Prior to consenting your patient for a randomized clinical trial write out a list of treatment options you would recommend to your patient as standard of care. If the control arm treatment is not on your list please proceed to tear up the consent. #ASCO23

In the #GI discussion at #ASCO23 , the speaker mentions the reason for using 3y RFS rates as primary endpoint was its strong surrogacy with 5y OS rates. It’s good to have such strong rationale and discussion of surrogacy. Other trials should also provide such justification.
