Artist, Writer, Former HS Art teacher. Lifelong progressive because I love this world and would prefer it continue to exist after I'm gone. No porn, please.
@ObviousMonk
I think he kept enough of his soul to just spend the rest of his life getting things done, without govt holding him back. Being the change he wanted to see in the world. People needed homes, so he and Rosalynn built a few cities worth of homes.
@kyliejustine
I gave two weeks notice after taking a better position. My employer was livid-apparently didn't believe I could do such a thing? I was told not to come in again.I asked if they were sure, as they owed me two weeks (contract). Mentioned "wage theft" and got my pay. And 2 wks off.
@g_3_r_o
Too poor to miss work for covid.
Too poor to find a new job for fear of losing the bad insurance that is better than none-and tied to the job.
Too poor to protest or strike.
Biden pushed overtime instead of raising minimum wage for poverty wages-keep them poor and exhausted.
@IrvineWelsh
So painful to be living through. It's not even as though the left demanded anything really radical at all. Free healthcare. Housing for the destitute. A living wage so there would not be as many destitute. A clean environment. The rich could have remained so. They wanted it all.
@johnpavlovitz
I can't believe people are even being pushed back into working onsite who could work remotely. the president should not be telling folks not to work from home with 1000+ dying per day. Remember how shocking it was when we first hit 1000 deaths a day? It should be still.
@Lesdoggg
And this is why I am so upset that we couldn't have Elizabeth Warren for president. Biden jumped in to represent the donor class' interests as she moved into the lead. They were terrified of being taxed 2%. We could have had so much more than we have now, as a country.
@janevandis
People will be shocked at how quickly deaths will explode like this in humid environments. Everyone needs to research wet bulb events and start doing what they can to prepare/help. Researchers cite 88-95' at 100% humidity as fatal. Think about all the new, torrential storms+heat.
@MorganGodvin
Providence Hospital in Portland-where I had 11 heart attacks over 22 hrs as I was ignored -unmonitored-after being brought in by emt who found me spasming with pulse ox under 80. Who fed me nitro. I survived because one nurse stayed with me and fed me 20 tablets as one wore off.
Its a very small thing, but I also just booked a week on airbnb in Uman, Ukraine.Of course I'm not going (I let Anna the host know) but it will get a little money into someone's pocket there.Very quick and easy to do and Air bnb is now waiving fees so hosts receive all money.
@confettios1
@johnpavlovitz
Remember leisurely Sunday breakfast reading the papers for hours? I had more weekly or monthly rituals that created anticipation before everything became available all the time. After dinner walks around the neighborhood.
This is so true. I've learned to say 'I'm going to need time to process this.' I know immediately when something bothers me but I can't always put it into words-or figure out the best, most accurate way to express myself w/o some time.
Delayed emotional processing sucks because when people ask, "Why didn't you tell me that bothered you earlier?" you need to explain that it normally takes 3-5 business days to realize you were bothered.
@TheGregoryE
I'm just one consumer, but after learning yesterday how studios were planning on not negotiating until their employees were really hurting and losing their homes in Oct, I won't be streaming or going to movies. Strong unions matter.
@ryangrim
Wow. Withholding food from poor people here because the food bank criticized the withholding of food from starving people and killing aid workers trying to feed them. Well done, local synagogues. Isn't that just reinforcing that you agree starving human beings is okay?
@muhammadshehad2
@Squirrel_MA
Israel does this openly because Biden has said repeatedly in the strongest possible terms that he will never stop sending weapons. Gearing up for war in Iran, now. Aid effectively stopped and Gaza flattened so those new 2000lb bombs earmarked elsewhere.
@emrazz
And younger less experienced women need to learn they really are being gaslit. And that's not love, or respect. We should always be helping them if we can.
@AVindman
Thank you for plainly stating what so many of us believe-that we are where we are today through our inaction; for not actively standing up forcefully for our own values.
@MakeTexasBlue22
It's worse.They coordinated it with MBS and forced Khashoggi to go to the embassy in Turkey for visas he could and should have gotten in the US. Kushner literally helped MBS set it up.And Trump was loved it. Don't you remember how he touted "strong leaders" who killed reporters?
@dreamhampton
! Happened to me once-a stranger in Seattle was talking about a girl who wore a red satin 19th ballgown to a black and white ball at U of Idaho Art and Architecture school bash. It was me. Wish I had a picture.
@jsench
One of my best decisions in 10 yrs teaching HS Art was to tell students if they burned me cds of their favorite music Iβd preview it and play it in class if I liked it (while we worked).
We shared our fav music that way...miss those guys.
@TG22110
I got my first pair in 4th grade and had the same reaction.I thought my eyes were normal, but at a ball game my parents noticed I couldn't see the scoreboard. I couldn't stop looking at the beautiful trees-and leaves! I still love my glasses. They make me happy every day.ππ

Thank you Admiral Green! As the daughter of a veteran, I know how important this is to push back on. Thank you for trying to uphold the morale of our troops.

