Note to everyone treating this like a scandal, including Amazon marketing & PR teams: Tolkien wrote halflings as multi-cultural and both light & brown-skinned. The history of Tolkien’s world is full of strong women. To treat this like it’s a “new take” is a disservice to Tolkien.

@elonmusk I recall @DavidLimbaugh ’s brother Rush faced a pull-out of advertisers once. But he stayed the course. His listeners remained. New advertisers stepped up. Then some of the old advertisers came back on their knees but Rush told them to get lost. I hope you’ll do the same, Elon.

@jordanbpeterson I was obese most of my life. I got up to 400 then a couple of years ago made it to 200 for the first time in my 46year-old adult life. Best choice I ever made. They want to say misinformation is dangerous—well, saying obesity is beautiful or healthy is dangerous. It’s deadly.

I think for the most part they’ll do a great job. There’s only one thing that would completely derail Amazon’s Middle Earth series. If they go for Game of Thrones R-rated adult situations, it’s DOA. They have to be faithful to Tolkien’s spirit.

And it was so deserved. I wish movies were still made like this. Really upon reflection, LOTR was the greatest trilogy or sequential franchise (excluding Marvel because it’s hard to compare 20+ movies) over last 3 decades. Yes I love Star Wars, but it never attempted what PJ did.

He actually understood English very well and could use the keyboard to communicate in sophisticated ways. I’d ask him to do all kinds of complicated tasks. He could make his own tools, cook food. Very smart

I saw Solo tonight for the third time and enjoyed it as much as the first. This might be the most accessible and re-watchable @StarWars film since the original trilogy. Above all else, Solo is fun! I hope @RealRonHoward has aspirations for a Han Solo trilogy!

It seems strange saying this as an active life-long Tolkien fan, but I finally finished The Silmarillion today! It was amazing. Tolkien truly is the J.S. Bach of world-building. There will never be any better. I had no idea the book covered the entire Middle Earth world history!

Around the holidays I re-watch Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Star Wars OT & Harry Potter. Today it’s Lord of the Rings. As much as Star Wars OT is in my blood & among my earliest memories, I’m having a hard time declaring that Lord of the Rings isn’t the greatest trilogy ever made.

Hey @StarWars Clone Wars fans!... While live-action shoots are on indefinite hold during the pandemic--we should be pushing for MORE new episodes of The Clone Wars to be made. There are still A LOT of unfinished episodes at Lucasfilm, and they COULD finish those in this lockdown.

The biggest criticism of The Force Awakens, from fans who love it, was that JJ played it safe. The 2 things everyone said they wanted from Rian was to take more chances & advance the mythology. Rian delivered exactly what fans asked, and as Lucas said, TLJ is beautifully made.

@ConceptualJames I think about Cambodia EVERY SINGLE DAY in regard to what’s going on in America. I was a travel writer based there. Americans don’t realize the Khmer Rouge genocide was heavily focused on achieving racial equity. One of their focuses was slaughtering all non-Khmer.

I just watched Solo for a 4th time and still love it, @RealRonHoward ! I sat in to listen to the end credits music of the previous showing too. It’s pirates, wild west, Christmas and romance, and it’s 100% Star Wars! I hope we hear a lot more from John Powell in our Star Wars. :)

Don't get me wrong. The Mandalorian is wonderful. It's my favorite thing right now. But its fantastical-ness isn't the only reason it's beating out other shows. It's the anticipation. The wait between eps. It creates demand. It gives more opportunity to re-watch. Imagine. Hype.

Here's a thought... Whether Disney believes the reason Solo ticket sales were low was because of timing/volume, or TLJ blowback, they never blame Solo itself. There will be a sequel (even if it's called "Boba Fett: The Continuing Adventures of Solo").

Personally, I think you are a Star Wars fan if you like Star Wars enough to think you are a fan. That's it. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. You don't have to check off a list or conform to any particular opinions. Just like Star Wars. And Star Wars is for everyone.

Don't think I was that interested before, but the closer we get to Hobbit 3, the more I wish there was a 'Silmarillion' trilogy to follow.

@nypost Makes no sense to me. The video is clean and sanitary and straightforward. Were people expecting a butcher station with an actual rack of ribs? Come on people. You can make this same sort of stuff at home from the freezer section of the grocery store.

@ggreenwald I lived in a communist country for 7yrs & saw that govt employ the same tactics. They infiltrated citizen groups, got them to protest China, which served the govt up to a point. When that purpose was served, they arrested devoted protestors and sent them to re-education centers.
