There's something about how this fandom seems to only base Louis characterization around Lestat that comes across incredibly racist to me. Like they can't recognize anything about Louis as a character without Lestat's presence
jacob making it clear that the end of ep4 and the subsequent ep6 parisian mess was louis' attempt of becoming who he was before lestat, before he'd experienced love, before he'd had a taste of who he could be. wow.
You are so disgusting. You would rather weaponize racist rhetoric against Louis than see Louis as a victim of Lestat's abuse that is clearly depicted in the show. Lestat stans are truly the most repugnantly racist individuals I have encountered in any Fandom space.
ppl will call consensual dom/sub play sexual assault to villainize louis but not talk abt the fact that louis has been unable to consent wrt sex with armand since 1973 at least bc of how armand's been gaslighting him. like if you wanna talk abt assault let's talk abt assault
Lestat's abuse is truly so much kinder than Armands😍 At least Louis could Grab a book and read through his one good eye while recovering from having every bone in his body broken by Lestat ❤
lestat buying louis a whole library for their townhouse because he knows louis loves to read vs armand putting the bookshelves in their penthouse high up because he knows louis can't access it ..... 😭😭
You people use a few seconds clip of Lestat to come to the conclusion that he's being mind controlled during the trial, yet Louis saying that he disassociated while having sex with his abuser, while Bruce's face is displayed over Lestat's is too subtle.
a show that doesn’t beat around the bush with sexual assault and explicitly states when a character is is a victim of rape or abuse isn’t going to lightly allude to rape it’s going to show it outright
The lengths the show goes through to inform the audience that Lestat is the patriarch looming over both Louis and Claudia in that household.... Y'all cannot be this obtuse.
Why does the writer of this article justify Lestat's domestic abuse of Louis? Even though the show makes it a point that Louis was protecting Claudia and Lestat's actions were indefensible.
It’s disgusting how racist this post actually is… and yet it’s posted proudly giving white people ammunition to shift the racism and hatred displayed on Louis instead of the violence white people regularly displayed toward black people of that era.
The show sets Lestat as the white Patriarch multiple times through power imbalance and social standing alone. There is nothing motherly about him. The way he treats Louis and Claudia is with the brutality of a patriarch.
Like they don't care to explore the reasons why Louis developed this facade and no ~love~ is not the reason you see it less in season 1. Looking deeper would mean they'd have to care about his experience as a black man in the Jim Crow South. And they do not care.
i'm so sorry rolin jones for it seems you will have to AGAIN remind the audience that all vampires are monsters and should not be judged by human morals
They want us to "root for" Loustat, yet they showed Lestat, a white man, dropping Louis, a Black man, from the sky and breaking every bone in his body because he couldn't OWN (Lestat's words) him. You shippers are delusional.
u guys do this EVERY SINGLE TIME my god what kind of show do u think ur watching that puts rape in between the main couple that they want the audience to root for. the show has very EXPLICITLY shown when a couple has a very fucked up sexual dynamic and that was with loumand
@Happy_vibes1111
@nanoyacov
@kaitoric
You are a racist. When proven wrong, you still continue to make ridiculous and baseless "theories" all to demonize Louis in order to redeem your favorite white abuser, Lestat.
os gringo tudin respondendo com o mais seco e absoluto sim como se eles não soubessem que é muito mais complicado que isso
aí vai ver eles são os mesmo que shippam loumand
Devil's Minion stans are so racist, they have to take every aspect of Louis story and make it about their dry ass ship. All of Daniel's actions were motivated by Louis, not Armand. You are delusional.
You can never convince me that most Loustat stans aren't just racists who take everything Louis says as a response to Lestat's disrespect, cheating, racism, and abuse as more egregious than Lestat's original actions.
The show about to go from a compelling story about a Black vampire, back to fan fiction for racist white women. The lack of any mention of Louis or his story in season 2 is telling.
warning for lots of negativity//
sorry not to doom post but hearing the creator of the show say he's making this show for the fans and then later go on to list fans who are the actual worst makes me significantly more nervous for the show than i ever was before
he’s not disassociating in that scene claudia is literally talking into his head he’s DISTRACTED u rlly think the writers are going to write in noncon into the relationship they want the audience to root for are u people sane or what?