The Crawling Hand. Still can't sleep without the covers covering my neck. My dad loved horror and sci fi films and we watched them all. Miss having him pop up outside my bedroom window in a Godzilla mask after I'd just calmed down after watching the film. His fav trick.π
@MerylORourke
@ask_aubry
I've had both. My cramps (undiagnosed fibroids til 36) were excruciating. The heart attack was extremely painful, but only lasted until I passed out-so not long. Didn't even compare to the pain of cramps, which lasted many hours. Heart was definitely a more muffled pain.
@jasonhickel
It doesn't matter if these lawsuits are beginning to win against this companies.This normalizes fines, which mean nothing to the business and will be priced in for consumers to pay. We need serious jail time, and absolutely liquidation of assets.Contract murderers and pay a fine?
@TheUSASingers
@TG22110
I was so sad when I saw this last night and hoped when I awoke it would be a mistake. TG was one of the first people to reach out and follow me here.He made me feel welcome, and as though I mattered, just as he did for everyone. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, and us.

I dream of being able to cross the border once more. My favorite summer road trip: up the west side of Kootenay Lake. Hiking, soaking in hot springs. Ferry across to the other side and explore some more...
@alexanderbolton
So workers will need to pay in advance for leave they will need in the future, allowing profit to be made by the administrators.Interest that should have been going to the worker; fees, etc. This is obscene. Higher paid employees already have great family leave.
@broadwaybabyto
One million+ covid dead since 2021-we don't know the numbers because no mandatory reporting. No more free tests so we can test ourselves (they are expensive) and currently babies-infants and toddlers are the largest number of those hospitalized. Far surpassing the elderly.
@bader_diedrich
I feel this deeply.I was okay with dying with Hillary as Prez, but last year was so hard feeling like I would die with Trump in charge and our country leading the way in climate denial and general destruction of the planet. After the hope Obama gave me,I felt despair for us all.
@alon_mizrahi
@ozfidanaslihan1
Yes-they mean forever. As climate refugees look for help this will absolutely be the response. They are trying to normalize it with enough people that it will simply seem like legitimate policy.
@MrAndrewCotter
Thailand last year and got a small hole in my eardrum diving. A short walk to the pharmacy from the dive boat, and for a couple of dollars eardrops and proper diagnosis. Same all over Asia. No expensive drs or bills for so many common infections. Cheap effective treatment.
@alexandrite113
It was a few months of so few cars on the road that air pollution immediately cleared. Foxes, rabbits and otters using the roads. Of every suburb becoming a neighborhood where we said hello to each other as we took long walks and bike rides. Seeing on Zoom more often than ever.
Trump only lost the 2020 election by 44,000 votes. If
#Zelensky
had buckled under Trumpβs threats, the outcome wouldβve been different. Trump withheld military aid and now Ukrainians are dying in burnt buildings.

Yes! Too many huge projects in the wrong places because of greed-contractors vying for huge gov't contracts with no regard for the land instead of smaller urban installations that would add up to even more sq footage. But less immediate profit.

He's showing he's actually okay if states revoke child labor laws, enslave women, pollute whatever they want, etc..-because it helps his reelection.

+as each wore off. I was called a liar when correctly reporting my lifelong arithmymia-I even had a monitor on my chest.I was called a liar when I told them I had cancer-even though I had a port in my chest.All because one arrogant doc in the ER declared w/o an exam I was faking.
@itslaylas
I'm sorry you are getting this. I've campaigned and organized in my community all my life and I agree. Dems have pushed me out of the party with their hatred/gaslighting.
@davenewworld_2
I remember being so glad to have Cecil Andrus as our governor-and also glad when he became Sec of Int under Carter. He even came back and had another two terms as governor. Last Democratic politician to hold that office. 27 yrs of Republican leadership takes a brutal toll.

