to pass on their rage
@NicholasHellen
@grantshapps
Every study into red light jumping says you're wrong
People riding illegal electric motorbikes are already breaking multiple laws
@WelshConserv
This is what you're doing here, not just supporting the abuse but using it in your campaigning, you are encouraging and enabling people to take out their anger and frustrations on people cycling
If you're violently assaulted and knocked to the floor you should remain where you fall until the ambulance services can assess you for concussion or injury
