Another SpaceX Launch is scheduled from Vandenberg tonight at 8:57pm. If it lifts off on schedule, it will be visible for hundreds of miles, similar to last week's launch. Vapor trail illuminated by the sun after sunset. Should be another spectacular viewing!

A vigorous cold front continues pushing through Southern California this morning bringing very heavy rain from the OC to the IE. This frontal system is now moving into the San Bernardino Mtns and snow will become heavy at times through noon. Snowfall accumulations of 4-8 inches

Light to moderate snow continues to fall across the Big Bear area with the snow level near 5,500ft. Accumulations of 1-2" are possible over the next few hours. Snowfall intensity will increase overnight as our cold front arrives. Roads will also begin to deteriorate, carry chains

Our storm has arrived with the heaviest snowfall just beginning across the eastern San Bernardino Mtns. As wrap around moisture cranks up throughout the day, expect heavy snow and white-out conditions, travel IS NOT advised. 4-8" already with accumulations 1-2'+ still expected!

Moisture continues streaming in off the Pacific with wet weather across all of Southern California this afternoon. The snow level remains near 7,000 feet and will fluctuate at times. If traveling into the mountains, carry chains as we have R2 restrictions in place on Hwy 18

Conditions continue to improve on the #RadfordFire as crews widen & tie in containment lines, mop up. Containment increased to 65%, still 1088 acres. 0.50-1.00" of rain has fallen in the area of the fire. A nice, steady rain. Showers & storms are expected for a couple more days.

A line of showers & thunderstorms has fired up between Lucerne Valley & Barstow. This cluster is moving south & will reach the San Bernardino Mountains in the next hour or so. Storms may contain heavy rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning & hail. Expect another active day Sunday!

The snow level continues to bounce around 6000-7000 feet this morning but is now beginning to fall. Expect a full changeover back to snow by noon as the snow level lowers to near 5,000 feet. Snow showers will continue through this afternoon & evening with isolated thunderstorms.

Firefighters made great progress today holding the fire south of Hwy 38 and east of Angelus Oaks. They continued building/re-enforcing lines, even a visit from the Supertanker! Fire now stands at 17,892 acres burned and 61% contained. Photo from last night w/no evacs for Big Bear

Looking at 5-8" of new snow on the ground this morning with more on the way today! Expect snow showers to continue throughout the day, some heavy with several inches of additional snow likely. If you have to travel do so with caution. Chains are required (R-2) on all roads!
