@AustinJ_P_ No, not at all, but it depends on the genre. Mysteries are usually shorter (think 70k), romance is usually between 80-85k, and sci-fi is often over 100k for all that world building. Google word count by genres. Writer's Digest has had articles about it.

I wish I had time to write. I have elderly parents who are really failing all of a sudden, esp my mom. It's more important to be w/them, cook meals, do laundry, and other chores. I'd rather sit and hear their stories but feel I should always be working. It's hard. Family first.

I needed to hear this. For a month, I've been concentrating on my parents, esp Dad since he was diagnosed w/dementia and put on Hospice. The funeral is Tues. I've written his obituary, the program, & his eulogy. I'm drained and sad, but I can't wait to get back to some normalcy.
