Due to heavy snow in the area, Highway 38 remains the only road open at this time, all other roads are closed to upbound traffic. They are allowing downbound traffic only on Hwy 18 to Lucerne Valley. Likely just a matter of time until all roads close. Conditions will only worsen.

El Dorado Fire still burning active towards the ridge on San Bernardino Peak. Gusty winds today pushed the fire east and upslope towards the southeast, creeping away from Hwy 38. There was some spotting across the Hwy, but quickly contained. Firefighters have done an amazing job!

Looking at an active afternoon with strong thunderstorms erupting across Southern California mtns & deserts. One strong cell is currently over the San Jac (pictured) with more over Apple Valley and over the Mohave. Additional storms are likely to develop over the next few hours.

Looking at a cool, dry offshore flow, perfect for snowmaking! BBMR is looking to fire up tonight with winter weather on the horizon next week. Very prelim estimates call for 0.50-1.00" of rain in coastal & valley areas, 1-2" in the mountains & around 4-8"+ of snow above 5,000ft.

Still looking at a major pattern change this week that will bring rain and high-elevation snow to the area. Showers look mostly light through Tuesday, then increase in coverage and intensity Wed-Fri with thunderstorms possible. The snow level will remain above 8,000 feet

#RadfordFire is looking much better this morning compared to yesterday & overnight. Still some areas of concern but with all the aircraft up they should make good progress throughout the day. Fire now @ 450 acres & 0% contained. Should have more precise mapping from Firis shortly

Showers & storms have developed across the area with rain turning to snow. Already a little dusting above 7,500ft. The snow level could dip to around 5,000ft with an inch or two possible. Travel with caution & carry chains! Winds, clouds & showers will all decrease after midnight

Another SpaceX Launch is scheduled from Vandenberg tonight at 8:57pm. If it lifts off on schedule, it will be visible for hundreds of miles, similar to last week's launch. Vapor trail illuminated by the sun after sunset. Should be another spectacular viewing!

Hail accumulating from a strong cell over the east end of the valley. Very heavy rain with isolated flash flooding possible in Erwin Lake, Shay Meadows & Baldwin Lake. Thunderstorms will continue to fire up through this afternoon and drift northward.

A vigorous cold front continues pushing through Southern California this morning bringing very heavy rain from the OC to the IE. This frontal system is now moving into the San Bernardino Mtns and snow will become heavy at times through noon. Snowfall accumulations of 4-8 inches

Conditions continue to improve on the #RadfordFire as crews widen & tie in containment lines, mop up. Containment increased to 65%, still 1088 acres. 0.50-1.00" of rain has fallen in the area of the fire. A nice, steady rain. Showers & storms are expected for a couple more days.

A line of showers & thunderstorms has fired up between Lucerne Valley & Barstow. This cluster is moving south & will reach the San Bernardino Mountains in the next hour or so. Storms may contain heavy rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning & hail. Expect another active day Sunday!

Firefighters made great progress today holding the fire south of Hwy 38 and east of Angelus Oaks. They continued building/re-enforcing lines, even a visit from the Supertanker! Fire now stands at 17,892 acres burned and 61% contained. Photo from last night w/no evacs for Big Bear
