Been alerted to this performance by 13 year old Patrick Walker who took his first 5 wicket haul in senior cricket with figures of 7 for 10, all bowled on Saturday for
@HollinsendMCC
. 👍
On club cricket, can't help but feel that it wasn't smart to grandly announce we could all play cricket from this Saturday but still not yet get the advice to facilitate that.
Fine effort to end the county season with an away victory and clinch 4th, given relegation worries. Will miss the Herculean efforts of
@BrooksyFerret
. An outstanding servant with bat and ball for Yorkshire.

Nudge for cricket clubs. Seen there will be a World Cup Small Grants Scheme with £1,000 grants made available for 3,000 recreational cricket clubs via the ECB. Keep an eye out for info from county boards (and good luck!)
I'm really pleased to say that my book on the Scarborough Cricket Festival - Last of the Summer Wickets - is OUT! Full details are here:
#summerwickets
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS! Dust off your pads. Stick your whites in the wash. Unfold that umpire's coat.
Recreational cricket has got the green light to re-start next weekend. ECB will now publish its guidelines. It's happening.
Ouch. Sanctions by Bradford Premier League against Farsley for forfeiting Priestley Cup Final. Fair?
🏏Club excluded for 4 years from BPL Cup/Shield
🏏 £2,000 fine
🏏 Can't host a cup final for 10 years
🏏 Letter of apology to be published within a week
WINNERS: Congratulations to
@stainland_cc
who are Winners of the Cricket Yorkshire Tea of the Year 2023!
🏆
@pannalcc
and
@DuncombeParkCC
are Highly Commended.
🫖 All three win lots of
@YorkshireTea
to stock them up with brews galore.
Postponement of Wakefield Thornes' next game due to a player testing positive for Covid-19 is a reminder, as if any were needed, of the situation at present. Best wishes to the player.
🫖 TEAS: Congratulations to
@RiponCricket
who have won the Cricket Yorkshire Tea of the Year, sponsored by
@YorkshireTea
. Have a read below. Incredibly high standard of entries and thanks to everyone who took part. Let's do this again in 2023! 🍰
A mention for
@bridgeholme
and groundsman Keith Hudson who have their first game of cricket since 2019 due to flooding. Here's my visit from that season. Pic on the right is how it looks now. 👌
CRICKET YORKSHIRE 50: It's back! The shortlist compiled every year celebrating those who contribute to the recreational game here in Yorkshire. Who do you know that's in?
#CY50
Very sad to hear about Dan Woods. A lovely bloke I interviewed a number of times. Generous with his time, astute reading of the game and a hugely talented cricketer.
Shocked and saddened that the county season will begin here without Cally. He was such a kind man, incredibly popular as all the tributes are showing and an assured voice juggling his myriad of regional reports or MC'ing events. Very fortunate indeed to have known him.
Understandable outrage at what happened with New Farnley. Follows similar incidents around Yorkshire such as Sicklinghall, Olicanians and others over the years. Difficult to compute. Wish them well as they bounce back.
Would be a positive move to see ECB guidance published in the next week, giving clubs/teams about a fortnight before they're theoretically able to play outdoors.
PARISH CUP: Two quality sides in
@IllingworthCC
and
@ThorntonCC
and a fitting showpiece at
@CopleyCC
. Below, Thornton's Grant Soames walks off after his 105. Gary Fellows was to offer his own batting masterclass later.

IT’S OUT! The
#CY50
is back - who’s in? Congratulations to everyone featured and their clubs, leagues, projects and performances. Have a read here, pls share and tag someone who’s in:
England availability....Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid all unavailable for county duty. Ominously, Moeen Ali can play for Worcestershire in the final game vs Yorkshire.
Believe Play-Cricket was playing up again for clubs today? Significant problem affecting thousands of clubs and oodles of fixtures. Time to go old-school for a bit?
Gripped by this Test series in Pakistan. Brook facing Nauman, both having played in the Bradford League for Bradford & Bingley which is engulfed in mist this morning.
Glorious here at
@ScarboroCricket
.
We were the first customers in the Tea Room. Felt like the head of the queue for an Apple store launch. Warm welcome. 😎
Looking positive for an April start of club cricket, if media reports of organised outdoor sport to be permitted from 29 March are accurate. All eyes on the 5pm announcement. Wonder if vectors of disease get a mention?
Adil Rashid's decision to play white-ball only for Yorkshire is a great shame. It's a contractual evolution of what's already happening with county cricket availability. Glass-half-full, this is an opportunity for the likes of Rafiq and Carver to show their class.

