Some disturbing and irrefutable evidence of a back door being put into Bitcoin Core has come to light in recent days. While I usually abstain from engaging in such discussions, the egregiousness and malice in this instance requires me to speak up…

In wrapping up, I think its important that was call out these betrayal of our values. It’s not in Bitcoin’s best interest that Bitcoin Core development remain transparent, thoughtful, accurate, or engaged with the community. On these points, I think we all can agree.

One way to make looking up Bitcoin addresses, transactions, hashes, or blocks on @Blockstream 's Block Explorer even faster: using a custom Search Engine. This setup allows you to type "exp <tab> <paste address|txid|hash|block>" in your URL bar. Zero to tx details in 2 seconds.

This PR not only makes sure that the HELP TEXT documentation accurately describes the functioning of the code, it ALSO adds additional testing, which I think everyone can agree, threatens the credibility of the project as a whole.

As an aside, orgs whose purpose it is to cover these developments, like @bitcoinoptech were completely silent on PR27832, instead deciding to cover thoughtful technical discussion on an open email list by pseudonymous developers like "John Law". The guy IS NOT EVEN ON TWITTER.

@PeterMcCormack @RyanSAdams Yes we do. Current rough plan by core devs is to deliver it 2024-2025 as I understand it, as a soft fork. No other plausible way for BTC to be used by a non-trivial % of world. LN can’t scale in decentralized form without some change or major innovation as I understand it.

It seems while Core developers were busy with their multi-year personal “pet” projects like adding encrypted communication between nodes, making it easier to run a node using “ASSUME”UTXO, fixing bugs, and adding test coverage, this PR also got reviewed and merged under the radar

Today is my tenth anniversary as a Bitcoin technical writer. In a decade of contributing, I've made amazing friendships that will last the rest of my life and learned of things more fantastical than most fiction. 1/2

@dr_orlovsky @bitcoinoptech Optech covered LNP/BP work a few times in the monthly "Changes to services and client software" newsletter segment and separately a wallet integrating RGB. The weekly "News" section is mostly mailing list driven (where we covered your post previously: )

To the contrary, Bitcoin's development funding is purely free market & voluntary. Either: - a developer voluntarily spends their time - someone voluntarily supports financially if they value the service Its possible neither of these occur. We'll see what the free market decides

the concept of begging & donations is flawed against the free market economy if bitcoin would collapse without donation to development then it HAS to collapse & die bitcoin should thrive on free market incentives not on begging & scamming the community is rotten to the core

@danheld Make it financially cheaper to transact privately than publicly. Something like coinjoins with cross-input aggregation (when available).
