Right now the sun is setting at 7:30pm in AZ. My solar is producing until 7pm. @apsFYI ’s on peak period is 4-7pm. So, what’s this about rooftop solar not reducing peak? DG is part of the solution, utilities just don’t like it because they don’t earn a return on it. 🤷‍♀️

Amazing! HB 2101 just lost in the House 26-29 with 4 folks not voting and 1 excused. It was a bad bill for solar, did nothing to add consumer protections or reliability, and ensured our monopoly utilities stay the only game in town. @SRPconnect #energytwitter

During Elliott—one of the biggest storms to hit the country in recent years—millions of people lost power. The grid operator analyzed the data afterwards to see what caused the outages. Gas plants were responsible for 70% of the outages. Coal for 23%.

@azcentral Are we just ignoring the AZ legislature and the ACC? AZ is purple, at best. I think what we saw is 1/3 the electorate are independents and they prefer a moderate. A moderate R could have won, but the primaries pander to extremes.

@karinkirk_mt I think it is a combination of high interest rates and bad state solar policy. In AZ, we have the ACC and utilities decreasing export rates while increasing fixed fees and demand charges. AZ eliminated net metering a decade ago.
