A century before Said's 'Orientalism,' there was the legendary Indian Muslim scholar Shibli Numani, who challenged Eurocentrism in a travelogue called "Safarnamah-e Rum-o Misr-o Sham" (Travels to Turkey, Egypt, and Syria). Know his story. Know our story.
