Building applications around databases (even graph databases) in the age of LLMs feels like we're computing with abacuses instead of integrated circuits. Schemas, fields, data types, indexes, nodes, edges, etc., are already obsolete - we just don't accept it.

The borrower's card wasn't just a bureaucratic record: it was a hyper-edge linking the reader, the book, and all the other people who had read it over the years. It was a token of the community of the book: by borrowing you were carrying the flame. You belonged.

@Adrian_Cush @YouAreLobbyLud What an absolute disgrace. Gambling our lives (and our children's) on a rabidly infectious variant that we have only 3 weeks of data on. It takes longer than that for many COVID cases to end in death, and we don't know the sequelae of this variant. We won't forget.

I'll be launching Codex in 2020 and am looking for people to try it out and shape it to their needs and desires. People who see the power in relation, and who want an atlas view of it. Notes are part of that atlas, for sure, but it goes way beyond note taking.

The key to a readable, useful graph view is that it can't just show what page links to what other page. It needs to show how concepts *relate* to each other. The graph on the right shows the concepts in the text on the left, built by just pointing & clicking. No code required.

@TylerAlterman I think Vernon Blake nailed it with the idea of "veritable abstractions" (1925). The choice between "realism" and "abstraction" in the way we understand it (2022) is a false one. The Old Masters didn't "just" represent things: they created veritable (true) abstractions.