"Alice was never actually real, it was always Armand" Literally deleting whole characters from the story to construct a narrative for your ship. If anything, Devil's Minion fans are as delusional as flat earthers.
@dhampirdulac
like alot of people are failing to realize that that's the WHOLE REASON rolin made louis black in the series, to give him more agency, more depth more accountability for his actions going forward but they're so quick to strip that from him to get some dumb yn narrative or sumn
People feeling the need to preemptively “defend” Lestat will always be hilarious… he is a white character surrounded by black characters, fandom will go out of their way to defend and understand him over all else regardless. “I know he disregards the racism Louis faces buuut…”
Hilarious considering all you non black Lestans disregard Black people discussing anti black racism and abuse as it pertains to Lestat. Anything to protect your favorite white abuser I guess.
This person blocked me after I pointed out that they as a white person shouldn’t try to correct a Native American person about how they should view and interact with colonialism, but I have to talk about this because WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
Louis is literally condemning himself to stay in a love less, unhappy marriage with his abusive husband and all you can think of is he's manipulating Lestat. You people really are the racist theatre audience
#iwtvspoilers
This reads to me aa manipulation from Louis.
He used Lestat's own fear of being abandoned to have something he wanted, Claudia whom he didn't even know or genuinely care about. Cursing her forever. A selfish manipulator.
Its strange that you think she can only love a white woman but question her love for a black boy. There's layers to it that really make me side eye some of y'all.
why people get so angry when someone says claudia is a lesbian, like yes she dated charlie but there’s no way she loved him even as much as she loved madeleine, everyone talks about comphet but the moment you see it in media you start crying and throwing up
u can see lestat is a monster but what does this mean for armand when he cannot even do this, when he still playing victim and trying to manipulate Louis after all those years. he cannot even admit his guilt
#iwtvspoilers
#InterviewWithTheVampire
A "nice gesture" would be a Raleigh Ritchie, IWTV, or LDPDL shirt. A TVL shirt comes off as more insulting than anything. Y'all don't have to bring that fictional white man into everything Jacob does. It really shows a good portion of this fandoms blatant disregard for Jacob.
Y'all should be getting uncomfortable with the sec in the 77 years relationship that would be considered rape by omission and not Louis getting distracted because he was LETTING Claudia yap in his mind while having sex with lestat
Why do Lestat stans always minimize the extent of Lestat's abuse of Louis? "Sure Lestat broke every bone in Louis' body, but Armand's the REAL problem."
@BuckleyDiaz17
@vampirecine
How is Louis just as bad in the relationship? Lest at cheated on Louis for years and domestically abused both Louis and Claudia.
"Victim narrative" when the shows main characters are Black people in the Jim crow south. Why do these racist Lestat stans even watch the show if they are unable to empathize with black characters?
tbh i feel like there's a weird "characters of color can only be good/pure" logic going on with some folks in iwtv fandom who embrace white vamps like lestat and santiago being deranged freaks while ignoring any level of complex morals from louis, armand and claudia
Well, people who only care about Lestat do tend to only focus on the romance and not the tragedy when it comes to Louis' suffering in particular, especially in cases when Lestat causes the suffering.
tbh it would’ve been cuter if lestat instead orchestrated a whole play to kill their daughter and then lied to louis about it for 77 years all while manipulating him and altering his memories
@kisslovedance
@carameliah1
genuine question not trying to start anything but how exactly does the fight from their pov were louis started it and lestat tried extremely hard to stop it before it got where it got but lestat having extreme remorse for where it got to make it worse for him exactly
The rockstar's girlfriend tweets in regards to Louis show just how little this racist fandom cares about Louis as an individual character. Just like Lestat, you want Lestat to own Louis as he sits quietly in the background.
