This guy had no appointment, just stops in the shop, raids the fridge and starts talking my ear off about how juice is better than water…
I guess it’s okay
Sitting at an 8” deficit from historical average rainfall to date. Our team doesn’t care, they show up and knock it out of the park every day, regardless of the circumstances. Very proud. Hire attitude, train skill.
Got to sneak over to Davenport County Club yesterday. The conditions were awesome and the features are incredible. Thanks
@DeanSparksgolf
for letting the guys experience another great club! Always learn something when visiting other courses.
Hole 14. Back 9 has been closed for 3 weeks. Due to construction, this fairway has only received 2 cycles of water since we closed. Amazing how resilient bentgrass is in drought conditions without constant cart traffic.
Finally, a calm, sunny day lies ahead. Grounds team has been working hard through the elements this spring to get the course ready. It’s starting to pay off! Feeling very proud of the team today!
Just finished our 2021 Swinging Bridge Member/Guest tournament. So proud of the grounds staff getting it done 7 days a week to put the course back together following the derecho. Very happy to be a part of a club with an awesome and supportive membership. What a fun event!
Scalped down a couple areas near greens last fall to create more shot options. This area had a lot of bentgrass in it to begin with. A year later, after working the height down and a lot of heavy topdressing the bent took over and it is playing great at .300”.
Typically we mow our fairways half and half, but once a month we stripe them up to help with texture. I am usually not a fan of stripes on a golf course but every once in a while a change in look is good.
Bunker edging today! 18” sloped edge on the faces with slightly “bowled” bunker bottoms will roll balls away from faces. Fairway rolling into all bunkers will capture balls while also providing a nice clean look.
Member-Guest weekend and this line decided to break three holes in. Will try and make it seem like it didn’t happen by tee off tomorrow. Btw that hole goes back a ways… it’s not always sunshine and rainbows but we make the best of it!
Getting rid of some junk. Future location for 17 tee. Trying to highlight some cool features on the property. New tees will sit along the creek giving the hole a new look!

Squeezed in our annual grounds crew outing before the majority of our staff head back to school. Great group of dedicated individuals to work with every day. Not everywhere do you find a grounds staff that love the game as much as these guys.
It all starts with a meeting by a bulldozer and then we are off! Existing bunkers on 14 stripped and expanded. One fairway bunker added. Drainage going in tomorrow. These guys are good
@TDI_Golf
During windy, dry winter stretches our bunker sand dries out and blows everywhere. We started using silt fencing 2 years ago as wind breaks to keep sand in the bunkers.
Not perfect and still some sand to redistribute but saves us a lot of clean up in the spring.
Dry turf will bounce back when conditions improve, dry turf with heavy cart traffic will not. Rope and stake are our best friend during high stress periods.
