There's lots of orgs involved tonight and it gets confusing. There's also 7 big branches of the Cajun Navy, which doesn't help w/ the confusion. We work super well with @CajunNavy2016 . In the end, just get in a boat, doesn't matter who is driving.

Re the lists of people in LaPlace. It's our SOP to go house-by-house in a devastated area. Having info in tells SAR that someone was inside (so we'll cut a hole in case they're incapacitated). But we'll hit all houses; most others have similar SOP.

Talked to fellow good samaritan w/ a boat at Lafitte location. His uncle's house was 13 ft off ground, had 1 ft of storm surge inside still. Positioning trailers and dropping zodiac in the water shortly. Ride to Lafitte should take ~30min, depending on debris or power lines

Maybe this is the frustration: There's at least 25 agencies, plans, committees, and TFs, between this nursing home and CSR. It shouldn't take a random out-of-town volunteer group and this much work/calls to fix it. EM feels broken sometimes. We can collectively do better.

There will surely be mourning in the days/weeks/yrs to come. Those who didn't make it will live with the rescuer for the rest of their life. But we'll also have lived to fight another day, having done everything in our power to give others the same chances. Hang in there.

Take this for what you will: @AbbieKamin (8.5 mo pregnant) and @salliealcorn have been working hand-in-hand with us and other orgs, coordinating with OEM, and distributing aid from their offices. While also dealing with their own flooded homes. Cancun does sound nice though.

3 years ago, almost to the day, Louisiana came to our rescue. Now it's time to return the favor. We have asked for an activation from ALL Texas-based teams to LA. ~230 SAR volunteers have arrived so far. The bond between our two states is deep. We ♥️ you LA. We're coming.

People are getting evicted from hotel rooms. Same offer: if any org / agency reaches out to us with someone who is about to get evicted from a hotel, we'll cover it. Money should not outweigh safety tonight. An eviction is a death sentence for some.

If any org / agency reaches out to us with a TX resident needing a hotel, we'll pay for it. We can't find hotels room - but if they do, we'll cover it on their behalf. We cannot contribute directly to general public, but want to make sure $ isn't an issue for hotel rooms.

Five years ago today, CSR was born in a leaky office as a way to help rescue our neighborhood. It'd soon go on to help rescue 25,000+. That was unintentional. It only happened because of the overwhelming love and kindness of Houston. Thank you for an incredible 5 years. ❤️
