Today we vaccinated about 400 people against monkeypox. By the time I tweeted we’d run out of vaccine the queue had disappeared and every person that turned up and queued was offered a vaccine. I am thrilled to see that we didn’t turn anyone away based on eligibility. 1/6

Monkeypox vaccine update: Over the last couple of weeks we have invited about 300 people to be vaccinated. This is approximately one tenth of the number who are eligible to receive the vaccine in our services alone. 1/10

Seeing some of the replies to this saddens me. Not being aware or educated on the facts of living with HIV is disappointing but excusable. Once the education is there though and the behaviour continues then it’s something different. It’s stigma and prejudice and needs calling out

I work in the NHS in an area decimated by public health cuts, turning away hundreds of patients as demand far exceeds capacity. Guys are contracting HIV while waiting for PrEP yet we’re unable to give the medication that we know works to all who need it. This has to end #Vote
