I’m really struggling with the nail techs in Kigali. The last one I tried stopped mid service to go take shots with his friend and came back with the chaser. I wish this was a joke.
my grandmother once told me that some survivors have a special bond with guava (amapera) because during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi it was one of the only things people in hiding could find to eat. Guava + rain water was what sustained them throughout most of the ordeal
I think Cinemas like
@CanalOlympiaRW
and Century Cinema should screen movies based on the events of 1994 (free of charge) as a way
#Kwibuka
and get more of the youth informed and engaged. They can screen once week for the rest of April. Just an idea 💡
Rwandan landlords will ask for $1500 rent for an apartment because ‘they don’t want to make a loss’ then have that apartment sitting empty for years cause people can’t afford them 💀💀 see losses.
Super grateful to
@CityofKigali
for creating spaces like this! Having a designated public track for walking/running has really encouraged me to be more active 🫶 And I saw so many children exercising today too!

Woke up wondering why some schools in Rwanda still require students to cut their hair? What’s the logic? And before you answer remember that these same schools allow their métisse & white students to keep their hair long. Ok, now someone please explain 🙂

Hello
@CityofKigali
😄, this vacant piece of land has such beautiful trees. Proposal to make it a public space with picnics tables for workers to be able to eat lunch during their breaks? Research shows that spending time in nature can increase creativity and improve focus!

As a new driver in Kigali, I’ve quickly realised that most traffic isn’t caused by any actual obstructions/problems but more so by (specifically) men’s egos. Like, guys would rather die than give way 😐 mpba
Opened my social media to see literally everyone I know at the polls casting their vote. Both in Rwanda and all over the diaspora. 2 million first time voters. I love that Rwanda’s youth is engaged & understand the responsibility we have in shaping our future 🇷🇼🌟

Rwandans don’t know how to name businesses AT ALL and it kills me 😭They’d have a paint business and name it one of 3 things:
Paint Kigali
Rwanda Paint
Paint 250
And when they wanna be fancy: Gorilla Paint 😭😭
why do rwandans get a dog just to have it locked in a tiny cage for 23hours a day, beat it constantly, and everyone be scared of it except for the muzamu
I need Rwanda Customs to stop sharing false information. They are always on Twitter saying goods with a value less than $100 will not get taxed and yet my goods worth less than $100 are sitting at the airport getting taxed 🤷🏾♀️ Let’s be clearer with our policies in 2024!
The way Rwandans don’t value/understand natural light hurts me cause why is your house so dark that you need to turn the lights on in the middle of the day 😭 and don’t get me started on the window tints.
Muraho 🌞 Just wanted to put this out there in case any of the
#Rwot
would like to do some shopping today. I started an organic skin & hair care company called Glow Force. 100%

✨
The gag is, people who are expressing the strongest opinions have never even stepped foot in this country 💀 Like, how are you hating from outside of the club?
The experience I’ve had trying to develop a successful Made In Rwanda brand has been awful to say the least. The institutional barriers I face trying to scale the business makes me realize why so many people give up on their ideas or move their businesses elsewhere

Just seen this while I was ordering on
@vubavubarw
! Such a great cause, customers can feed themselves and help feed local school children as well. It was integrated into the app seamlessly, made it very easy to donate. 10/10 🫶
In Kigali you can really tell who left the house in the morning and who left in the afternoon. Those who left in the morning are dressed for hot weather, those who left in the afternoon are dressed for rain.

it’s crazy how the world’s best cyclist is probably in a village somewhere in Rwanda and simply lacks the access to opportunities that’d develop them as an athlete
why would you take the time to learn how to drive, get a license, save up and buy a car, just so you can drive at a walking pace? Step on the gaassssssssssssssss
My skin & hair care business Glow Force just got new packaging and added products to the range. All natural, Made in Rwanda ✨ Restocking this Sunday on 🌿 Keep up with us on
I’m genuinely curious about what people who don’t wear earrings use to open the SIM card slot on their phone 🙃 and don’t say the actual SIM card thing cause that gets lost on day two
when will my African brothers be released from the shackles of having to wear suits to formal events 😭 traditional attire looks soooo much better and more comfortable/weather appropriate
With the curfew time back to 7pm, time in the afternoons literally goes tweeeeeeeeeeeellllvvveeeeeee, ooooooonnnneeeeeeeee, twoooooooooooooo, threefourfivesixseven
Recently found out there’s a Kwibuka Podcast (Eng & Kiny.) with detailed information on different aspects of the 1994 Genocide Against The Tutsi. This is an incredible resource for accurate information. This can be a great source to cite when writing essays!