Sad to see two of the top six-ranked Test cricketers banned for a year but time to move on and not kick them while they're down. On a positive note, the other three are all at
@YorkshireCCC
in 2018 in Root, Pujara, Williamson!
I watched Finlay Bean make his 1st XI debut for
@York_C_C
some years back. He has progressed since. Currently 327 not out for Yorkshire 2nd XI vs Notts at Lady Bay. What a knock. 😳
Games being conceded by Premier League clubs as well as lower down the leagues. Farsley forfeiting the showpiece Bradford League cup final is worrying.
INTERVIEW: Grace Hall shares her journey from cricket at school to playing for Osbaldwick men's side at 12, coaching Clifton Park Cobras and making the Northern Diamonds squad for the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Final.

@JohnHealdPhotog
Congratulations to
@AdilRashid03
who has been awarded a Benefit Year by
@YorkshireCCC
for 2018. Quite the journey since signing scholarship terms in 2004.

🔥🔥Tom Kohler-Cadmore is seriously carving it up this season at the top of Yorkshire's batting in white-ball cricket. Must be pushing hard for County Championship consideration when it resumes in December. 😂

@rayspencer182
Thinking of all those who've made cricket teas today with games being called off.
📷 Last few weeks before our teas competition closes so take some photos this weekend if you can.
Good luck! This is
@Farsley_cc
👏
CY Twitter feed filled with excited clubs who've won promotion or titles. Commiserations to those at the other end of the scale. Shoutout to all the groundstaff, scorers and umpires across Yorkshire. 👍
TUESDAY INTERVIEW:
@Farsley_cc
President Ray Illingworth gives Yorkshire a 🚀 over player availability, bemoans 💷 in league cricket and much more:
🔥 Article, photos and podcast:
Good to see the newly formed West
Yorkshire Womens and Girls Cricket League get underway last weekend. Teams, clubs and leagues are emerging across the region. This is
@PSLCC
Sarah Wood who scored 84 against Lightcliffe Ladies. Look forward to catching a match in this league.
A bit of a rollercoaster regarding recreational cricket but it's the end result, not the dodgy LBW decisions or runouts along the way. Here's my thoughts and do share yours:

SIX OF THE BEST: With the 2022 season about a third complete, Andrew Gallon previews 6 league and cup games happening this weekend starting with
@CopleyCC
vs
@IllingworthCC
:
You can forget that Harry Brook is in his fourth Test. Third hundred of this series. Most Test runs by an Englishman in Pakistan. He has looked unflustered and in total command.
IT'S HERE!! The Cricket Yorkshire 50 for 2018. Players, scorers, writers, men and women of all ages and their awesomeness...have a read and share it round: ➡️
INTERVIEW: Chat with Rob Flack of
@York_C_C
about upgrading their facilities (new four-bay nets designed and delivered by
@totalplayLtd
), plus club signings and other news from Clifton Park:
Let's see what unfolds next week and what it means for grassroots cricket. Just need to learn the lessons of 2020. Gov not to 'announce' date of cricket's return. ECB to reveal guidelines more than 48hrs before the season. But club cricket has done it before and will be ready. 👍
🏆 🏆 🏆 TREBLE: A weekend read for you. The history-makers.
@ThorntonCC
win the treble in the
@HalifaxCL
and aim to go undefeated all season. Interview with captain Ross Soames:
David Stiff has just hit his 50 off 14 balls. Incredible
@Hangingheatoncc
hitting. Fifties too for Joe Fraser and Ben Kohler-Cadmore and mammoth sixes.
It would have been the first day of the cricket season at Headingley today with the MCCU match. Always like reconnecting with folk after winter. Uncertain times but we'll all get through it.
Hope the South Yorkshire cricket clubs like
@FishlakeCricket
and
@WathCricketClub
get all the help they need. I still remember the horror of the 2015 Boxing Day floods in West Yorkshire incl Bradford & Bingley (below).
