Here is my unpopular opinion/rant for the day:
🤬🤬🤬We need to STOP electing people to county government who have no idea how to do the job they are being elected for.🤬🤬🤬
😇😇😇We MUST establish minimum qualifications for elected positions such as AUDITORS and CLERKS.😇😇😇

Im just baffled...don't we already have a whole bunch of common sense gun laws? I think we need to enforce the laws that are already on the books. What common sense gun law(s) would have prevented this shooting or the Uvalde shooting?
Its not like we dont have laws already.

Just curious…I’m an auditor not a lawyer…do the courts every find anyone innocent? I have always heard the term “innocent until proven guilty”.

Ughhh I would be devastated and ready for war if this happened to my daughter. Kudos to the parents for only calling for her resignation.

The importance of an outside, unbiased, objective, and most importantly INDEPENDENT, investigation is totally lost in a situation like this. Whether it’s an investigation, audit, election results, etc. these must be present.

I agree and would propose that we as elected officials do more to add to the “public trust” by making sure we are not just telling the public to trust us but using tools such as auditing to add a “trust with verification” component to combat allegations of fraud, waste, & abuse!

This has some great application to auditing. The core of auditing is independence. If you are not independent of whatever it is you are auditing you can't have the necessary objectivity as well as the unbiased ability to represent your findings.

While election integrity is paramount, the proposal for a single day of voting could unintentionally disenfranchise voters who can't make it to the polls on one given day. Secure, inclusive voting methods must adapt to our modern needs. Let's find balanced solutions that enhance

2. I am talking about audits conducted by certified, licensed, independent, and objective auditors according to some professional standards such as IIA's red book or GAO's yellow book. culminating in a report that is issued and made publically available.
@DeidreHenderson
1. I think that is fantastic. However, after being in local government for almost a year and in the Federal government for almost 14 years, I have come to see the word "audit" does not mean the same thing for everyone in every situation.

5. "Audits" completed by election workers act more as internal controls...the whole process of which should be audited by someone outside who is independent. I think, in some regards, this is where we are going wrong...people have questions and are labeled as conspiracy nuts.

3. I was given a tour by Sherrie Swensen of the election and ballot counting process in Salt Lake County during the primary election this year and was impressed by the process and hard work of our county employees. In fact, I noticed a couple of legislative auditors here.
I was reminded how precious and fragile life is today. I greeted one of my neighbor friends at church today and his 21 year old grandson just started having seizures in the last week or so and is in the hospital in an induced comma. It broke my heart. Sending good vibes his way!
Leaving work and out of the corner of my eye I seriously thought someone was bent over backwards. I had to backup and take a second look. Whew…it’s been a long day.

If you don't have trainings like this where you work, there is an increased risk fraud, waste, and abuse.
