He is far too modest to post this himself, but absolutely delighted for my friend and colleague
@seanhollandOSS
on formally getting his CBE today. A fitting recognition of a magnificent career spent helping others. A privilege to know him.
In the times we are in, I want to re-emphasise this point. In the challenges ahead, all HSC staff are critical to our work. I can’t begin to describe the importance of every single one of my colleagues, and how much of a privilege it is to work along side them.
#thankyouHSC
This is very kind - and not a little embarrassing - and my deep thanks to Emma who has been a rock for me. But please everyone remember that this is really for the many stars of Health and Social Care in NI - at all levels, and in all jobs. We will be forever in your debt.
A gorgeous day at Windsor Castle for my husband, Richard Pengelly's investiture for his Honour for public service. I'm so very proud of him ♥️, a testimony to his tireless work over decades, so very much of it unseen by the public. A lovely ceremony. Well done 👏

A huge loss to NI, but I have no doubt he will still contribute to our work. I am indebted to Hugh for the work he has done, and the legacy he leaves. At a personal level, he has been a great source of guidance and wise counsel for me on my own learning journey. Best wishes. R.
We are proud, but also sad, to announce that our Chief Executive Hugh McCaughey has been appointed National Director of Improvement for the NHS, a prestigious job taking his patient safety and quality improvement work in our Trust to a national level. We wish him well.
I have had the privilege of working with many great people in my career - but no-one who has cared so much about the plight of others as
@seanhollandOSS
. Am genuinely delighted for this much deserved recognition of his fantastic work.
Never has a ball of fluff meant so much. She barked incessantly, she smelt a bit - but if she loved you (I was one of the lucky ones) she made sure you knew it. And if you had a tough day and came home tired, her welcome always put a smile on your face. Will miss my girl.
Just completely devastated that my wee Poppy has passed away suddenly yesterday evening.
She was the best doggo.
Loving, and loved, beyond measure.
Heartbroken. Tears are the price we pay for love. Sleep well wee one, my wee baby 💔😢.
Poppy Pengelly, forever asleep 🐾
Absolutely delighted for Michael. While a huge amount of his work is visible to the public, there is an equally huge amount that is unseen, yet makes an invaluable contribution to health and social care in NI. Privileged to call him a colleague.
Very best wishes to Martin Dillon on his retirement from
@BelfastTrust
. One of the most challenging roles in our system, held with good grace and a tireless commitment to public service. Personal thanks from me for all the advice and support. R.
On behalf of the Health and Social Care system in NI, which he led so well, I would like to express sincere condolences on the passing of Dr Maurice Hayes. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
A man who could teach us all a lesson about humility and commitment to a very important cause. Well done

Many congratulations to my colleague Andrew McCormick
@AGMcCormick
for his recognition in the Birthday Honours. Andrew continually sets an example to us all about the true meaning of public service. I couldn’t begin to describe how much I learned while working for him in DFP.
I finish today - for a while - as a civil servant to take up a new challenge. In doing so, I want to pay tribute to colleagues at all levels across NICS. It won’t necessarily be popular to say it, but as a society we owe a debt to the civil service. (1/4)
Great to read this. As we constantly highlight - colleagues in “back office” roles are every bit as important to the delivery of care as those in patient facing roles. Thank you for your great work Andrea.
Times like this really highlight the compassion and commitment of the amazing people I’m proud to call colleagues. All doing their bit to keep people safe and well. Thank you.

Two years ago today, the Delivering Together and Bengoa reports made the case for health and social care transformation. They accurately predicted the growing problems facing services, as currently organised. We have much more to do, but transformation is firmly underway.
Amazing work in SET - but that’s the norm for them. A fantastic group of people, leading the transformational charge for our HSC. Incredibly difficult challenges remain - but we couldn’t be in better hands. Thanks for everything you do. R.
We are approaching the 2nd anniversary of the launch of our Delivering Together transformation programme, and over the next week or two there will be some significant announcements about developments. In the meantime, here's a recap of where we are.
When people talk about health and social care, they often only think of the “front line”.
@FranixBD
and many like him, are as essential to the delivery of care as any clinicians. Well done Peter - it is a genuine privilege to call you a colleague.

Congratulations to Peter Wilson, won the prestigious Chairman’s Award, at the HCSA Awards Ceremony last night. He received this for his lifetime contribution to Procurement in Health. Here is a picture of Peter collecting his award.
Wonderful service today, paying tribute to 70 years of fantastic care. Amazing to hear directly from one nurse who was there on the first day. Huge obligation on us to prepare it for the next 70.
Thanks very much for today - fantastic to engage with such inspirational colleagues. A lot for us to learn from the impressive work in

Thanks to
@MACS_NI
for inviting me to visit to their new children’s therapeutic community at Dundrod. A welcome and innovative addition to residential care for 6-13 yr olds in NI.
Liam - I sincerely hope you can take some time to reflect, with huge pride, about the difference you have made. For my part, the conversations we have had have been hugely helpful and have taken us to the good place we are now at. Many thanks. R.
CPR played a crucial role in the events that unfolded during the Euro 2020 game on Saturday. It's something everyone should know.
Today I’m asking you to do something simple. Learn CPR - it could save a life.
Today, I met the people who saved my life.
I’ve been tweeting about my cardiac arrest since I woke up in the ICU and re-downloaded twitter (
@LGlaucomflecken
deleted it for my own safety and concluded that if I could figure out how to get it back, I was safe to tweet again)
And you do it in all directions Roisin. I am still very grateful for the time you took with me, when I took up post, to help me settle in and learn. R.
@wyoung68
Be kind, invest in them, allow them to express if they are struggling and support them, make them feel welcome and wanted, remember people have lives outside work and most importantly is this needs to be the entire team’s approach to new starts
Delighted to hear the success story of the first year, and how it is benefiting both individual service users and the wider Health Service. I am certain that this is with us for the long term - a great example of the community and government working in parternship. Thanks.
I have the pleasure and privilege of knowing Rita - and her lovely family - and want to add my thanks to her for her fantastic service. Best wishes for a long, healthy, happy and well deserved retirement. R.
Staff nurse Rita McCavana retired from paediatric recovery ward today. 👩⚕️
Rita worked here for 10 years but started her career in the City hospital in 1972 before coming to main recovery in the Ulster in 1986.
Happy Retirement! ✨

visited Lagan Valley Hospital today and had the opportunity to meet with a range of young people and with staff across all disciplines. Staff and young people had the opportunity to discuss various issues and engage in discussion.
For my part, while I am proud to have been one of them, as a citizen of this place I offer each and everyone of my colleagues my sincere thanks for their work and endeavour. You are all stars, and we are in your debt. R. (4/4)

That's very kind of you Liam. But I was just an echo chamber for the views of you and your colleagues who have campaigned so hard for this. Any and all credit is with you and the families who have suffered at the hands of this terrible illness. It is a privilege to know you.
@seanhollandOSS
I am also thrilled and delighted for Jackie. A fitting recognition of a wonderful public servant. It was a genuine privilege to work alongside him. R.
This has not been easy – and we would not for a moment contend that we always got it right. But that was not for lack of effort – and if I know nothing else it is that colleagues at all times did their best, and did so without fear or favour. (3/4)

@Justice_NI
Many thanks David and Tracy for your time today - was great to see first hand the fantastic work going on at Maghaberry. A real credit to colleagues across the Prison Service. R.
Throughout many challenges in recent years (in particular a global pandemic and long periods without a functioning Assembly) colleagues across NICS have stood firm in seeking to deliver the best service they could to the public. (2/4)