Louis fighting back against someone who represents the systemic oppression he went through as a black man in the south in that era and then blaming the common violence inflicted by white people on black communities onto him will never be a "roast" Its just ignorance
@laheyspells
Can we not do this thing where we take posts from another platform out of context to ragebait. This person is a black Louis fan and was roasting him/ calling out his hypocrisy, which is kind of the whole point of the narrative. CONTEXT matters!
okay 101 class I guess: in the books louis spends years grieving his "lost humanity", feasting only on animals because he can't bring himself to drink human blood. the irony is that in life his wealth and comfort came from the brutal exploitation of enslaved people.
People saying that Louis defending Claudia from Lestat's abuse makes him just as bad as the actual abuser Lestat are either just dumb or too racist to comprehend the show. Just pure Johnny D*pop level abuse defense.
@WilsonsB4be
@laheyspells
It is a white supremacist talking point to look at the years of mistreatment black people endured by white people and then seeing black peoples retaliation against white supremacy as "too much". Historically, White people burned down black communities for much less.
There's the victim blaming you Lestat stans are known for. All so you can defend your favorite white man's abuse of the Black protagonist. And you wonder why people point out your obvious racism.
louis has always given lestat more grace than he deserves and resists thinking of himself as an abuse survivor, so him forgiving lestat in ep8 makes total sense- but this doesn’t mean that the show's narrative agrees with louis or expects the audience to also forgive lestat
Lestat drinking from Louis in the middle of abusing Louis was rape. Based on the books, vampires drinking from other vampires is a sexual experience. Why else would Lestat drink from Louis in the middle of brutilizing him? It served as another disgusting violation of Louis body.
White people truly can just fall upwards into opportunities they have no business having access to. All while cancelling an actual competent Black woman's podcast.
forgive me but it seems disrespectful to me to ask levan akin, a successful film director, if he was hired to direct a television show partly because he was gay while not mentioning his accomplishments in queer cinema
this is too rancid of a take to not openly quote tweet like im sorry you can dislike characters/writing choices/etc all you wish but finding so much entertainment in someone [checks notes] finding out about the suicide attempt of a loved one is clinically insane
If you can't even see Louis as a victim of abuse at the hands of Lestat in episode 5 , you are racist and shouldn't engage with media that includes black people.
@vampyreslvt
I don't look at any of them like a villain, not even Louis, never looked at Louis as a victim either though.. they're all dramatic and have their parts to play.
Non black people are not smart or knowledgeable enough on the history of race in America to analyse any of the racial aspects of this show. You definitely do not have the range.
@Ioumand
I was replying to your public generalization on the internet with another generalization. I don't care about you in particular. You will be okay.
this stuff makes me feel insane bc they did ONE quick song and little teaser specifically for comic con bc they knew they’d be here. I know a lot of ppl just got here but AMC was releasing promos for s1 all the way during the Feb of 2022 during the Super Bowl. The first official
Whether they are black or not it does not negate that they gave racist people in this fandom further room to be ignorant and violently racist about how black people were treated by white people especially in that time.
@laheyspells
Can we not do this thing where we take posts from another platform out of context to ragebait. This person is a black Louis fan and was roasting him/ calling out his hypocrisy, which is kind of the whole point of the narrative. CONTEXT matters!
@otherbully
I ignored you because it's a false equivalency. Which vampire did Louis drink from without their consent? I know you need Louis to be a rapist because Lestat is one but sadly for you that's not the case.
Louis is disassociated during this scene. The "foreplay" you're referring to is as sterile as a visit to the dentist. He is completely numb & out of it as he stated in that scene. THAT is why he is comfortable talking to Claudia. Claudia can obviously sense this as well.
wait…this discourse just made me realize the show could NOT have made it clearer that the scene in 1x6 is supposed to be uncomfortable because louis and claudia are talking in the middle of foreplay seesh
The quotes are insane jfc he’s literally like yeah I don’t pay attention, these are just the people I know like I promise this man is too busy and employed to know the ins and outs of these users and their ~drama you guys are so weird
@WilsonsB4be
@laheyspells
Placing Louis as that "cause" of a violent race riot by white people against black people is a way to absolve white people the centuries of abuse that came before.
actually i cannot because i want to kill armand with hammers every time he looks at louis. to clarify i love him and hes my little meow meow i just think he should not be allowed within fifty feet of that man.
