over a year of nyc living has changed me in the following ways: - I'm now a very aggressive pedestrian - I have increasingly thinning patience for people with poor milk-and-sugar-counter etiquette at coffeeshops - enhanced ability to plan for 85 types of weather

the spelling of "queue" is an assault on the human mind and one of the many indignities of the English language

Mixtape is 6 months old today. 🥰 Nothing says “I work in tech and gentrify Williamsburg” quite like giving my cat his favorite organic Whole Foods kefir to celebrate his half-birthday. 🎂 سالگرہ مبارک

my husband went to go get my UberEats delivery in his scrubs & the delivery person thanked him for his service. the world may treat him like a hero but I, a troll, started thanking him for his service when he does normal things like taking out the trash or doing the dishes.

I know Tilak and he’s lovely. When I was an intern at Dropbox on the API team, I’d sometimes skip lunch because of social anxiety, and he’d make me a plate and bring it to my desk. He is Nepalese, spoke fluent Urdu, and made delicious chai for the whole office. ❤️

I went to school with a kid who had a thousand different colored gel pens that she used to take notes with. I thought that was whack, lame & extra af. My dependence on syntax highlighting working correctly has made me appreciate her as a forward-looking scholar & thought leader.

are we surprised imposter syndrome is rampant in an industry that inflates the celebrity of twitter perceptions, self-promotional conference talks and lacks a canonical standard way to do things we don't really know how to do?

Prior to the introduction of operators—Greeks, Arabs & Ancient Egyptians didn't use signs (like +) despite using the operation in their calculations. This Arabic notation is interesting because the one-letter words have semantic pertinence in the language. 2 wa 2 ya'adilu 5 🙃

my mind: .................................. my words: . . . . .. . . ... .. . audience: wtf = holding coherent, well-strung, "high-res" thoughts, but communicating disconnected portions of said thoughts, leaving your narrative fragmented, and your audience confused

walking around NYC on a rainy xmas eve, in a pandemic, is incredible. it’s the quietest I’ve ever seen the city, with a faithfully loud skyline doing its thing. ✌🏽