It was rampant when I was in school-and I have several (male) acquaintances who upon getting their first asst. prof. position were downright gleeful at the prospect of getting to date some of those hot young coeds. No problem at all. Seemed like the whole point for them.
@monaeltahawy
I first saw a woman with really hairy armpits on a bus in Italy. I thought it was the sexiest thing ever and made the decision then and there not to shave. (I was a hairless teen). She was just such luscious animal. I wanted to be her when I grew up.
@mattduss
@emptywheel
And worse-the hypocrisy of bypassing Congress to get all the weapons Israel wanted to them by dividing them into smaller packages-and refusing to do that for Ukraine. Supporting the genocide unconditionally instead of the righteous fight.
@gaywonk
I was feeling the same. Useless, with cancer during a pandemic. I got 1000 fir seedlings and take 140 out each day to plant with my dog and old truck. Useless to useful. And any day in the woods is a good dayπ²π
@GurdeepPandher
I think you were lucky enough to see a fisher. I saw one recently in the wild for the first time. When I was a HS teacher, my students helped with a habitat survey used to help release fishers back into N. Cascades Park...an important predator.π
@MorganGodvin
Typos(!)-clearly just reading Providence Hosp is enraging for me. I was luckier than the gentleman discharged, but only because one exp. Filipina nurse (made to start over as CNA) refused to ignore me and acted to help.She was assigned to me as a racist insult.
She saved me.
@YousefAlsweisi
I will never forget any of you. I will never forgive any of those responsible. I will not stop bearing witness and sharing what is happening to you with anyone I can.
Heartbreaking to lose Katie Porter and Barbara Lee from the House next year. There seems to be a perpetual scramble for Senate races but little strategy to hold the House year after year.
Absolutely this. In so many other countries women have more rights enshrined in law than in the US. But we don't learn about politics in other places unless we choose to study this post secondary.
So successful has white supremacist patriarchy been at convincing white women that theyβre lucky to live in the U.S. and not Saudi Arabia/Iran, that so many white women didn't pay enough attention to the theocracy that white supremacy was building at home.
@inthesetimesmag
The best, most well-reasoned and complete resignation letter from a presidential appointee. Thank you.
Biden will ignore it and send more weapons. And more voters will end up hating him with a passion that eclipses what we felt for that other one.
@vinayrkrishnan
He hasn't shown any sign at all of caring about the roughly 1 million people dead of covid on his watch.
We have to estimate just like we do about the body count in Gaza. Reporters are murdered in one case, and reporting shut down in the other.

I lived in N ID after Dad retired from USAF. My sr yr the first black family came to town. Years later I was back and said hi to one of the boys, now a man working in the grocery store. He told me I was one of the few kids who would talk to him in school-broke my heart.

Agree.Many folks don't know that some of the most common and useful alterations are doable at home-with or without a machine. Hems, a simple dart. They can make all the difference. I love using tailors, too.πI was darning a sock recently and my cousin asked me what I was doingπ ββοΈ

Another hit on me in front of his wife at a party at his house. I told him to get lost, introduced myself to her, and we enjoyed a nice talk while he pouted. These guys were in their 40's-50's. I was a teen. How many girls have dropped out because of this?

I am. First lying about student protestors on tv, then last night's performance. To encourage him to keep going means she is just as selfish and in love with being flotus
as he is determined to cling to his office.

During an ablation I kept training my head trying to watch the images on the big screen. I was loopy enough to think the whole thing was immensely fun and fascinating. Doctor had to knock me out. After I apologized profusely.

The police are ready-Israeli trained and well stocked with weapons.
Elections are no longer elections.

Child labor is legalized.
Even lower wages are legalized.

Many similarities between the for profit prison/dention systems and foster/adoption systems. Many of the same politicians receiving the same rewards.
@PushBidenLeft
Yep.The Dems forced a president through who absolutely agrees with all of this courts rulings. He would never do anything to stop them. He has never agreed with Roe, and wants to engage in war crimes freely. He certainly would love to more openly accept bribes.Helps his son, too.

@amcampbell84

Agree. It was so harmful for me to give my abusive family a chance to show they had changed.They hadn't. Was more damaging than I expected-I'd had a great couple of decades w/o em', and they quickly dragged me right back down.And I knew better. You don't have to heal anyone else.
@jdibon
My heart attack at 22 was dismissed (I passed out without being able to crawl to the phone because of that elephant on my chest-and awoke hours later just able to crawl to bed) with this "You couldn't have had a heart attack. Women your age never have heart attacks."
Keep trying.
@DanWuori
@MillerMj314
Absolutely. I would usually ask, "Is it scary or surprising?" with my curious smile. Invariably they would smile and say "Prising!"
Hard to deny that. But whereβs the FBI? Or, for that matter, the Criminal Division of DOJ? Or the US Attorney for DC? Maybe waiting for Divine Revelation?

Poor little guy. Glad he survived. Mine heard a pack middle of the night and ran out of my tent too quick to grab-he wanted to join them.
I searched for hours, cried myself to sleep, and he showed up at dawn tired but intact. Thought for sure they'd eat him.
@shaun_vids
In other words he lies And they are the most consequential lies imaginable. Add these lies to his lies about the pandemic and the lies he ordered his admin to tell in it's report on whether or not Israel restricts aid to Gaza. And the biggest lie-that he cares about the planet.
@likaluca
@BlkLibraryGirl
Mean? Bombing starving families sleeping in tents after assassinating their doctors and razing all the hospitals is 'mean'. Telling a racist genocidal billionaire to stop is not. Quite the opposite.

My favorite plant! protein packed yellow pollen, one of the tastiest green veggies, delicious tubers, leaves for thatch/weaving, insulation from fluffy seeds, and when green a tiny tasty veggie like a little mini corn. And one of the best to filter polluted water to potable.

We blew right through it. Non stop growth, new concrete everywhere we can put it, and dropping 100,000 tons of explosives on Gaza in mere months can tend to warm up the atmosphere.

First and foremost, I would say-don't think of these issues as 'women's' issues. Make them your issues, male issues, because they are. Equal rights are human issues, and every aspect of misogyny affects us all. Don't think of ally-ship. Think this is your fight personally.
